Aroma Magic Aloe Vera Sunscreen Gel with SPF 20

Hi All,

Hope you all beauties are doing good. O:) As the summers are coming, I’m sure everyone would have started looking up for “sun protection” products. Well, let me introduce the “Blossom Kochhar Aroma Magic Aloe Vera Sun Screen Gel (SPF 20).”

I have also used the “Lakme Sun Expert with SPF 24,” but I didn’t like it at all. It used to make me sweat a lot :jog: and I stopped using it!!! :spank:

My Experience with Aroma Magic Aloe Vera Sunscreen Gel with SPF 20:

I have been using this product for the last 2-3 years and it has given me great sun protection    . I have combination skin :struggle: with the t-zone being a bit extra oily (I tend to get pimples if I use cream). I never had breakouts with this. It doesn’t make me feel uncomfortable at all like the Lakme one.

Packaging:

It comes in a white color tube with a flip-open black screw cap. The details about the gel are printed on a thick paper, which is nicely glued to the tube. The flip cap has a small plastic piece, which covers the opening when you close it, ensuring there won’t be any leakage. The tube is made of flexible plastic and it is way too easy to squeeze the gel out of the tube. If by mistake, you take out extra gel, you can open the black cap and put it back. :specs: Trust me, when you are in a hurry, such things do happen!!!!

Shelf Life:

Two years from the date of manufacturing.

Pros of Aroma Magic Aloe Vera Sunscreen Gel with SPF 20:

A pea-sized drop of gel can cover your entire face.

It blends on the skin very easily, you don’t have to put any extra effort

It gets quickly absorbed by the skin (within seconds).

Extremely suitable for combination and oily skin people. As per my experience, I will say, it will be fine for dry skin people as well. :happydance:

After applying this sunscreen gel, you will not feel the need of using a moisturizer. :haanji:

Has SPF 20 along with protection against UVB and UVA sun rays.

Feels extremely light on skin. You won’t even remember you have applied something on your face.

There is no fragrance after applying it, not even for the initial few seconds.

Maximum of active ingredients are natural, so don’t have to worry much if you have sensitive skin.

Great gel for every day use as I don’t feel the need of moisturizing my skin.

Doesn’t make you feel suffocated!!! This is the most important reason because of which I use it every single day.

Not tested on animals.

Cons of Aroma Magic Aloe Vera Sunscreen Gel with SPF 20:

After applying the gel, wait for 2-3 minutes before going out in the sun, else you will get the feeling of having a plastic film on your face.

Tastes very bitter (I mean I used to drink milk after applying it and when I licked the “milk moustache,” it used to taste very bitter, worth mentioning I guess).

Available only with SPF 20, there is no other variant in gel form.

Price:

Rs. 180 for 120 ml.

Do I Recommend Aroma Magic Aloe Vera Sunscreen Gel with SPF 20?

Yes, for sure. It’s a lovely product, suitable for daily wear plus it’s on the natural side (ingredient wise).

IMBB Rating:

5/5, I love it to the core

I can easily say that this has been a good weekend for me as I amassed a lot of wealth in terms of body care and make-up products .:) It isn’t really a secret on IMBB how much of a Oriflame fan I am and so it shouldn’t be surprising that most of my products this weekend are from Oriflame

The pics of my haul are as follows:

makeup shopping

As is evident from the pics, I bought the following:

Oriflame Savannah Hand and Body Cream

Oriflame Body Talc in Romantic Floral

Oriflame Vision’s Soulmates Eye Shadow Duo: Romeo and Juliet

Oriflame Visions V For Your Eyes Only /Make your own palette eyeshadow trio

Elizabeth Arden Green Tea EDP

Elizabeth Arden’s Green Tea EDP
As was raved about in IMBB, I went ahead and got myself Elizabeth Arden’s Green Tea EDP and I can only one thing about it… I am Lovin it

Well, initially I wasn’t sure as to what kind of a smell I was to expect, so when I first took a whiff of the fragrance, I was pleasantly surprised to get a fresh, limey, iced-tea-ey, green-tea-ey smell. I wont lie by saying that I loved it from the moment on, but in a couple of whiffs and in a couple of spray I just fell for it… Hook line and sinker!

