How To Use:
Apply to damp skin in a circular motion, then rinse thoroughly for refreshingly smooth skin. For best results, use two to three times a week.
Ingredients:
Glycerin (Humectant), Sucrose (Humectant), Propylene Glycol (Humectant), Isopropyl Palmitate (Emollient), Parfum/Fragrance (Fragrance Ingredient), Polyacrylamide (Film Former), Bertholletia Excelsa Seed Oil (Emollient), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Aqua/Water (Solvent), C13-14 Isoparaffin (Solvent), Vaccinium Macrocarpon Seed Oil/Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Seed Oil (Skin Conditioning Agent), Laureth-7 (Emulsifying Agent), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Tocopherol (Antioxidant), CI 17200/Red 33 Lake (Colorant), CI 15850/Red 7 (Colorant).
Some ingredients of note include cranberry seed oil and brazil nut seed oil. The sugar granules are made from sucrose, which is an excellent humectant and quite commonly used in bath products. It also has glycerine, which has great moisturizing properties. It does contain added fragrance. The bright red colour is achieved by added artificial colours – Red 33 Lake, which is an organic artificial colorant and Red 7, which is another organic high purity pigment. These colours are thought to be harmful to health as they may contain heavy metals and pesticides.
Shelf Life:
Two and a half years.

My Experience with The Body Shop Frosted Cranberry Sugar Scrub:

The sugar scrub comes in a plastic transparent tub with a matte black screw on cap. The packaging is quite sturdy, although I would expect better packaging for the price I’m paying. The amount of product is decent. The colour of the scrub is bright red. The texture feels like a homemade sugar scrub; it has tiny sugar granules dispersed in the gel medium. It does not contain any beads. The number of sugar granules is quite high as the scrub feels quite abrasive. The scent is quite strong and smells like fresh cranberries.

When I entered the store, I was immediately drawn to the wide variety of body scrubs. I was running out of my previous one, so I thought of purchasing one from The Body Shop as I had never tried their scrubs. I asked the sales rep to recommend a body scrub meant for dry skin. She recommended the Frosted Cranberry and Glazed Apple range, and I felt that both were quite expensive products. Then I opened the tester and took a whiff. The scent was heavenly. I love fruity smells and this one was so sweet and sour. It smelled like freshly mashed cranberries. She told me that since it is a sugar scrub and contains cranberry oil, it is great for dry skin. I reconsidered buying. Also, the amount that was in the tub seemed enough for two seasons.

At first, I tried the scrub on damp skin. Most of the sugar granules almost immediately dissolved and I was not left with much scrub. The amount of scrub to be used and the dampness of the skin decide how efficiently the scrub will work. If I want to exfoliate my skin really well, I will dampen my skin just a bit, and then apply the scrub. For gentler exfoliation, I dampen my skin a bit more. I massage this into my skin in circular motions till the sugar granules dissolve. It does not feel harsh as I don’t apply any external pressure and allow the scrub to do its work.

It leaves a sticky residue, which can be washed off. After washing skin with lukewarm water, my skin feels very smooth and moisturized. The glycerine and the cranberry seed oil help to soften the skin after exfoliation. My bathroom smells amazing after I use this scrub. As for the fragrance on my skin, it lingers for a while and then disappears. I don’t use it as often as recommended; I only use it once a week all over my body as it takes a really long time in the shower. Plus, the effects last for a while.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase The Body Shop Frosted Cranberry Sugar Scrub?
Although I love the fragrance and the way this scrub works, I would rather try some of the other scrubs that do not have added colorants. Or, I might purchase a body scrub from another brand. If you can ignore the artificial additives, you must try this scrub. Also give it a try if you love cranberries because I feel that the formulation is quite different from other The Body Shop scrubs.
