Take Your Own Sweet Time!

A tattoo is something that will be permanently inked on your body. So, you do want to hurry and ink anything that you might regret in the future. We often get tempted to get a tattoo or two just because people around us are getting it. But, think about your tattoo over and over again to be sure. Take a break of few months and then ask yourself the same question and if the answer is yes, then get geared up to get one masterpiece of your own.

Always Be Original!

Often, we have noticed that most of the people have a habit to browse the internet, find a tattoo design, take it to the artist and get it done. Why do people want to copy someone else’s creation? Tattoo artists have the ability to create a customised tattoo for you, then why copy! Copying a tattoo is very useless and nothing different from others. You might see many such people having the same tattoo as yours. So, never copy a tattoo! Share your thoughts with the artist and they will create something that will be 100% original.

Be Sure With The Design!

Even if you are very adamant and want to copy a design, do keep in mind that you shouldn’t regret it in the coming future. And at times, the tattoo artists may convince you to make certain design, but it should be your own decision. Getting a mere design like hearts, butterflies or stars for women and some big dragon or abstract designs for men may create a possibility that you might get bored of it in the future. Hence, always go for something that is close to your heart so that you never regret it.

Have Heart to Pay for The Art!

Often, most of the people consult tattoo artists, but take a step back when the cost comes into picture. And, they take the design to some artist who will create it at a cheaper cost. But, do not compromise with your skin. Remember, that you are playing with your skin, and the pigments will be injected into the body and if you choose a cheaper artist, there might be skin issues coming up in the future. It would be wise to pay a little more and have surety that you’re not affecting your skin.

Divert Your Mind While Getting Inked!

It would be very wise to divert your mind when the needles are piercing your body. Who isn’t afraid of those big syringes and needles? And, looking at them piercing your skin might cause a feeling of fright within you. Take a friend or a family member with you with whom you and chit-chat while getting the tattoo done. Or have a conversation with the artist or watch TV. Looking at the TV or talking to someone will cause less pain and will help the artist complete the tattoo faster.

Choose The Best Tattoo Artist!

Don’t just go to an artist because he is your friend or your friend has got a tattoo done from him/her. Research about some best artists available in the town, have a look at their work, conduct 1-2 meetings with them and discuss about your design, concept, idea and budget and then finally pick the one whose cost and work has impressed you.

Speak Up if You Feel Nauseous!

There is always fright in our mind when we get a tattoo done. We have always heard stories of blood or people fainting, and the anxiety is at its peak when it’s our first tattoo. And most the people do get a nauseous feeling and I am not scaring you, but a lot of people faint too. So, at that very point when you get such a feeling, speak up and tell your artist. He/she might give you some chocolates and food to eat and also might put a fan in front of you. Also, keep in mind to eat a good, healthy and not heavy lunch before going to the tattoo parlour.

Keep Hygiene Your Priority!

Check the tattoo parlour for the level of cleanliness, the instruments used, the pigments used etc. In case you feel that they do not maintain proper hygiene, strike them off your list. Often, they need to shave the part before starting the tattoo, ensure that they use a new razor. Also insist them to open a new needle in front of you so that you can stay away from skin diseases.

Do Not Play With Colours!

Often people want to get a coloured tattoo, but I learnt a new concept from my artist. When I insisted him to use colours, he told me to avoid coloured pigments. As when you choose a colour it looks fresh and exactly the way you want. But, when it finally gets inked in your skin, it may change its colour over a period of time. And, there is a highest possibility that you might not like that colour in your tattoo after some time. The colour change totally depends on your skin tone. Hence, try getting a tattoo done in black only.

Adopt Proper After-care Methods!

The artist might definitely instruct you on certain things like how to maintain the tattoo, what to apply on it in the initial days till it peels off, what to avoid in your diet and the medications to take during the first 5 days. They usually tell to avoid fermented and sour food. Often the tattoo should not come into contact with water for a few days and avoid going out too much in heat. In the initial days, although you shouldn’t use water, make a note to add 3-4 savlon liquid drops with full tub of water and clean your tattoo with it. This prevents infection.

Get Touch-Ups Done!

After many months or years, tattoo’s colour fades and doesn’t look as fresh as new. Timely touch-ups may help your tattoo look happening and as bright as it looked when you inked it first.