The smell is so refreshing and so fresh that you just can’t help but like it! One thing that I totally loved about it is that it’s smell is very very distinct, unlike anything I have ever smelled in perfumes!

Oriflame Make Your Own Palette Eye Shadow Trio

Oriflame custom palette

Well this was a very novel idea something like what Rati had written about for Inglot customizable palettes. Here, we could choose three colors from a range of them and then also choose a tray and voila your palette is ready. I chose Romantic Paris as my empty palette with the following eye shadow colors:

Oriflame custom palette

Devil → The purple one

Wicked → The blue one

Go Green

The swatches for each is as follows:

I haven’t really tried them out as yet… But they sure look promising… Oh! And they are matte shadows

Oriflame Vision’s Soulmates Eye Shadow Duo: Romeo and Juliet
The Soul Mates Eye shadow duo from Oriflame has always been my favorite range. They are highly pigmented and are very easily blendable. This one called Romeo and Juliet are in shades of beige and brown (non matte).

Oriflame Body Talc in Romantic Floral
Now this is one talc that I love smelling on and on and on. The container looks really pretty on the dresser and it smells yummy when put on. The smell lingers on for a long time and doesn’t wear out. I don’t really use talc and so I plan to give it away to a friend of mine.

Oriflame Savannah Hand and Body Cream
This is a new product introduced in this month’s catalogue it seems and I very reluctantly picked it up, mainly because of the heavy introductory discount on it. Well… It is amazing!!! It smells awesome and the texture and feel of the cream is out of this world. It works like a magic potion for dry skin and my skin feels extremely smooth and supple after applying it. And the fragrance is to die for!

I am a happy girl today

Avon Haul: Glimmersticks Diamonds Eyeliner and Ideal Shade Concealer Stick

Hi All, this is my first article and I couldn’t think of writing about any other stuff than my Avon Glimmersticks Diamonds eyeliners and Avon Ideal Shade Concealer stick which I bought in a recent haul. Surfing through many make up blogs, I read so much about Avon glimmerstick eyeliners-people raving about their superb staying power and color payoff that I was tempted to order a couple of them. Also in some blogs (especially from UK where AVON is one of the most popular brands) I read about the AVON Glimmersticks Diamonds eyeliners and swatches which showed awesome colors richly embellished with glitters but sadly these were not available in India. So as soon as my eyes fell upon the Avon’s September catalog, I literally jumped with joy. The AVON Glimmersticks Diamonds eyeliners are here- must be because of the onset of festival fiesta at this time. Along with these I also ordered the Avon Ideal Shade Concealer. I don’t have dark circles but have deep curiosity about concealers especially ones which come in easy to apply creamy stick forms.

AVON Glimmersticks Diamonds Eyeliners

So, these are the AVON Glimmersticks Diamonds eyeliners as shown in AVON online catalog. These are priced at Rs 179 each. There was an offer of two glimmersticks for Rs. 299 for this month (that means 1 for Rs 150!! WoW! ) and the Avon representative told me that I would get one free if I bought 4 of them. However, for a trial I ordered the Black Ice and Twilight Sparkle (blue). Four shades are available currently but one of the most beautiful plum shades (saw a swatch and FOTD in some blog) is still not here.

Avon Liners

These (pic below) are the pretties that I got. These are retractable pencils which glide on smoothly on the upper eyelids as well as can be used on the lower lids (which I found difficult with other long staying retractable liners like the Lakme 9 to 5). However, a word of caution: Do Not apply pressure and do not roll out more than ½ a centimeter of this product as the tips will break as happened to my Black Ice.

