My Views on The Body Shop Natrulift Firming Eye Roll On:

The Body Shop is a brand that I always like and they have promotions on their website all the time.  This product is targeted for the care of under eye area; for cooling, hydrating and brightening of under eye area.  The packaging attracted me the most, a very tempting Red.  I love the packaging.  Its active ingredient is pomegranate. The pomegranate peel provides an ingredient similar to retinol , reducing the appearance of fine lines around the eye area. The product resembles the Garnier roll on, just like a fat pen and when you unscrew the top, you will see a metal-like roll-on tip.

I apply it daily and it feels very cool around my eyes and I love it.  The roll on has a transparent formula and it dries quickly.  It doesn’t hinder my eye makeup and I like this feature about it.  I apply Vitamin E moisturising Eye Cream after applying this.  I didn’t notice any irritation with this roll on.  I keep this next to my laptop and apply it during the day or night when my eyes needs to feel refreshed from too much computer work. This is a refreshing product that imparts a super cool feel and it hydrates my under eye area really well.  I even think it helped a little with the dark circles under the eyes.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist Review

So, my first article for IMBB was up recently, and that got me all excited and I wanted to write another one. I figured that I would do a product review in case you guys got bored of me ranting on about clothes.  I am not really the kind of person that goes all out when it comes to cosmetics, but I really want to share this review on a product I have been using for a while.

What The Body Shop has to say about The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist:

“A quick skin pick-me up and excellent for setting make-up. Spritz it on for instant refreshment, moisture, and protection. With a delicate rosewater scent.”

Alright, so basically, The Body Shop doesn’t say much, but I picked up this face mist because I was looking for something to set makeup and give an even finish. Again, I don’t use a compact, foundation or any kind of base 99% of the time. This was more for the days I’d use a concealer under my eyes to wipe out any evidence of those late nights, and blush.

TBS had another Vitamin C face mist as well, but I ended up picking this because of the calm pale pink bottle instead of the orange one (which is weird because I am pretty much obsessed with orange).

Packaging:

It comes in a pale baby pink, reasonable sturdy, plastic bottle with a transparent white cap and nozzle. It looks very relaxing.

Price:

INR 620 for a quantity of 3.3 fl oz (100 ml approximately).

Shelf Life:

3 Years.

My Take on The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist:

As far as I can tell, this product is working well for me. I spray it on both sides of my face once I am done with the makeup and it sets well. It softens the look and doesn’t leave any harsh patches. It feels like it melts it all into my skin instead of letting it sit on top. I was a little apprehensive about the smell since I’m not that crazy about rose water, but it’s mild enough to be pleasant. I carry it around in my bag all day and I keep expecting the plastic cap to fall off, but it hasn’t even once so far. All in all, a reasonably good product.

Summing it up:

Pros of The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist:

• Works really well for light makeup.
• Smells pleasant.
• It’s refreshing and has vitamin E, making it an excellent pick-me-up for your skin.
• Easy to carry.

Cons of The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist:

• May not work as well for heavier makeup.
• The bottle isn’t transparent, so you have no idea how much of the product is left.
• The bottle seems travel friendly so far, but their body mists have exactly the same packaging and their caps do keep falling off.

Would I Repurchase The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist ?

I wouldn’t mind, but I’d like to try out their Vitamin C version and M.A.C.’s Fix+ to see if they’re any better.

The Body Shop Body Butter Duo – Sweet Pea

I love body butters, a must-have in winters. Here, winter is gone and spring has arrived, but the temperature goes down below 10 degrees in the night. By afternoon, it’s in the range of 15-19 degrees and as such my skin is a bit confused. If not moisturised properly, then overnight, it tends to dry.

I picked up the Body Shop Body Butter Duo – Sweet Pea some time back and am glad I did because it’s perfect for this weather.

Product Description:

This twin pot contains two types of moisture: a light cream for where skin needs less hydration and a rich cream for drier areas like elbows and knees. It has a sweet, floral scent.

