MAC Dazzleglass Date Night Review

I am a fairly new writer on IMBB and I am so excited to share my opinions and views here on IMBB. I am a big fan of makeup since I was very little and this love for makeup led me to MAC.  Today, I am reviewing my very first purchase from MAC (yay) which is a dazzleglass in the shade “Date night.”

It looks reddish here but its not.

What MAC Says about Date Night:

Lip colour that dazzles with light and shine to bring an exciting dimensional pop to your lips. Large particle pearls reflect and refract light to mimic the brilliance of quartz and opal crystal. Provides exceptional shine with a crystalline iridescence. Non-sticky, non-tacky, lightweight and moisturizing. Glides on. Wear alone, or layer over lipstick or Lip glass for dramatic effect. Features our signature MAC vanilla aroma.

My Take on MAC Dazzleglass Date Night:

Now onto this dazzle glass. It has got amazing shimmer particles, which are not chunks of shimmer, but rather are such subtle and pretty ones. It has shimmers in purple, pink and gold. True to its name, it is a dazzleglass. Also, the aroma is absolutely amazing.  I love MAC lip products for their amazing smell which is pretty vanilla, just love it.

The colour is mauvey-purple sort and does not show up much on my lips, shows up only as a hint of colour and is pretty sheer. At any angle, you mostly notice the sparkles and not the colour. Below is a swatch of it in my room’s light.

As you can see, it is a very pretty, purple kind of a colour. My lips are very pale, they have almost no colour, so this when used on my lips shows up pretty nude with lots of sparkles. But it would look absolutely amazing on people with pink lips. Personally, I love this dazzleglass and I have used it many times. It is very long lasting, the colour kind of fades away but the moisturization is amazing.  For people who have dry lips, this works better than any other lip balm. The only problem that I find with it is that it is very sticky. I totally hate it when wind blows and all my hair go up and stick on my lips, eeeewwww. Then, I have to peel them off and get so irritated. Apart from that, this is very good. I guess almost all MAC lip glasses are very sticky, not really a must have, but if you want something with shimmer and which lasts longer, then go for it.

The wand is also different than a standard lip glass.

Takes some time to apply it using the wand, but I don’t really mind that.

So, summing it up, here are its pros and cons:

Pros of MAC Dazzleglass Date Night:

• Beautiful shimmer.
• Very moisturizing.
• Amazing smell.
• Lasts long, for about 4 hours.
• Colour would go well with almost all skin tones.
• Good quantity provided.
• Amazing for people with dry lips.

Cons of MAC Dazzleglass Date Night:

• Very sticky.
• Even by MAC standards, it is a bit highly priced.
• Not very opaque, its very sheer, but it may be a con for only me because I have pale lips.

MAC Eyeshadow in Sushi Flower Review

Hope you all are having a great week. Since the weather is all rainy, stormy and gloomy here, I absolutely don’t feel like studying. I would rather be sipping coffee or lie on the bed flipping colourful magazines.  I am thinking of having a great haircut to beat the weather blues, but till that happens, great makeup always is the quick fix *wink wink*

The other day I was at MAC, I realized I didn’t have a single pink shadow. So, I asked the SA to show me something that was “summer-vibrant,” but also day worthy. She picked out two shadows, Pink Venus and Sushi Flower.

What MAC Says:

Sushi Flower is a medium-dark pink with a satin finish.

Cost:

$15 + tax.

My Experience with MAC Eyeshadow in Sushi Flower:

When I saw the pan, I thought it was way too bright for my taste. The SA applied Brule all over the lid and blended Sushi Flower in the crease. I thought it looked fabulous and neutral to some extent, and very day appropriate. I also applied and blended it all over the lid with an eyeliner and it gave a nice pinky sheen to the lids. I have been using this a lot since I got this one.  I can finally say that this is one product which will hit the pan soon.  Sushi Flower can be teamed up with a lot of colours; browns, purples, champagnes, over a black base too. Since it has a satin finish, it applies like a dream. It blends on the crease like a dream and has almost negligible fall-outs.  It gives a nice pop of colour even with a pair of jeans and a tee

Summing it up:

What I Like about MAC Eyeshadow in Sushi Flower:

• Very vibrant shade.
• Decent pigmentation.
• Very easy to apply and blend.
• Very buildable shade.
• Looks different when applied on the lids and when applied on the crease.