Avon Glimmersticks

You can see the amount of product you will get with this: I guess even using every day these may last well for 6 months (Reminder : the price is only Rs 179 for single ones!!!) Now the Swatches:

Avon Glimmersticks swatches

AVON Glimmersticks Diamonds Eyeliners: With Flash
Twilight Sparkle (top) and Black Ice
Photo: Without Flash

As you see the shimmer payoff is really good. The blue color is excellent and I was looking exactly for this dark blue shade for a long time but every time ended up buying either a powder blue (Maybelline eyestudio) or a royal blue (Lakme Nine to 5 in Sapphire)

Pros of AVON Glimmersticks Diamonds:

Great shimmery finish

Smooth application

Lasting power is really good (well I haven’t off course tested these on a Kolkata July day! That’s like putting any makeup through acid test !)

Price!! OMG I haven’t yet found a retractable long wearing liner at this low a price!! Highly

go-n-grab-able!!!)

Cons:
Particularly nothing but only those typical problems with all retractable liners: can’t use it in hurry as these will tend to break if you apply pressure and that ½ cm rule, rest everything is nice with it.

Overall Rating: 4+/5

AVON Ideal Shade Stick Concealer

Well this is my first concealer. I read rave reviews about this one, telling that it’s really creamy and blends like a dream. So just for trial’s sake I got this one, and such trials don’t harm much when the price is only Rs 179!!!

This is the page from Avon’s online catalog. It is available in 2 shades Medium and light. I ordered the Medium (that’s one problem with online shopping-you just have to pray that you get the right shades!).

Avon foundation

Below shown are the pictures of the product and swatches. The amount of product is not much, not a problem for me because I don’t really have the dark circle problem or major blemishes and acne marks to hide. The formulation is really creamy and it’s easy to apply as well: dab on the ring finger and pat under eyes.

Concealer

AVON Ideal Shade Concealer Stick in Medium

Pros:

Creamy formula

Easy to blend

Price (Rs 179!)

Cons: It may be the wrong shade, or my lack of experience with concealers, thar after applying ,my under eyes are looking like Celina Jaitley’s (white!! That is..hehe) I think I need more of video tutorials on concealer application. The option of shades is also pretty limited.

P.S: I was thinking of using this as an eyeshadow primer, the creamy-yet-non sticky formula might work well in setting powder shadows for a long time.

Overall rating: :-* :-*:-*

MY VERY FIRST HAUL AFTER READING IMBB

This is my first post on IMBB. So, I thought I should start with what all I got after reading the posts out here and what all is there in my WISHLIST, and I am so dying to buy all of it..

Before coming across IMBB, I was not much into makeup n stuffs related to skin n all. In my school days and college, all I used is a kajal, lip balm, soap for my face and a sunscreen. THAT IS IT. While my sis was busy applying lotion all over her body, I never really took care of my skin. Since I used to stay in gangtok, which is a hill station, my skin was in good condition. But all the problems started when I got married and shifted to siliguri(W.B.).

The climate out here is really humid so an extra effort has to be made to keep skin in good condition and also the combination skin was driving me nuts.

When I came across IMBB, the blog, I found it quite useful and thought of buying some of the products reviewed.
I will not be reviewing any of the products because its already there .

How to be a Smart Makeup Addict?

I have a confession. I am a makeup addict. There, I said it. Feels good to just admit that . Ever since my childhood I have had a fascination towards makeup. I used to often sneak around my older sister’s makeup. I used to love wearing her Lakme Liquid eyeliner back in school. But all along I have had it under control. I am never an impulsive buyer. So while I used to indulge once in a while, I never spent too much money on makeup. And then, I moved to the US and got introduced to the world of beauty blogs and the rows and rows of makeup in every other drugstore! And I could just stand in sephora for hours, like a kid in a candy store! Honestly, when I read all these beauty bloggers rave about products and to say I get tempted SO much is an understatement. It just never seems to stop. I buy one product and I already have 10 new products on my wish list. Honestly, I get disgusted with myself at times for being so materialistic and for never having a satisfaction with the makeup I already (BTW , I only have a very limited collection and I like it that way). But, I am proud to say that I have it under control and I am sure you can too. Here’s how I deal with my makeup craziness.