My Experience with The Body Shop Body Butter Duo – Sweet Pea:

I love the dual section provided in the tub. It’s like yin-yang. One section has the body butter for normal skin and the other for dry-skinned areas. The one for dry-skinned areas is thick and creamy and the other one is thinner. However, both are very good at moisturising. The smell is delicious, it’s a mildly sweet floral smell. What I liked best about this was that it gets absorbed well into the skin and keeps it hydrated and moisturised for a good part of the entire day (around 16-18 hours).  Because of the weather here, I need to reapply it before bedtime. It doesn’t make my skin greasy or weighed down like some other body butters do and added plus point is the lovely baby pink colour

Pros of The Body Shop Body Butter Duo – Sweet Pea:

• Pleasant fragrance, I love it!
• Good hydration which lasts for long.
• Gets absorbed well.

Cons of The Body Shop Body Butter Duo – Sweet Pea:

• The smell, though I love the smell, I am disappointed that it doesn’t linger on for long. Wish the staying power of the fragrance was longer and a little stronger scent would have been good. Again, this is my personal opinion.
• A bit pricey. I can get a good body butter for half this one’s price.

Price:

£12.50 for 200 ml tub.

IMBB Rating:

4/5, I would have had no complaints if the fragrance was a tad bit stronger and if it lingered on for longer after application.

Will I Repurchase The Body Shop Body Butter Duo – Sweet Pea?

I am in two minds. I liked it as it works well. However, like I mentioned, I have used other body butters priced better than this. Probably, if it comes on sale on the Body Shop site, I may stock it up.

The Body Shop Love ETC Eau De Parfum

I am back to review another TBS product.  This is part of my massive part-by-part haul; pics of which I will send in soon Love Etc has been on my “wanted list” ever since the first time I sampled it when I was in college. It has a lovely fragrance with hints of vanilla, spice and musk and a hint of the fruity, so it was” love at first smell” for me :hihi: . I finally bought it in the recent sale before Jan 26th.

Product Description:

The perfume of love as a universal force – the first ever emotional-led fragrance at The Body Shop. A highly addictive, warm and radiant fragrance which embodies the exuberance and personality of our brand.

Price:

Rs. 1245 for 30 ml.

The packaging is cute and colourful, the box is white and has tiny multi-coloured hearts clustered around the word “Love Etc” in girly pink letters. The inside of the box is hot pink and the bottle is transparent with a bronze screw-on cap. It has a simple spritz nozzle.

Coming to the fragrance itself, it sprays on in a fine mist and has a not-too-overpowering or strong scent, but one that lingers. It has top notes of pear, neroli and bergamot; middle notes of jasmine, heliotrope and lily-of-the-valley and the base notes are vanilla, sandalwood and musk cream. The overall mood and effect of this perfume is fun, youthful and girly without being overtly fruity/floral. Of course, the way perfumes smell and the effect they leave also depends on individual skin chemistry. The vanilla, the subtle fruit flavors and the musk stand out together on my skin and the staying power is pretty amazing too. I can still smell faint hints of it (it’s almost 2 am right now) and I put it on at about 12.30 pm today!

Pros of The Body Shop Love ETC Eau De Parfum:

• For those who don’t like floral and love musky, vanilla-based scents, this is for you! This smells heavenly.
• Stays on for at least 8 hours if not more.
• Sprays on well in a fine mist.
• Cute packaging.

Cons of The Body Shop Love ETC Eau De Parfum:

• I can’t think of any except that the shape of the bottle is a bit annoying for me to hold in my hand, but I don’t think it would be a problem for any of you guys.

Would I Repurchase The Body Shop Love ETC Eau De Parfum?

My Experience with The Body Shop White Musk Sumptuous Silk Shower Gel:

I keep reading and ignoring the fact that soap is not good for skin. Then, I thought I will give this gel a chance to win me over. It is a clear gel with a hint of lilac color.  It is not creamy and flows easily out of the bottle.