What I Do Not Like about MAC Eyeshadow in Sushi Flower:

• $15 price label.
• I would use it very carefully on the lower eye area, it might look like someone punched you.

Verdict on MAC Eyeshadow in Sushi Flower:

This would suit a lot of skin tones and goes with neutral look for work as well as party looks, very versatile and I would say, a must-have for MAC collectors

In the EOTD, I have used Sushi Flower on the lid and a purple on the outer-V and crease.

Hello all the pretty girls,

I am a big paint pot fan (who isn’t?? ) and use them for so many things, its weird!!!  Anyway, my life long love for gold made me buy Indianwood and I have been using it forever!!!!  Yesterday, I went to MAC to get some other stuff and ended up eyeing MAC Paint Pots again

I bought Groundwork and I am really liking it, but now I am obsessed with expanding my paint pot collection.  I know my Indianwood will get a little jealous of all the other ones, but I will make it understand

As I was saying, I tried a lot of them and some of the colours didn’t look that great on my NC45 skin, so, I am once again coming to you all for help.

Can you people suggest which ones should I get? It always helps to know what I want before I go to the shop.

MAC Cremesheen Glass in Over Indulgence Review

Before I start with the review, let me announce, “this is the most awesome lip gloss I have ever used.” MAC always makes it a point to make me go back to them When I got my first lipstick from them, the SA and I were chatting and she simply asked me to try this one.  I wasn’t so sure of getting a MAC gloss, but she insisted and I let her apply it on me and man, I was sold, hook, line and sinker!!!

What MAC Says about MAC Cremesheen Glass in Over Indulgence:

A lip finish that fuses the creamy, sheen-filled nature of Cremesheen Lipstick with the shine of M·A·C Lipglass. Soft, comfortable, non-sticky. Applies with a doe-foot applicator. Use as a top layer to its namesake Lipstick or on its own.

Shade:

Neutral Brown.

Cost:

US$19.50 for 2.7 ml/0.09 US fl oz.

My Experience with MAC Cremesheen Glass in Over Indulgence:

This is my pop of color for the bland days. This gloss must surely have some feel-good pixie dust because it really makes me happy happy, sometimes, I apply it just like that at home.

Over Indulgence is a creamy, kind of milky, slightly warmed-up brown.  It’s like a muted peachy-brown on my lips, very MLBB type.  This is how having a crush feels like!!! It looks so different in the MAC swatch, but for me, its a neutral coral-brown with subtle micro-shimmer. It has some color coverage, but it is not entirely opaque or entirely sheer.  The formula is somewhere in between. The shade is very nice, apricot like. For some reason, it reminds me of Channing Tatum.”  :hihi:

Summing it up:

Yay’s of MAC Cremesheen Glass in Over Indulgence:

• Very creamy, buildable formula.
• It’s not sticky, goopy, or waxy.  Your hair won’t stick to it and you can “jhalko-fy” them without worry.
• It is very moisturizing on your lips even after it fades off.
• It has that faint vanilla smell, makes me want to eat it!
• It lasts a little bit longer than the other glosses I have used.
• It has a normal doe-foot applicator. I like using them as opposed to brush applicators.
• By itself, it’s a nice MLBB and on lipsticks, it adds a nice warmth

Nays of MAC Cremesheen Glass in Over Indulgence:

• $19.50, ouchhh  :pray:
• Don’t show it to anyone, a relative I met almost took it from me. I played really tricky cards, so she doesn’t take it. :haanji:
• Can be duped easily, Revlon Nude Lustre and NYX Apricot Lip Gloss are very close.

Verdict:

I would suggest to try a lip gloss from this range if not this color. I swear to God :worship: you’ll come back and high-five me, its that good! Did I tell you I’m in love? :shy:

MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner Petting Pink Review

I am back again with another “lip protecting” product review. Most of the times, I feel that lips get most neglected by women.  Sorry, this couldn’t be true for some of you, but, I feel this way.  All of us buy so many products for our face, like serums, moisturisers, foundations, etc., but most of us probably only have like a bunch of lipsticks and maybe one lip balm including Vaseline.  Even if you consider the market, there are not many things for lips like lip serums, lip scrubbing tools or lip toners or whatever.

Honestly, there is a need to develop lip moisturising products because no one wants chapped and flaky lips, right?  Well, let’s hope some new products for lips hits the market soon!  Have you guys heard of lip conditioners? Fancy name, huh! MAC lovers, please put your hands together for MAC Lip Conditioners, let’s get started.

