Ingredients

What it is formulated to do:  This highly-effective four-in-one cleanser improves skin’s radiance while purifying, minimizing the look of enlarged pores, and deeply hydrating. It soothes the skin while clarifying with fresh enzymes, clays, and essential oils. Microspherical beads polish the skin and reduce the appearance of blackheads—without stripping the skin of essential moisture. Grapefruit’s fresh, vibrant scent helps boost energy and confidence, and the luxurious formula leaves skin balanced, hydrated, and glowing.  The formulation is powered by 11 high-performance ingredients, including apricot seed powder, which gently and effectively exfoliates; pomegranate enzymes, which dissolve surface debris while reducing the look of pores; and willow bark, a natural form of salicylic acid.  Regenerating Cleanser is free of soaps, alcohols, and detergents. This product is an Allure Best of Beauty award winner.  It is formulated without parabens, sulfates, phthalates.

My Experience with Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser:

Packaging:  This product comes in a heavy plastic bottle with gold accents. It looks so luxurious siting on my vanity. I like the pump mechanism as it makes the product hygienic and keeps the ingredients stable by limiting contact with air.

Texture/Usage:  The texture of this cleanser is quite reminiscent of “apricot scrubs” that I have used in the past. This product also contains apricot seed powder (which are finely milled compared to every other apricot scrub I have used in the past) in a creamy base. I find the scrubbing action from this product to be very gentle yet still effective. I find that I need about 3-4 pumps to get enough product out for my face. I rub this product in circular motion on my damp face and I can feel the apricot powder scrubbing and exfoliating my skin.

After giving my skin sufficient scrubbing, I add a bit of water at which point it turns into a milky emulsion. It does not create too much lather hence it does not strip my dry skin of its oil and moisture. After rinsing, my skin does not feel dry or stretchy; instead it feels silky smooth like a baby’s bottom. Post washing, my skin feels clean but not squeaky clean like most other foaming cleansers. Instead, my skin feels soft and supple and I don’t find the need to grab my moisturizer post washing.
Cleanser packaging

For those with oily skin, you may find it does not clean your skin sufficiently and you may need to follow up with a foaming cleanser to get rid of excess oil and grime for which this product by itself might not be efficient enough to clean. It is advised to use this product everyday twice a day, but I personally think that would be too much abrasion for your skin, especially if like me, you also use chemical exfoliation on a regular basis. At most, I use it 1-2 times a week.

As far as the claims of it improving skin’s texture is concerned, I find it true to some extent. It does smooth out the texture of my skin by exfoliating away dry patches hence when used just before applying makeup, I find that my foundation just sits and looks better on my skin. I do notice it gives my face a glow post washing. My skin looks renewed and my pores do appear smaller. I did not see it having any significant difference in scrubbing away blackheads.

Fragrance:  It has a mild floral-fruity scent. It is not overpowering and I find it to be very invigorating and refreshing.
Cleanser swatch

Overall, I find this product to be a great morning cleanser. It is refreshing, provides mild exfoliation and smoothes out my skin while not leaving it dry. But for those who are used to using apricot seed scrubs, you may not find it any different from those in terms of functionality and results (except for the fact that the scrubbing beads in this product are very fine and less abrasive than other drugstore apricot scrubs) hence it makes it difficult for me to justify the high price for this product. Also, for those with very sensitive skin, you might find this too rough for your skin.

Pros of Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser:

  • Very finely milled apricot seed powder.
  • Gentle on skin.
  • Provides exfoliation.
  • Leaves skin feeling soft and supple.
  • Gets rid of dry patches.
  • Does not strip my skin off moisture.
  • Does not leave my skin dry.
  • Mild fruity floral scent.

Cons of Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser:

  • As per the brand’s instructions, I do not agree that this product should be used twice everyday. I use it 1-2 times a week to prevent over exfoliating my skin.
  • Sensitive skin might find it too abrasive.