As soon as you start rubbing the gel on the loofah, it starts lathering nicely and the bathroom is filled with a strong musk smell. I loved the smell. It is easy to wash off and leaves you with a clean feeling. Skin feels smooth and moisturized. I did not get the stretchy dry skin feeling I usually get after I take bath with a soap. However, you have to apply body lotion afterwards anyway.

The smell lingers on you for one or two hours after which it fades away. If you follow it up with the White Musk body lotion and perfume, the musk scent lingers on you all day. :woot:

Pros of The Body Shop White Musk Sumptuous Silk Shower Gel:

• Soap free.
• Strong musk smell, which lingers on you for a few hours.
• Skin did not get dry after bathing and felt smooth.
• Lathers nicely.
• Will last long since only a few drops are enough to give you a good lather.
• Can be used on all skin types.

Cons of The Body Shop White Musk Sumptuous Silk Shower Gel:

• Even though it is moisturizing, you have to follow it up with a body lotion.
• It is costlier than other brands where you get much bigger bottle for the same price and quality.

IMBB Rating:

4/5.  This is a great shower gel which will not strip your body of its moisture. All musk scent lovers should definitely try this out and since most men like musk smell, the boys in the house too will be happy to use this.

The Body Shop Spoon Foot File

Claims : Best if you want to: Be a smooth operator with a spoon-shaped, double-sided filing tool that removes rough skin from soles and exfoliates other areas.

How it works:
Use after a bath or shower on wet skin.
A coarse side made of glass sand is abrasive to help smooth away stubborn, hard skin.
A smooth side made of glass sand gently exfoliates and massages.

Price : Rs 400 approx

My Experience :

I picked up this foot file some time back and I find it so worth it. There are lots of things I like about this:

• I like the handle and the size of this foot file. It is neither too big, not too small so I find it easy to control.
• The bottom side is perfect to get rid of  hard dead skin on heels, ankles.   The upper side is more gentle and rounded, perfect for the delicate top area of the feet.
• Once you have used it, you can hang it so it stays dry and clean all the time.
• It’s a pretty blue.
• It is very light weight so you can take it on your travels.
• It is made up of glass sand so it would last super long.

Overall I love it. It is one of the very good foot file I have used in a very long time. Definitely recommended.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Blackhead Exfoliating Wash

Hello Beauties!

“Blemish free skin ke liye kuch bhi karega!”  That was my motto when I bought this face wash from The Body Shop. The catch phrases like “blackhead exfoliating,” “blemish-free,” “unclog pores” and “invigorated” hooked me and I walked out of the shop dreaming of “ugly duckling turning into a beautiful swan” kind of miracle, but alas, it proved to be quite a dud from my favourite brand. Read on to know why.

I have a lot of expectations from anything with tea tree oil. “Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash” from the same range had helped me a lot in clearing up my skin.  So, my only problem when I picked up this face wash was an occasional pimple and a few blackheads from all the dust and grime which made my nose their permanent residence. So, I was glad to find a product designed specifically to tackle the very thing I was struggling with.

Cost:

Rs. 620/- for 100 ml.

Product Description:

An everyday creamy facial wash, perfect for anyone with skin displaying a build-up of blackheads. Use it everyday to help unclog pores, gently exfoliating to remove trapped dirt, oil and dead skin cells, so your skin can be blemish-free, look invigorated, clear, clean and beautifully smooth.

Ingredients:

• Community Trade organic tea tree oil from Kenya – an ingredient renowned for its anti-bacterial benefits, an infusion perfect to help blemished skin.
• Tamanu Oil from Madagascar – traditionally used to promote healthy-looking skin and has fantastic skin moisturising properties.
• Lemon Tea Tree from Kenya – Anti-bacterial to give the products a zesty fragrance.

Instructions:

Lather Tea Tree Skin Blackhead Exfoliating Wash. Massage gently into the face and neck with fingertips in an outward circular motion. Rinse using clean water.