Packaging:

Comes in the typical black MAC packaging.  The container is a cute, little, clear round jar with a twisting black lid.

Quantity:

15 ml.

Price:

£11.

Odour and Taste:

Smells like vanilla and taste is quite sweet.

Texture:

Non sticky, creamy and rich.

Shades Available:

Clear, Fuchsia Fix, Petting Pink, Soothing Beige (please note the clear one is called just lip conditioner but the others are called tinted lip conditioners).

Product Description:

A protective emollient balm formulated with SPF 15, a sheer wash of colour and all-natural sheen. Conditions lips, locks in moisture. Contains almond oil, Shea butter, Avacodo extract, wheat germ oil, vitamins A and E.

I own the tinted lip conditioner in Petting Pink, so I will be reviewing that for you today.

My Take on MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner Petting Pink:

MAC tinted lip conditioners are pretty much just lip balms with a cool name. I personally wanted a high-end lip balm for the winters because I was so sick of Vaseline.  So, I went to MAC and bought this one and I have been using it for a good 4 months now.  I am very much happy with this one.  I love that it is non-sticky, creamy, rich, but not slippery.  The clear lilac colour is just the perfect tint for any skin colour.  The tint is a shade between baby pink and lavender, it’s the most gorgeous light pink I ever had. It moisturises my lips and keeps them soft.  It is very easy to carry it around in the car or take it to the gym, etc.

The most unique quality of this lip balm is that it makes my lips very soft.  It gives me the softest lips ever if you apply lipstick over it, you are going to look like a clown as it will smudge and be shiny.  Of course, MAC products are pricey, so I don’t have anything to complain about the price.

Pros of MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner Petting Pink:

• Feels rich, creamy, and moisturises the lips instantly.
• Just a hint of colour, which is perfect for all seasons.
• Sweet taste and vanilla like smell!

Cons of MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner Petting Pink:

• None.

Overall, I would say that this is a must-try product, it’s the best lip balm ever.

MAC Jubilee Lipstick Review

Okay, somebody please tell me why I can’t stop listening to the Desi Boyz song, ‘Tu Mera Hero…a–a–a…hero…ha…hero…tu mera hero – a-a-a.” I am in love with this song since the movie came out and break into a jig every time I hear this! :jiggy1: I think I have found my soul song – if there is any such thing.

Okay, random shot time now, of my two favourite Macs!

Anyway, a little off-track rambling.  I watched Agent Vinod and wanted to walk out of the theater after the first 30 minutes, which is quite something for a person who sat through electric chairs like Mausam, Rascals, and Dhamaal! Kareena Kapoor is looking fat, errrm sorry – “well fed!” I liked her zero figure avatar quite a lot although everyone said she was looking sick and what not. Anyhow, on to the review.  Oh and by the way, I also watched London, Paris, New York and methinks Ali Zafar is scorching! Drool drool drool! :drool:

Okay, seriously now, on to the review! :headbang:

About MAC Jubilee:

It’s a n*de beigy pink – very subtle and totally “my kinda shade.” The shade is quite pale and being in lustre finish, just imparts a nice beigy pink shine to the lips. It is very very moisturizing and hydrating and on days when I don’t feel like wearing a proper tint, I just use this and it serves the purpose of a lip balm – it is THAT moisturizing!

The texture is ultra creamy (I love their lustre finishes), but staying power is around 5-6 hours if I don’t eat anything. I also have a habit of licking my lips – so I eat most of my lipsticks  (Gawd, still thinking of Ali Zafar in that movie :pray: )

The fragrance is the usual MAC fragrance that all their lipsticks have which bothers me just a little bit, but a MAC is a MAC is a MAC after all!

Shade:

Like I mentioned, it’s a very pale beigy pink – so it would suit fair to medium skin tones. I use it mostly to tone down very bright lipsticks or when I don’t want to wear a proper tint on my lips, but just want a nice moisturizing lipstick that would impart some shine. It looks superb with a heavy smoky eye as well, so I would say it’s suitable for day as well as night. I just wear it any time and you can tell how much I use it by looking at this pic:

Summing it up, this totally works for me because I usually wear a lot of smudged kohl and prefer to keep my lips pale. If that’s your scene as well, you can go for this lipstick, but don’t, if you like bright peppy colors for summer!

MAC Up The Amp Lipstick Review

Hello Everyone!

