The Body Shop Moisture White Shiso Whitening Serum Review

Halo to all the charmers out there.  I write today after a break, or rather say I actually mail today after a break as I have been writing in bits and pieces for long, but couldn’t complete the reviews and mail them.  So, expect a whole lot of reviews coming under my name tag :)

Be it winter, summer, or monsoon, night or afternoon :p we Indian women do unconsciously look for the whitening part in product labels. Of course, we do not expect miracles or shades of lighter complexion, but all we want is a little brightness.  So, there I was in the Body Shop store and this cute little bottle drew me towards itself. Was the attraction worth?Find out:

Price:

Rs.2075 for 30 ml.

Product Description:

An easily absorbed gentle serum that leaves a moisturizing film on the skin’s surface, leaving the skin soft and hydrated. Suitable for all skin types.  Contains organic Aloe Vera which is renowned for its incredible soothing, hydrating and moisturizing properties – perfect for sensitive skin. It is grown without the use of pesticides and is of the highest quality; natural, pure and preservative free. Hand harvested, hand washed and hand filleted (all within 12 hours of harvesting) to ensure that its natural qualities are maintained all the way through production.

Ingredients:

Shiso extract – reduces early melanin-making signals even before the hyperpigmentation process and melanin production cycle starts – helping prevent uneven skin tone, brown spots and freckles. Vitamin C – provides anti-oxidant protection helping to reduce the production of melanin. Organic Aloe – renowned for its incredible soothing, hydrating and moisturizing properties

Whitening Serum

Directions For Use:

Dab a few drops of the serum around the face and gently stroke in an upward and outward motion. Finish off by gently patting your face with your fingers, avoiding the delicate eye area.

My Experience with The Body Shop Moisture White Shiso Whitening Serum:

I think this is one product that was a spur of the moment buy. I still don’t know what I was thinking.  Such whitening products don’t attract me much; maybe the Body Shop SR did a good job.

Anyway, since I had burnt a hole in my pocket, I had to give it a try.  I applied it religiously every night on cleansed face and neck. The smell is fine, but the serum is greasy of course. Strangely, I asked the SR if this is for combination skin and she said it was. I think the cream would be a better option.

Serum

Face Serum

So after say 2-3 weeks, I don’t think it does some great job at whitening. Skin appears slightly smoother but only for a while. There is no drastic change in skin appearance.

Pros of The Body Shop Moisture White Shiso Whitening Serum:

  • Product lasts long.
  • Moisturizing enough to be worn at night.
  • Nice, smooth pump dispenser.
  • Face is smooth after wash.

Cons of The Body Shop Moisture White Shiso Whitening Serum:

  • Expensive.
  • Doesn’t do what it claims.
  • Not for humid climates and combination skin.
  • Smells a little like glue of some sort.

Final Verdict:

Am I rebuying? Naah!  Not recommended at all to any skin type!

Welcome back to IMBB Maria, read a few other product reviews of the TBS Whitening range and none of them were impressive. If not for these reviews, I would have definitely wasted money on these products :|

I had bought this in combo offer with sisho moisture essence and even I did nt see much result in few weeks. But due to its price I had to finish both bottles. I religiously applied the moisture essence after this serum and it took around 6 months to see the difference. I am in my 30s and my slight pigmentation spots on cheeks are gone. Now I dont regret for the price which I paid. Its suggested to use this product along with moisture essence.

Me too, used with disappointment. I have combination skin, and the SA assured it for my skin type. Its just staying in my cupboard !!! Waste of money :-(
