Faces Powder Blush in Light Thulian Pink

Blushes have become an essential part of my makeup regimen nowadays. It’s surprising how, even a year ago I used to despise them-partly because I couldn’t make out how to apply them without looking like Marie Antoinette –or else I didn’t know about brands that sold blushes that are not brick, brown or fuschia. With IMBB happening-blush happened to me . In the early stages of my fancy with blushes-I only loved shimmery peaches. However, I slowly realized-thanks to awed “is Christmas early!!!” gazes from passing by ladies-I realized the need for blushes with neutral shades-to get the “barely there” feel yet with a subtle healthy glow to flaunt. I found just that in my latest buy-the Faces powder blush in Thulian Pink.

Faces Blush Light Thulian Pink 03 Price Rs: 299.

First of all I was happy to see the lovely collection of neutral blushes offered by Faces. They seemed like a pleasant diversion from the regular shiny and “screaming-highlights” type blushes I have owned till now-well except the Lotus one. There was a beige shade, a fuschia and this pale pink one that I got. Now for wheatish skinned people-pale blushes (or any pale cosmetics) brings with them lot of apprehension-what if it washes out the color of the face-or stands out as a pale powder etc etc. When I swatched the blush on the back of my wrist-I felt the same-and was a lot unsure on whether this color would work. Still-I really wanted a nude almost “no-color” blush and swore that I won’t bag peaches this time.

Faces Light Thulian Pink is a pale-almost translucent coral-pink powder blush that comes in a round black container fitted with a mirror. I didn’t find any brush provided along with.

The carton says:
• Vitamin E and Hyaluronic acids enriched, minimizes skin imperfections
• Long stay, easy o blend color formula with a creamy formula
• Lanolin free
• Made in Italy

Swatch (2 swipes)

Blended Swatch

My take on Faces Blush in Light Thulian Pink:

I simply love the color it imparts on the cheeks. In the pan it looks peachy-pink. On the cheeks-the blush comes out like pale satin-y pink and the color is buildable. The texture is silky matte. There is absolutely no shimmer in it. It is very soft and glides smoothly on the skin. Although the pigmentation is not very intense-it blends beautifully-and there is absolutely no powdery feel or fall outs. On one swipe-it is almost colorless-on 2 3 swipes-the pale coral pink appears on cheeks. The cheeks appear very smooth, glowing and healthy on applying this blush and the sheen is visible yet not OTT. In one word-this is exactly the color I wanted to buy-neutral but lustrous without shimmer. The color I guess would suit fair to wheatish skins best-but can add subtle color to any skin tone if used judiciously.

Pros of Faces Blush in Light Thulian Pink:

1. Lovely color-this is off course my personal choice-but many of you looking for a soft pink satin finish blush would love it. The other shades are nice too.
2. It gives a healthy glow to the skin apart from the color. The skin appears very smooth on applying this. 3. There is no powdery feel. The blush blends beautifully.
4. No fall outs, no mess on brush bristles and no break outs reported by my “Miss Finicky” skin
5. The mirror is nice in size for touch ups. Container is pretty cute.
6. Price is very reasonable for such a nice blush.

Cons of Faces Blush in Light Thulian Pink:
1. No brush provided
2. Ingredient list not mentioned
3. The product website doesn’t have updates about the latest or available products

Rating: 4/5

A little FOTD.Can you see the subtle pink tinge of the blush?

MAC describes Ladyblush as warm neutral coral.

Price : Rs 1150

Ladyblush is light slightly warm peachy pink. It is a cream blush. MAC has relaunched Blushcremes as Creamblend blushes recently and Ladyblush is part of that as well.

What I like about MAC Ladyblush Blushcreme:

It is a nice cream blush. It glides on your skin easily and blends easily.

On my normal to dry skin, it stays around 4 hours with foundation as a base. I tried it on Navpreet, who also has a dry skin. She did not have any foundation or tinted moisturiser and her skin drank up with blush within one and a half hour or so. On FG’s super oily skin, it stayed for more than 3 hours. She did set her face with powder after applying this blush. It gave a shiny look to her cheeks and she had to blot her face once in these three hours. It did not clog her pores. However, on all three of us it did not get patchy at all.

I would say that blushcreme is mainly for people with normal to dry skin. It gives that dewy look to the skin and on oily skin, it just looks shiny.

