Tips and Toes Foundation Review

Tips and Toes Foundation

Hello all,

Last week I exhausted my good old Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation and I wanted to try something I had never used. I wanted to try something under Rs 200 and this was the only foundation available besides the Lakme ones. I decided to order the shade Dreamy Dawn because the swatch on the website looked much like the colour of foundation I used. Read on to find out what I thought of Tips and Toes Foundation.

Price: Rs 150 for 30ml.

Product Description: This oil free make-up blends smoothly into your skin, giving it a flawless finish. It is water resistant and has SPF(Sun Protection Factor) and contains moisturizer that revitalizes your skin, making it soft and supple.

Product Claims:

• Oil-free.
• Water resistant.
• Sun Protection.
• Sun Proof.

Ingredients: Water, Cetearyl Ethyl Hexanoate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Dimethicone and Tocopheryl Acetate.

My Experience with Tips and Toes Foundation:

The product comes in a transparent glass bottle with a silver screw-on cap. Once you open the cap and sniff along the neck of the bottle, you will become aware of a very delicate but at the same time intense fragrance, sweet but not cloying, flowery but extremely subtle. People may either hate it or love it. I, frankly, don’t know if I like it or hate it.

I am used to the slightly thick-ish consistency of Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse, so I found the consistency of this particular product to be runny. But as far as I can remember it has the same consistency as that of Lakme foundation (the one that sells at around a hundred bucks). When I applied it on to my face, I found it to be a bit orangey. I hate that in foundations, maybe just this particular shade is orangey, I cannot be sure about the other shades because I bought it online.

It blends in pretty easily on the skin to give a matte finish. A coin sized amount would be more than enough to cover the entire face and the neck as well. The coverage is sheer and is absolutely not at all buildable to anything more solid than that. The smell will continue to linger for quite some time. The foundation stays on for about four hours before it starts to disintegrate.

Several claims have been made by the product. Like, for instance it is water-resistance. That, ladies, is a plain, fat lie. You cannot and do not expect a foundation below Rs200 to be water resistant. I just wish the company would remove this misleading claim from the bottle. Also, it has been said that it contains sun-protection but the SPF is not mentioned, the number, that is. All things taken, an okay product that the beginners could use for practice or maybe, if you have a ten year old who is a bit too active on the stage, you could get her this. But, if you are a serious make-up wearer, you’d want to skip this.

Pros of Tips and Toes Foundation:

• Cheap.
• Gives a matte finish.
• Not at all greasy.

Cons of Tips and Toes Foundation:

• The smell lingers, which may be bothersome to a few.
• Not at all water resistant.
• The SPF is not mentioned.
• It has no moisturizing properties as the product description says.
• Does not make the skin soft and supple, according to the claims.
• This particular shade is orangey.

IMBB Rating: 2.5/5

Will I Repurchase Tips and Toes Foundation:

No, this shade is a bit too orangey for me. I think I’ll spend a couple of hundreds more and get my trusted Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation.

  1. The good thing about this is that it is totally non comedogenic , seeing the ingredient list , and it does have sunscreen – ethylhexyl methoxicinnamate. 🙂
