The Face Shop Raspberry Roots Sleeping Mask Review

By Monika Madhwal

Hey lovely ladies!

I am so excited today. Today is my birthday! It becomes all the more special because this time I have IMBB with me; you know I believe being a part of IMBB is like a birthday present for me. I also happen to share my birthday with my father-in-law! So yes, it’s a double celebration! Okay, enough of family gossip! 😛

Today’s review is about The Face Shop’s Raspberry Roots Sleeping Mask. Honestly speaking, I had never heard about the brand. My sister brought this for me from Sephora (Delhi) when she came on vacation. She said that The Face Shop has a really good skincare line but I thought it was some cheap Chinese imitation of The Body Shop ;). I have really sensitive skin, so I don’t like experimenting much and stick to the trusted brands. But seeing something new, my research bug got jaagrit; Google always helps, you see!

I got to know that The Face Shop is a highly acclaimed South Korean natural skincare and cosmetics brand! I also got to know that it is a subsidiary of LG Corporation, which was a little weird for me as when I hear LG, all I can think of is ovens and washing machines 😛

About The Face Shop Raspberry Roots Sleeping Mask:

An advanced lifting line formulated with wild Himalayan Raspberry Roots that instantly lifts, tightens pores, and re-contours the skin that lacks resilience. A sleeping mask that nourishes, hydrates and relaxes skin through the night. Only a few easy steps “Apply, sleep and wash”, and you can instantly tighten pores and re-contour the skin that lack of resilience. In gel texture form and yet it is not greasy. A must-have for busy cosmopolitans.

My experience with The Face Shop Raspberry Roots Sleeping Mask:

To begin with, I had not heard much about sleeping masks before I got this (Lakme introduced the Skin Gloss range that also has an overnight mask much later). So I was a little confused. This mask comes in a cute pump bottle. What I like about the packaging is that the pump has an outer lid. I mean pumps are really good for me only if they have an outer cover.

The mask is a babypink-colored thick gel. It has a strong fruity fragrance that I don’t like. I take a full pump and slather it on my face (I don’t use it with any other product). Don’t hit the bed immediately as it is bit sticky when applied (or maybe I use too much!). It gives a cooling sensation and takes a minute to get fully absorbed. The skin is really smooth afterward. I thought this had silicones, but couldn’t find any in the ingredient list. Correct me if I am wrong.

In the morning, I just wash my face with water, when I have this applied. And I can’t really notice a visible difference though my skin does feel smoother, I mean less bumpier! One thing I noticed with this particular mask is that when I do regular exfoliation, it goes on smoothly over the skin. But when I skip my weekly scrubbing/exfoliation, I feel applying this becomes really messy. How do I describe this? You know, when you write something with a pencil and then erase it, that rubbery stuff that you see. . .you get that on your skin (sorry for such a  stupid reference).

I used it for full 2 months three times a week. About the toning and recontouring claims, it did nothing for me. But then sagging skin is not my problem right now. What I did notice was tightened pores. This is not a miracle product. I think using any gel cream will give you the same benefits. The Raspberry range is an award-winning range of this brand (they recently had a 1-million-pieces-sold celebration), and with all the good things listed in the ingredient list I really wanted this to work. But it did nothing extraordinary for my face. My sister uses this during long flights (she has oily skin) and swears by this.

My skin is really dry in Winters, and it is not enough moisturising for me now, so I have stopped using it at night. I have read people using it with their night creams and emulsions. I can’t do that as I like keeping my night skincare routines simple, and right now I am really happy with my night cream.

Pros of The Face Shop Raspberry Roots Sleeping Mask:

  • Light and hydrating gel.
  •  Pore-tightening.
  •  Mostly, natural ingredients.
  • 100 ml lasts really long.
  • Comes in a travel-friendly pump.

Cons of The Face Shop Raspberry Roots Sleeping Mask:

  • Tall claims not fulfilled.
  •  Has parabens.
  • Availability might be an issue.
  • Could be messy/sticky.

  1. OMGG! i totally want to give it a try. we do get faceshop products here in sephora. Hopefully they’d have a fresh stock for this sadly mostly things we are getting here are old manufactured. Anyway, welcome to imbb and thanks for this fab review. have a verrryy happy birthday 🙂

    1. Thank you so much Rati! I know you have already heard it a million times, but I’ll say it again, you and IMBB are an inspiration, a push that so many women need at some point in their life. 🙂
And about Faceshop in Sephora, my sister said the same thing. Pieces they keep are old manufactured.

  2. Happy birthday Monika. 🙂
And I laughed so hard when you said that Face shop was some cheap Chinese imitation of The Body Shop. Lol it does sound like one. 😉