It is quite pigmented.

What I do not like about Ladyblush Blushcreme

Ladyblush the color on its own did not suit FG’s warm olive skin tone (NC 42) , mine NC 35 or Navpreet’s NC 30. It was just not blending with our complexion. We could see light pink blush “applied” on our cheeks but it was not going with our skintones . There is not enough warmth in the colour that it would give the natural flush to your cheeks. If you are fair and have slightly pink undertones , this might be a flattering colour for you. From what I see this is not a great shade for most medium to dusky skintones.

The texture is a little gooey and buttery. So storing it in a cool place would be the best thing to do.

Also, for some reason I could not blend blushcreme very well with my fingers. The texture is a little thick and it is best applied with a duo fibre brush.

I am not totally disappointed with the product as a whole because it works well as abase for my pink powder blushes but the colour itself is not too flattering on me. If you are fair NC 20-25 , this would make a gorgeous natural cheek color for you.

The new cremblend blushes are much much better than the blushcremes texture wise. I guess MAC was aware of the shortcomings of these and hence relaunched their cream blushes with a better formula. ( Comparison post coming up today. )

Ladyblush blushcreme swatches : not blended, blended.

And this is how ladyblush blushcreme looks on me. If you closely see , you can see light pink color applied on my cheek plane. The more I apply the more whitish pinkish it looks.

Indian Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating : :-* + 0.5

Ladyblush is quite similar to NYX Cream Blush in Natural . Natural has more warmth than Ladyblush.

PS : I tried it at the store before purchasing but guess the lightings at the store tricked me.

Benefit Sugar Bomb Swatch

Benefit SugarBomb gives a very natural l peachy glow with slight goldeny touch to your cheeks. The blush is very sheer. You would have to load your brush to apply it and if you want the colour to really show then you would have to apply the blush two three times. If you dark complexion, the only thing that will show is the fine golden sheen on your cheeks. It would look only has a highlighter if you have wheatish to dusky skin tone.

The powder is definitely finely milled and is very soft but the sturdy packaging keeps the powder safe. I am not a huge fan of its colour payoff because I like strongly pigmented blushes but this gives a beautiful glow to cheeks and you can never go over board with it. You could use this blush every single day and it never looks OTT. Even during the bright day light the golden sheen doesn’t look tacky or shiny. It stays well through out the day on me—the peachy colour fades by evening but the golden sheen still stays and keeps the glow maintained.

Benefit blushes are expensive but there is 12 gm of product. Most blushes have 5-6 gm of product.

Overall, I quite like the product but I have not fallen in love with it. I have to swirl the blush atleast 2-3 times on my cheeks to make it show on my NC 35 skin and it’s a lot of work for me. I like my colours to show in one sweep. But if you are someone who is fair complexioned and likes your blush to give there-but-still-not-there kind of a natural glow on your cheeks, it is a great option. It’s pretty and nice but there is something that doesn’t appeal to me about it.

The things that I don’t like about Benefit Sugarbomb is that it has a strong scent to it and it sometimes gets on me. I am not a huge fan of perfumy blushes. Another thing is that you cannot carry this blush with you. It’s just a cardboard box that would wear off easily with rough handling. May be I was expecting a little more pigment in it…

Here I have sweeped the blush atleast 4-5 times on my cheek and this is how it shows:

Note: All images can be enlarged for better view.

Dust some blush on your nose, chin and forehead as well. This would give a very natural look. If you don’t have a cheek stain, you can also use a powder highlighter such as Trace Gold from Colorbar. I am not carrying it with me these days so used the cheek stain, instead. Use powder highlighter with a blush brush only.

You can increase or decrease the intensity of the blush colour depending on your likability. I applied it quite intensely for the tutorial sake. You can go round and round with blush or just up and down. Just try it out and see what works best for you.

Where to use highlighter?

You can use highter on all the high areas of your face- nose bridge , cupid’s bow, above arches of your eyebrows and top of your cheeks. I don’t use highlighter on my nose bridge becasue I already have a tall nose and highlighting it more makes it look extra tall. So if you wanto make your nose look taller, you know what to do.

Also, after you have applied lipstick, dab some highlight colour (golden, silvers, coppers etc.) in the middle of your upper and lower lips with your ring finger . Then apply gloss. This would give a nice shine and great lip wear for your evening parties/ night outs.
