The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil Hand Cream Review

Hello friends…

One of my dreams aka resolutions this year is to take good care of my hands and skin as I have now stepped into my late 20s. 😛 I came across few good and average brands for hand & body care in 2014. I will share my experiences with them with you all, one by one.

I did a teeny haul from The Body Shop again, particularly for their Wild Argan Oil range. I have been using all these products a lot these days and I quite like them, except their hand creams; which I will discuss today. So, let’s dig inside this The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil Hand Cream.

Product Description:

Indulge your hands with this rich Wild Argan Oil Hand Cream. This non-greasy formula helps soften and protect hands and cuticles.

Leaves hands feeling soft and smooth.
Non-greasy formula.
Instantly absorbing.
Enriched with community fair trade Wild Argan oil.

$6 for 1 fl Oz (30 ml). It is available only this travel-sized pack, as of now.

This semi-luscious cream comes in a not-so-special tin tube packaging with black cap which pretty much reminds me of my previous Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Intensive Hand Cream, though the cream differs in appearance and results. It has a strong smell which is pretty similar to that Vicco Turmeric Skin Cream and I am not fan of any of these smells!:P Overall, the packaging is quite hygienic and travel friendly.

My Experience with The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil Hand Cream:

The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil Hand Cream Review

Well, I like The Body Shop products despite their bothersome ingredients (like: SLS, alcohol, parfume etc) and decent results. Somehow, maybe because they support community fair trade and even the products often work well on my skin. And, as I said earlier, anything with Argan Oil tempts me enough to get it with no second thoughts. I am happy with this Argan Oil range, but this hand cream, somehow, disappointed me unlike other products.

It is too light textured to treat or even maintain softness of my skin. The cream looks light peach gel-creamy in consistency and almost disappears within a few seconds of massage. I need quite generous amount to feel it on my skin and maintain health and lustre. I think this hand cream will be a blessing for scorching summers, but is a definite no-no for these chilly weather when my skin behaves more like normal dry despite being oily in nature.

I feel like applying it after every two to three hours as it fails to provide any hydration or suppleness to my skin which is anyway not very dry and chapped, thankfully. I reckon it would be of no use to very dry and chapped skin in winters as it is not suitable for my normal skin.

Comparing it to Josie Maran Hand Cream (which also contains Argan Oil), I feel this one fails to deliver any goodness of Argan Oil to the skin. On the contrary, it has such a strong smell and a texture that is too light to show up even on normal skin. I am actually keeping it aside for scorching, sweating summers as it will best suit my oily skin then and I am solely relying on my Josie Maran Hand Cream for now. As of now, I feel that even if I finish up this whole tube within a week, my hands will still not get a drop of youth and hydration. 😛

• Strong smell like Vicco Turmeric Cream is not everyone’s cup of tea.
• Too light and ineffective on any skin type, especially in winters.
• Serious nay for dry and chapped skin.
• Does not provide decent hydration, even for an hour!

IMBB Rating:

2.5/5

Verdict:

Before I declare it a dud, I would like to try it out in summers as well. Looking at its texture and fast absorbing formula, I am quite hopeful that it will not disappoint me in summers when I really need something light and non-greasy like this cream.

I would recommend trying it in summers, it might work best then. Personally, I am in two minds about getting it again. If it works well and as expected in summers, then probably yes; else it is a no for me forever!
