Victoria’s Secret Brilliant Lip Shine – Charm

When I hear the words Victoria’s Secret Brilliant Lip Shine – Charm, I mostly used to think of either lingerie or amazing bath and body products that they have. I was not aware that they also sell a wide range of makeup products until I visited one of their stores in US. I was amazed with the collection and the awesome colors they sell. To add the cherry on top of the cake – They sell it at affordable prices, specially the lip glosses, eye shadows and eye pencils and don’t compromise on the quality of the product. I picked few of the makeup items from one of my trip to VS.

Price ~ $10 – $14 (1.5 ml)

Ingredients: Hydrogenated polydecene, polybutene, hydrogenated styrene/isoprene copolymer, calcium sodium borosilicate, calcium aluminum borosilicate, silica, tocopherol, ascorbylpalmitate, flavor (aroma), benzyl benzoate, tin oxide. May contain: Mica, iron oxides (CL 77491/77492/77499), Red 7 Lake (Cl 15850), Titanium dioxide (Cl 77891), Yellow 6 Lake (Cl 15895(, Red 6 (Cl 15850), Blue 1 Lake (Cl 42090), Carmine (Cl 75470), Yellow 5 (Cl 19140).

My Experience with Victoria’s Secret Brilliant Lip Shine – Charm

Packaging – This gloss comes in a nice pen type packaging with a button on the bottom. You basically need to click the button like a pen to get the gloss into the applicator brush. Initially it took me a good 8/10 clicks, but post that it only takes 2 clicks to get the gloss out for application. The body of the outer tube is of same color as the gloss which makes life easier while searching through my glosses.

Color – Charm is a glittery golden color by itself but have no gritty feel on lips. This kind of color is really difficult to find in the market. On its own, it imparts the exact color as on the tube, but since it is not overly pigmented in one or 2 swipes, it doesn’t make your lips completely golden when applied, but imparts a super shine onto your lips. You should be careful with the application though as multiple swipes can actually make the lips look golden and this might not be something most of us would like ;).
I prefer it on top of any of my matte lipsticks, when I want some shine and plump look on my lips. This color can really jazz up any of your dull lip color because of the brilliant shine. On its own, in 1-2 swipes, it imparts lot of shine which is good, when you are in a hurry and rushing for a marriage or party at night. I don’t think this color is wearable on its own for any day time look.

Texture – This lip gloss goes on smooth while application. It is very light weight and feels comfortable on lips .

Longevity – On its own, it gives 2-3 hours of wear time and as it wears off, it leaves golden shiny shimmers behind on the lips and after sometime you can see them around your mouth. This gloss, though doesn’t survive a full meal.

1) Difficult to remove as the shimmer sticks on to the lips (though the shiny stuff doesn’t feel gritty)
2) The shimmers start spreading near the mouth over time.
3) Ingredient list not mentioned on the tube
4) Doesn’t survive  a meal
5) Not available in India

Would you repurchase the product-Yes. I love to top it up on my lipsticks for special occasions.It is just that I need to be careful once its starts fading, as the shimmer starts moving around.