My Take on The Body Shop Tea Tree Blackhead Exfoliating Wash:

The face wash comes in a convenient tube form with a flip-open cap.  It is a pretty light green colour, smooth, creamy and light paste with small brown visible beads. The beads are quite fine and far too sparse in number to aid any exfoliation; maybe it is mild since it is a daily use product, but for someone used to stronger scrubs and beads, it is sort of little annoying because I literally have to chase the beads on my face in an effort to exfoliate the “problem areas.”  The biggest flaw in the product (at least according to me) is that it does not lather. I just do not approve of a face wash which doe not lather even one bit.

I have used the aloe face wash from TBS and although it does not lather like regular face washes, but at least it did! This one just spread to a slick transparent liquid which just slides on my face. I do not get the clean feeling even after massaging it for a minute and the presence of the sparse beads do not help the matter.  It takes a little more water to completely wash it off than a normal lathering face wash does. Since I do not wear makeup, I cannot comment whether it washes off all traces of it. I use almond oil to remove the kajal and the face wash removes the traces of oiliness also. The main complaint is that it does not help in reduction or eradication of the existing blackheads and the reduction in blemishes as claimed is a long shot.

Pros of The Body Shop Tea Tree Blackhead Exfoliating Wash:

• Cleans sufficiently, I do not use makeup, so cannot comment on that, but it removes “kajal smudges” properly.
• Tube is pretty to look at and the face wash itself is like “pista souffle”

Cons of The Body Shop Tea Tree Blackhead Exfoliating Wash:

• Does not lather.
• Not grainy enough to aid exfoliation.
• Does not fulfill its claims of removing blackheads.
• Expensive.

Final Word:

2.5/5 (can skip it, not too great, especially considering the price).

The Body Shop Banana Shampoo and Conditioner

I picked up The Body Shop’s Banana Shampoo and Conditioner a while back and after using it, have come to really like it.

Growing up, I always thought The Body Shop products smelt incredibly funny and very kind of weird and sticky.  Over Christmas, I received a “The Body Shop Body Butter and Body Shop Bath Mitts” as gifts and loved both the products.  This has made me re-try Body Shop products.

My Take on The Body Shop Banana Shampoo and Conditioner:

Both the shampoo and conditioner are incredibly moisturizing.  I have noticed that my hair is a lot less frizzy after using them.  Also, my hair breaks a lot less when I am shampooing with this shampoo which is great.

This is by far the most delicious-smelling shampoo and conditioner I have ever used.  It smells so good that I almost want to eat it, mix a banana smoothie with some pineapple ice cream and you sort of get this smell (clearly I was hungry when I was writing this :hihi: ).  Not to be a sucker for packaging but a yellow shampoo which smells like a banana-pineapple ice cream smoothie at 6 am in the morning, yes please, its the puuuuurrrrffffeect wake me up – what say? :toothygrin:

The only negative I have to say about this product is that you really need to work it through your hair before you get suds, but it does lather up really well once you work it through your hair.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Facial Oil

After reading about the benefits of all kinds of vitamins, I too wanted to add some to my skin care routine. I checked out The Body Shop in SGS Mall, Pune and tada, they have Vitamin C and Vitamin E range. :happydance:

Vitamin E is an anti-oxidant which fights the aging process and can be used for treating a variety of skin issues. The body shop Vitamin E range consists of around 20 products with Face wash, Moisturizers, Mask, Face oil, Scrub, Face serum, Eye cream, Toner, Soap, etc. I was using Olay 7-in-1 serum and cream religiously during that time and hence did not want to buy another moisturizer and so Vitamin E Facial oil became the chosen one.

Product Description by Body Shop:

An aromatic, pre-moisturiser treat for the skin to boost moisturisation, nourish the skin when used as part of a daily regime. Absorbs quickly into the skin to leave it feeling soothed, silky-smooth and perfectly prepared for your daily moisturiser. Ideal for dry skin. Non comedogenic.

Main Ingredients:

• Wheat germ, rice bran and soya oils – are naturally high in Vitamin E.
• Grape seed and jojoba oils – to nourish.
• A blend of essential oils including rose – to soothe the skin and the senses.