1)	Set a limited amount of budget.

It’s the easiest way to bring some sanity among this craziness. I know everybody knows about setting a budget. But what I do is this – I have a limited budget for my monthly expenses. I take out cash for the same amount and keep it with me. I make sure I do all my monthly expenses/makeup purchases out of that cash that I have. So, every month I know exactly how much I spend. When you actually dish out cash for your cosmetic expenses, you start to feel the actual value and worth for the product. It’s easy to get lost with your credit cards/debit cards. You do not actually feel the money leaving you. It’s all virtual. I feel a lot responsible ever since I started spending from my limited cash budget. Of course when I do go over my budget, I can always take out more money if I need it. But honestly I have never felt the need. Money saved in one month is additional money for the next month .:)

2)	You don’t have to buy every product mentioned on beauty blogs

Whoever started this thing – makeup and beauty blogs? I was so blissfully unaware of so many products before. But now, there are just too many products out there ! But, I also have discovered SO many amazing products, thanks such wonderful blogs out there. So, the trick is to read these blogs purely for pleasure. Just because a blogger raves about a product, you do not have to go and buy it. Tempted? Take a deep breath Evaluate what you like about the product? Why do you feel the need to have that product? If it is a lipstick that you are craving, find out how many lipsticks you have currently. How many of those do you find yourself using often? How many lipsticks have you bought in the recent six months? These kinds of questions will open up your mind and you will probably find yourself in position where you no longer crave lipsticks at all for a while.

3)	Think, not twice but thrice.

Always, think thrice before buying a makeup item. Even it is not very expensive. Every small item will amount to good money in total. Case in point – I have so many lip balms/eye pencils lying around with me. But, I only use 2 or 3 of them on a regular basis. What is the point in buying these items and letting them sleep in your closet? You could have saved that money for something else. If I had probably saved all my silly little miscellaneous purchases, I could have easily bought so many expensive makeup items that I lust for quite often. Here is where my limited cash budget comes handy. Every little purchase makes me realize the value of purchase coz that purchase is decreasing my monthly cash availability. That way I keep a check on myself.

4)	Do you want it or do you need it?

There are certain items that we NEED. And then there are items that we just “WANT”. For Example, you face wash is a need item. So is your shampoo, body wash, moisturizers and your regular eye liner/kajal etc. If you run out of any of these, go ahead and get it without guilt. But then there are these cosmetic items that tempt us every now and then. Just One lip stick, Just One eye shadow, Just One lip gloss, Just One mascara later you have already spent way too much. This is in addition to your monthly “need” items. So, without realizing it we buy so many such products. Often times I have noticed that the joy I had while purchasing the product almost becomes nil once I get it home and start using it. It then disappears into the dark corner of my dresser drawer. So categorize your purchases into “want” and “need”. Believe me it makes my life a whole lot easier.

Budget Shopping

Source

5) How often do you see yourself using the product?

Here is what I mean. I am not an eye shadow person at all. On a daily basis, I just can’t get myself to wear eye shadows. But thanks to these beauty blogs & YouTube I gave into my eye shadow temptation and got a couple of MAC eye shadows, an urban decay palette and other miscellaneous drug store ones. They are all just lying around without being used much at all. Once in a blue moon, I get the mood to wear eye shadow. I have no clue why I bought a palette!

So evaluate your beauty regimen, and find out products that you use more and ones that you don’t. That’ll give you an idea when you are tempted to make an impulsive purchase.

6)	Do you have a similar product in your makeup arsenal?

Take a second and think about the products that you already own. Is the new item that you are lusting after similar to anything you already have? For example, all my lipsticks are pink/red toned. I do not have a single brown lipstick. The next time I see a brown lipstick I will go ahead and get it as it has been brewing in my head a lot over the past couple months. If it is a completely new/unique product nothing like anything in your collection, go ahead and indulge.