In my last article, I had mentioned how these days I am so into some different shades of lipsticks, after loving bright pinks for so long.  Well, I still do, but the new shades I’m loving now are lilacs, lavenders, mauves, violets, plums and purples. I find these kind of shades to be really unique and a pleasant change for me!

So, today, I am reviewing one of my new favourites in this category – MAC “Up The Amp.” MAC describes this shade as “Lavender Violet” and it is in an amplified crème finish.

The lipstick is priced at Rs. 990 and comes in the usual black and silver case packaging and has the trademark vanilla fragrance that is common among all MAC lipsticks. The vanilla fragrance is pleasant, has no taste on application, and disappears within a few minutes after application. Till date, I have never found any MAC lipstick of mine to attract fungus or have an odd taste or smell, even after 2 years or so.

I would describe this lipstick colour as lavender-violet/light mauve-purple. It has a rich, creamy finish and contains absolutely no frost/shimmer at all, yet gives a glossy shine to the lips.

It has very rich pigmentation, which I like to have in my lipsticks. The colour looks quite unique and is unlike any other colour in my collection.  I also could not think of any dupes for this in any other brand. Do you have any suggestions about this?

What I Like about MAC Up The Amp Lipstick:

• Unique shade, would suit light to medium complexions.
• One swipe gives rich, creamy colour.
• In my opinion, there is no need to apply a lip liner as the lipstick tip gives a nice outline within the lips.
• Gives a glossy sheen to the lips.
• Lasts over 4 to 5 hours, survives meals and drinks too.
• Doesn’t accentuate fine lip lines nor does it settle into them.

What I Do Not Like about MAC Up The Amp Lipstick:

• No cons here, except that this kind of shade depends on your personal choice.

MAC Fortified Skin Enhancer SPF 35 +++, MAC Prep & Prime Pressed Powder

I have been using these prep and prime products for months. I was just waiting for the collection to launch in India. It is finally in the stores now.

MAC Fortified Skin Enhancer Claims : A tinted skin primer formulated with soft-focus powders to help even out skin tone and add radiance. Lightweight and invisible, it goes on under foundation or powder for a naturally perfect look and subtle glow. Helps protect against pollution and UV rays with SPF 35 protection. Available in four tints: Illuminate adds radiance to a sallow complexion; Neutralize calms a red, blotchy complexion; Adjust brightens dull skin; and Recharge adds a little “boost” to any dull complexion. Fragrance free.

These are actually perfect product for summers if you have pretty good skin to start with. Fortified skin enhancers are like lighter version of tinted moisturizers. These are tinted primers very high SPF – 35+++ and help you correct any redness if you may have.

Illuminate is a light pink based enhance. I personally use it on the high points of my face. During day time when I don’t need shiny highlighters, this does the job without adding too much shine or shimmer to the face and brightening up especially the under eye area.

Recharge is a medium skin tone based enhancer, which I like to use all over my face and then I just set my face with powder. It smoothens out the skin without making it look heavy. It barely offers a coverage but it gives that polished look to the skin. The tint may look quite strong in color but it just adjusts itself it to the skin tone color with a  few stroked of fingers. It does not settle in fine lines and since it is quite sheer, it does not get cakey at all. I don’t find it greasy too but this may not be an ideal product for those with oily skin tones. It does not make my skin shiny either.

It stays on for 4- 5 hours and after that i feel the need to powder my face. Also, it does illuminate the skin a bit but not in a shiny way.

Comes in nozzle tubes , which helps in controlling the amount of product. 

Swatches:

As you can see in blended swatches, the product become almost invisible leaving a smoother looking skin behind.  

Overall I’d say that the skin enhancers are not a must have. If you are a looking for a light coverage product, you’d rather pick up a tinted moisturizer. These are best for those who want to neutralize the skin. The biggest benefit I see is the high SPF, which makes it great  for summers but on the other hand , they are not excellent for photographs. I would use it till they last but may not purchase them. Although I do like them for how light they feel on my skin and make them excellent for summers but I am not too convinced either. A regular primer does a great job either ways.

MAC Prep & Prime Transparent Finishing Pressed Powder.

It is actually excellent. It does not cast a whitish layer and the powder is very sheer. I find it excellent fir setting in concealer especially. Great for setting the overall makeup as well. Keeps makeup looking fresh for super long. The only problem is that MAC has not included a powder puff in this too. Although this is more convenient and easier to carry around as opposed to the loose powder, I wish this had a puff included in it.  Must have for summers.