Triticum Vulgare Germ Oil, Corylus Avellana Nut Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Glycine Soja Oil, Oryza Sativa Bran Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Boswellia Carterii Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia Oil, Linalool, Citronellol, Limonene, Geraniol, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil, Vetiveria Zizanoides Oil, Anthemis Nobilis Oil, Daucus Carota Sativa Seed Oil, Chamomilla Recutita Extract, Citral.

How To Use:

Gently massage onto face and neck before moisturizer. The oil comes in a hard bottle with a dropper. The cap can be unscrewed to take out the dropper and simply squeeze the black tip to drop the oil into your hands.

Texture and Smell:

Consistency is the same as normal coconut oil or other cooking oil. It is free flowing and not very thick. It has a strong smell which I will not call very pleasant or floral, but it fades away after half an hour or so.

My Experience with The Body Shop Vitamin E Facial Oil:

I use this oil in my night-time regime only.  I wash the face, massage 3 to 4 drops of oil, and then apply moisturizer over it. Initially, I did not notice much difference. Usually, the next morning, there would be a glow on my face because of the oil, that was it.  However, as days passed by, I noticed visible improvement in my skin texture. My pores became small, sun tan got removed, acne marks faded super fast, fine lines reduced and I got very healthy skin with no dryness at all. I promise, I am telling the truth here and only truth. :haanji: :haanji:

In the initial few days when I went to sleep after applying the oil, I had nightmares of me waking up with bumps all over the face; however, nothing of that sort happened. I even suspect there is a rosy glow to my face nowadays :mirror: I am loving it!

Pros of The Body Shop Vitamin E Facial Oil:

• Keeps the skin well moisturized throughout the day.
• Easily absorbs into the skin, only a very light greasiness remains which can be easily blotted away.
• With continuous usage, skin becomes smooth and healthy.
• Helps in fading scars or acne marks.
• Non-comedogenic, did not break me out even after applying moisturizer on top of the oil.
• Can be used before applying your usual moisturizer to get added benefits.
• For oily skin, there is no need for another moisturizer after applying this oil.
• Helps in removing the sun tan.
• Pores and fine lines get reduced, although do not get completely diminished.
• Lasts for a long time since only 3 to 4 drops are required to cover the entire face and neck.
• The dropper is handy for taking out the oil and there is no spillage or wastage.
• Safe to use daily, I have been using it daily for the past 1.5 months and I am very happy with the results.

Cons of The Body Shop Vitamin E Facial Oil:

• The price is on the higher side.
• It will make the face oily if applied in a larger quantity, it is better suited for night-time healing.
• I have combination skin and it did not break me out, but oily-skinned ladies should check first if this will create pimples before starting to apply on a daily basis.

Will I Range The Body Shop Vitamin E Facial Oil?

Yes, it will take a long time to finish up this bottle though.

My Experience with The Body Shop Floral Acai Body Butter Duo:

I absolutely love the scent of this body butter; it is a floral berry scent, very subtle, delicate and soothing, not at all overpowering. This was the only reason I liked this duo more than the others. The darker half that is for the drier area is less fragrant and moisturizes my knees and elbows very well. The lighter side has a strong fragrance which spreads evenly on applying. I use both the sides before bedtime so that it can soak into the skin and give a luxurious and soft feeling in the morning. It gives a buttery feeling, but gets absorbed very quickly without leaving any oily traces. It doesn’t feel sticky also. I think it’s a perfect combination to take care of dry skin in winters.

What I Like about The Body Shop Floral Acai Body Butter Duo:

• It an amazing way to keep your skin feel fresh and soft, taking extra care of the drier areas. No need to have a bunch of creams and lotions.
• The light moisturizer works really well, spreads nicely without any sticky oily feeling, leaving your arms and legs soft to touch and floral to smell.
• The thick buttery cream serves perfectly in keeping knees, elbows and feet smooth and supple. No extra rubbing required, gets soaked in the skin very easily.
• The fragrance is fruity, floral and delicate, not at all overly perfumed.

What I Did Not Like about The Body Shop Floral Acai Body Butter Duo:

• I found the quantity very less.
• Not suitable for oily-skinned beauties and a big “no” for summer.