Budget SHopping

Source

7)	Do not fall into the BOGO trap in the drugstores

This is for people in the US. CVS, Walgreens, Rite aid etc – all these stores keeping throwing buy one get 50% off or very rarely buy one get one free. Do not fall for those unless you actually want to get 2 or more items. I have actually done the math. All cosmetic items are priced higher in the drug stores when you compare it to Walmart or Target (Walmart being the cheapest of all, mostly). So essentially what these offers do is that 1) They tempt you, 2) They force you to buy more than you need, 3) Make you spend more money. Most people happily think that they got a good deal. But if they had walked into the nearest Walmart and bought just that one item they need, it would work cheaper because you buy only one item and also it works out to be the same if you had got it on a buy one get free offer. So, my point is that do not fall into every buy one get one offer. Do your math and if you are convinced, then buy it.

  Be an informed customer

Just because somebody on the internet raves about a product, it does not necessarily mean that it will work for you. This is wear beauty blogs turn to be a real blessing. Just a couple of years back, we would just go the stores and get cosmetics based on our own judgment. But now, we have so many experienced makeup junkies who tear upon a product and talk about every possible aspect of the product. Not only that we are just a click away from finding a swatch of almost any makeup product. Take advantage of this and do your research. These days I almost never get any makeup product without reading a couple of reviews and I gotta it is working amazingly well. I have been quite happy with almost all of my recent purchases.

9) Perform Makeup Detox once in a while

Just like detoxing your body by flushing out toxins, every once in while it’s good to detoxify your makeup collection. Raid out your makeup vanity and check for all the expiry dates. Are there some products that you have never used in the recent past? Consider giving them away to friends or others who might find some use out of it. Have a blog? Do a blog sale for products that don’t work for you, but may work for others. Doing this detox routine every six months or so, not only will give you a chance to save yourself from putting expired products on your face ,it will also give you an idea of what you need when you do your next makeup shopping.

10)	Know your limitation

Makeup craziness comes to women of all ages. Thank god, I was not aware of these “makeup” blogs when I was in college or in school. I would have gone bonkers with the sheer amount of products that these blogs review. When you are studying, you are on a limited budget with limited pocket money. Don’t beat yourself up just because you cannot afford high end products. Believe me; it’s good to get decently priced brands and experiment and play with them rather than going high end. Save the Chanel, MAC, Lancôme etc for when you can actually afford them. Understand your monetary limitation and shop according to that.

I would like to conclude by mentioning a couple of my favorite beauty blogs.

IMBB: It goes without saying that IMBB is one of my favourites..I stalk this blog every few hours to see if there are any new articles…Need I say more? I am just proud to say I am a part of it and should thank Rati for giving this great opportunity .

Beauty Addict: Besides the fact that the blog dates back to 2005 , a time when I didn’t even know people blogged about beauty & makeup , this is one blog that gives a lot of confidence that the author knows what she is talking about. Kristen talks about high-end to drugstore brands and her reviews are nothing short of perfect. They are Concise & effective and drive the point right through you.

Makeupandbeautyblog: LOVE this blog. Again, Karen reviews products from all walks of life. Love her humor and her “Tabs” related posts. The sheer amount of effort and work she puts into her blog shows how seriously she takes her blog. She gained my trust, when she raves about something; I trust that there must be something great about the product. She conducts giveaways like no other and can I also a take a moment to appreciate her promptness when it comes to giveaway. I had a left a random comment on one of here giveaway and she promptly emailed me to get my details. Within a week, the prize arrived at my doorstep. How awesome is that?

Finally!! I hope I made sense with this article. Makeup addiction doesn’t have to drill a deep hole in your wallet if you plan accordingly . If you guys have any other tips that you follow with respect to managing your makeup addiction, please share it in the comments section. Would love to hear from you guys .
