Urban Decay ‘Naked Skin’ Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder Review

Urban Decay ‘Naked Skin’ Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder

Hello my beautiful friends,

Hope you all are doing fine! Today, I am here to share another gift from IMBB which is very close to my heart.  I don’t have enough words to share my excitement towards IMBB for this pampering and identity.  Hope this bliss and happiness continues till eternity. Anyway, let’s start with the review before we all get overwhelmed with emotions 😛 I had been looking for a perfect loose finishing powder to use with or without makeup on my face and I feel happy to say that this particular finishing powder certainly works great over foundation on my oily skin, though it failed to impress me when I used it on bare skin.  Please read on further to know more about Urban Decay’s Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder.

Product Details:

A loose powder with a luminous, demi-matte Naked finish.  Blur flaws, set makeup, and cut shine with this weightless formula that feels amazingly silky on the skin. Designed to be virtually invisible, Urban Decay’s high-tech, light-reflecting formula fools the eye with optical blurring, seemingly airbrushing away imperfections and creating a soft-focus effect that looks professionally retouched. This creamy, buildable, jet-milled formula applies beautifully, never looks chalky or cakey, and won’t settle into fine lines.

Packaging:

This finely milled loose powder comes in a delicate yet sturdy glass jar packaging with metallic cap. It does not have any significant fragrance which is a plus point for oily/sensitive skin types.  I just feel extra cautious while sieving out the powder and try not to sprinkle it all over my dressing top and table. It came in an ordinary paper safety cover to seal those perforations and I saved the seal for future use. It might be travel friendly if you know how to deal with loose powder packaging 😛

Urban Decay Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder

This loose powder is available in five universal shades – Naked Light, Naked Medium Light, Naked Medium, Naked Medium Dark and Naked Dark respectively.  Considering my pale skin, I opted for Naked Medium Light, which seems my best match.

My Experience with Urban Decay ‘Naked Skin’ Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder:

I was keen to try it out ever since I read somewhere that it works like heaven with UD good karma brush and I am pretty much satisfied with my purchase.  I am blessed with super oily and weird skin type which often shows signs of dehydration, lack of sleep, lack of happiness and what not 😛 Still, I try my best to go bare as much as possible though I also agree that we should not regret using minimal makeup which enhances our beauty and in turn gives us a boost of confidence, isn’t it? Hence, I decided to ditch foundations for a while and started over with face powders once again to combat excess sweating and oiliness. To my surprise, I found that this particular Urban Decay powder instantly clears away dullness and oil off my face and blurs away open pores effectively, though it is a temporary effect (say 4-5 hours in the current summers) and when used over bare skin.  I know it’s more than enough considering the hot weather outside, but when you realize that it’s almost thrice of the price of drugstore loose powders, which give almost similar results to that of Urban Decay, then you certainly feel disappointed, don’t you?

However, it does have unique good points, especially when used over foundation; it certainly enhances staying power and overall finish of my makeup like a charm and I get oil-free skin for a good 6+ hours even in hot and dry summers around.  Moreover, it effortlessly blends into my skin with any powder puff or brush.  I often use my Sephora mineral powder brush and Urban Decay good karma optical blurring brush for blending and it works like a charm on my face for many hours.  I do believe it will certainly give me good results in winters.

Another great feature of this powder is that it never broke me out.  It does not aggravate my acne-prone skin.  I wish it stayed on longer to be my HG face powder.  It never looks cakey even if I use it heavily for it has minimal coverage.  It enhances my skin tone like any translucent finishing powder. I also noticed that it never emphasized the under eye fine lines like other powders.

It can be HG face powder for problem-free skin, but it might be tricky on blemished skin, especially if you are looking for coverage, it may not be an ideal choice for you. Personally, I would like to get it for winters when my skin tends to get dry as it gently sweeps oil and dullness off the face and I can see it does not give a cakey effect.

Urban Decay Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder

Let’s sum up the pros and cons:

Pros of Urban Decay ‘Naked Skin’ Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder:

  • A lightweight loose finishing powder that claims to optically blur imperfections, which is true up to some extent.
  • It is formulated without oil, parabens, sulfates and phthalates.
  • It feels like silky feather on my skin.
  • Effortlessly melts on my moisturized skin.
  • Does not irritate my acne-prone skin.
  • Does not settle into fine lines and wrinkles.
  • I get a youthful glow with this powder.
  • It works like a charm over foundation as it does not have any coverage on its own.
  • Enhances my makeup when used over foundation and increases the longevity and finish of my makeup for up to 6 hours.
  • Instantly clears away dullness, oil like magic.
  • Ideal for any skin tone/skin type, preferably problem-free skin.
  • Gives even finish and blends in with minimal effort.
  • Can be used with any powder puff/sponge or brushes.

Cons of Urban Decay ‘Naked Skin’ Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder:

  • Does not conceal blemishes when used without other makeup.
  • Does not stay long on bare skin.
  • I found the packaging slightly messy with no filter or safety lid to control sieving in/out of powder other.
  • Seems quite expensive for the average result it shows on my oily and acne-prone skin.

Well, I feel it is great for gals who wear makeup regularly as it works great as a setting powder and enhances the overall finish and staying power of makeup.  Good choice for girls with problem-free skin irrespective of skin type.  Personally, I would love to use it over makeup instead of using on bare skin when winters arrive.  I would love to get it again for winters though I might skip it during summers (sticking to my decision to go bare as much as possible).

IMBB Rating: I would like to give it 4.4/5!