MAC Capricious Lipstick Review

Today’s review is on one of my favorite MAC lipsticks, “Capricious.” A few months back, I went to the MAC store to check the shade “Cosmo.” Unfortunately, I was not so happy of the way it looked on my NC42 skin.  I gave up the idea of picking Cosmo and started trying other shades. That is when I narrowed it down to “Plumful” and “Capricious.” As they did not have stock of “Plumful,” I picked up Capricious.

My Experience with MAC Capricious Lipstick:

MAC describes it as a “fanciful rose plum.”  On my lips, it looks more of a pinkish-mauve shade with a nice sheen. The website swatch for this particular shade was of not much use. It is a sheer lipstick but can be built to a medium coverage. Though I have slight pigmentation on my lips, I like to use these kind of sheer to medium shades.

It is a lustre finish lipstick, which is again my favorite finish. I’m not a big fan of matte/drying lipsticks. I feel that wet or glossy looking lipstick give a healthy look to the lips.

It is very moisturizing, so a lip balm underneath can be skipped. I would say we should skip the lip balm, as it is a sheer shade and it would be difficult to build the shade on the lips.

I’m happy about the fact that I would be able to finish this lipstick unlike my other lipsticks, as I need to re-apply it quite often, thanks to its low staying power (2-3 hours).  I wear it with a pink or mauve blush. It looks good with simple to moderately heavy eye makeup.

Pros of MAC Capricious Lipstick:

• A shade that would look good on almost all skin tones.
• Very moisturizing.
• Gives a healthy look to the lips.

Cons of MAC Capricious Lipstick:

• Its staying power, which I actually don’t mind.
• When I apply a little too much, the color bleeds slightly around the lips.

Do I Recommend MAC Capricious Lipstick?

If you are a fan of sheer lipsticks that give a healthy look to your lips, then MAC Capricious is for you, but not for girls who wants their lipsticks to stay for a solid amount of time.

My Biggest Haul Ever!

Hellooo Ladies!

I am super excited today, as I write this post.  Gosh, I shopped for makeup like a maniac yesterday. A mall in Delhi has MAC and Inglot stores at one arm’s distance to each other (you know which one I’m talking about, don’t you?), and after having followed IMBB and also writing here now, I just couldn’t resist myself.

It all started with a bad mood day yesterday.  I went to the mall, all alone, just to indulge in some retail therapy, and boy, how I hoarded on make-up stuff.

So, here’s all the stuff that I bought:

• MAC Products:

a. MAC Lip erase lip balm (Rs. 1400):  Its a one-of-a-kind product.  I had been eyeing this for a long time, and finally bought it. Its a lip concealer for girls with pigmented lips.
b. MAC Matte Creme (Rs. 1080):  Mattifying, gel-like product, to be worn over make-up (that’s what I was told) to control oil on the face. The MUA suggested this over the mattifying lotion, and I don’t mind trying this).
c. MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation (Rs. 1600):  Since summers are here, I wanted this for day wear, when I feel lazy to go through the primer-foundation-transluscent powder routine.
d. MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 (Rs. 1700): I bought this 2 months ago, but so many MAC products in just some time, I thought I’ll include this also in my haul post. I absolutely love this foundation. I have been using this product for a long time now (bought this after reading reviews on IMBB), and I must say, it’s a flawless product. Just that I do not like the smell of this foundation, but I really don’t mind, coz it suits my skin well.

Inglot Products:

a. Inglot Duraline (Rs. 490): Now, what can be said about this magical product. It transforms pigments and pressed eye-shadows to liners or to smudge-proof eyeshadows.
b. Inglot under eye concealer (Rs. 700): As the name suggests, its mainly for the under-eye area, but the MUA said this can be used for other parts of the face too, will try in a few days.
c. Inglot Freedom System 5 Palette-Round (Rs. 850): Just the palette cost me so much, bought only two eye-shadow refills for now. Will keep adding more shades with time (Thank God, I stopped somewhere, pheww!!)
d. Inglot Freedom System eye-shadow refills (Rs. 300 each): Will review the 2 shades in subsequent posts.

Well, thats about it for my haul. Most products have already been reviewed here on IMBB.  I am in love with my haul this time, just that I am broke now. No more makeup shopping for at least 3 months now (though its almost impossible).  I will review any products which have not been reviewed here soon.
