My Experience with Tom Ford Concealing Pen

I have used Tom Ford Illuminating Pen before, which I was not happy with to say the least. I saw the concealing pen this time around and I totally wanted to give it a go. Especially with the lovely sponge type applicator, I got a wee too excited. 😛

The concealing pen comes in 6 different shades. I picked up the shade Medium Deep 04, which is pretty much a close shade to my exact skin tone. I could have picked up a shade lighter too but I have many concealers in lighter shades. For everyday natural look, I preferred to go with the exact match of my skintone.

It comes in a bronze gold fat pen kind of packaging. You have to twist the bottom to get the product out. There is a lovely sponge dome applicator at the top. I find it extremely good. The sponge applicator is very soft especially for the delicate under eye area. Also, I feel the sponge helps in applying the product evenly and there are less chances of going overboard with the product. You can clean the applicator with a MAC Brush Cleanser after every few uses to keep the brush hygienic.

It has a light coverage so it looks verrryy natural. It almost looks nothing on the skin. You can also build it up to a medium coverage but don’t expect it to be a duper heavy duty full coverage concealer. It’s more like everyday concealer that would take care of adding freshness to your under eye area with let’s say 60% concealing. If you have very dark under eye circles to conceal, go with the peach corrector first and then use this concealer on top. It works brilliant that ways.

The texture is creamy and it blends in easily. But I have slightly dry under eye area so I HAVE to have an under eye cream before I use this or else it starts looking dry. But on a moisturised skin it goes on seamlessly.  I have used it with a brush, finger tips and beauty blender. I find that it works best when patted to nothing with finger tips but goes well when used with a beauty blender as well. Brush not so much…

What I like about this concealer the most is that it looks verryy natural on the skin. You can barely figure out if you are wearing any concealer underneath your eyes at all. You can use to to cover soft spots or pigmentation on your skin as well and it works brilliantly. I always set my concealers with powder. I have never faced any problems with it settling in fine lines or fading.

I love the pen packaging. It’s easier to carry around with you. Especially if you work in office environment and you have a party to attend in the evening, it’s a great handy tool to freshen up the look anytime.

I personally love such lightweight concealers. They are great for everyday use and absolutely fabulous for touchups.

Overal, I looove this concealing pen. I have been using it every day with just this and powder foundation and I love how it almost looks nothing on my skin.

Everything said, I wouldn’t list it as must try products from Tom Ford Makeup line if you are just starting out with TF. This is a very good product but it also reminds me of MAC Select Moisture Cover Concealer that is my absolute favourite and provides better coverage than this one.

Tom Ford has a brilliant makeup line – lipsticks, matte lipsticks, traceless foundation, liquid eyeliner, brow pen..I could go on. This one you could skip. If you are veryyy intrigued, you wouldn’t be left disappointed too. 🙂

  1. I know how cute it is to use a sponge applicator concealer… I have one called Maybelline age rewind.. it glides very smoothly under the eyes and I like it because that area is so sensitive and delicate 🙂 looks a light one which wouldn’t give that “I have applied a concealer” look 🙂 very detailed review .. 🙂

  2. It is such a cutie pen, I love the way it looks. I looove the way you review and cover each and every aspect, plus don’t forget to add a personal touch. 😀 Missed your pic in this one.
