My Experience with Tarte EmphasEYES Inner Rim Eye Pencil:

We desi girls have an obsession with kohl-rimmed eyes and I am sure you all will agree with me. I am no different. I never will step out of the house unless I have kohl on my eyes. It is the most-used product in my makeup kit and hence I have very high standards to what product I use for it. This product did not meet the mark for me.

Packaging:  Comes in a very sleek, very thin twist up pencil. The pencil and the application part is almost too thin and pointy and needle like that I get scared every time I use it.  I feel like a tiny misstep and it could literally poke my eyes out. I feel it’s very dangerous to use.  I like the fact that it is a twist-up pencil hence no hassle of sharpening.

Texture:  This eye pencil is of a very dry nature. It is not creamy and smooth. On many occasions, the tip has just broken off as I have tried to use it as it was so dry. I feel like I have to warm up the product on the back of my hands before I apply.

Considering this is a inner rim pencil, you would expect it to apply on the inner rim. But I had a very difficult time doing so. I had to go over my inner rim at least 4-5 times for it to show up evenly and with the intensity that I wanted to. This process also irritated my eye area as a result.

It does work nicely as an eyeliner and I can get a super thin line with it. It is dry hence it sets quickly and will not budge and is completely waterproof, hence you will have a bit of tug and it is not easy to smoke out.

Shade:  I got the shade “Black,” which is my preference for kohl. It is a jet black shade provided you get it applied.

Staying Power:  The hand swatch took 2 days to completely fade off. It stayed through numerous hand washing that’s how long lasting it was. This quality unfortunately does not translate on the eye. In the inner rim, it faded in 5-6 hours (I do have watery eyes which could be the reason) and as an eyeliner, it stayed put for 7-8 hours which is not bad.

For now, my absolute favorite eyeliner is Charlotte Tilbury Rock n Kohl which I have reviewed here.

Overall, I do not like this product and feel like it was not worth the money even though it is not that super expensive. I will not recommend this at all.

• The pencil is very thin, very pointy and feels dangerous to take anywhere near my eyes.
• Very dry and crumbly nature.
• Tip has broken off many times.
• Not creamy and smooth.
• Does not apply smoothly on the waterline
