VLCC Gold Scrub Review

When I was looking out for a nice affordable scrub, I saw the VLCC gold scrub & found it to be inexpensive & thought of giving it a try. Though I don’t usually fall for Gold & fairness claims, I just did a little research on Google to understand why Gold is used in skin care products & how did this trend start & this is what I found.

Throughout ancient times, gold has been recognized for its luxurious and beautifying properties for the skin: a daily part of Egyptian skin care and anti-aging. It has been said that Cleopatra slept in a gold mask almost every night. In ancient Rome, gold products were applied for treatment for a wide variety of skin problems. In ancient Chinese medicine, gold products were a key to youthfulness and smooth skin tone, the queen of the Chiang dynasty used a gold massager every day.

Ayurvedic records contain references to the use of gold and other minerals in treatments of various ailments. For instance, gold was used for cardiac problems, as it was said to promote blood circulation. In olden days, pregnant women were made to wear a gold chain around the abdomen, to influence the foetal’ heart and body fluids of the mother. Gold was even prescribed as an oral medication.

Research has revealed that gold not only has anti-bacterial properties, but actually helps to transport oxygen molecules directly into the skin, influencing cellular functions and providing a new energy level. This helps to revitalise and rejuvenate the skin.

I’m not sure if the gold used in the skin care products is authentic or pure! So I’ll go ahead & let you all know about the VLCC Gold Scrub.

My Experience: The VLCC gold scrub comes in a see through tube with a flip cap. The scrub is runny in texture; it has tiny yellow colored micro granules which according to VLCC are a mixture of Gold Leaf, Turmeric & Sandalwood. The fragrance of the scrub isn’t too overwhelming, I can’t describe the smell but to put it precise I would say it’s a combination of Men’s shave gel & perfume :stars: But I don’t have a problem with the fragrance because it doesn’t linger & fades soon. The scrub isn’t too abrasive but it’s very effective in removing dirt & dead skin. The only problem with the scrub is it’s too drying for my face. I tried this to scrub my hands but the hands don’t become dry!

A friend of mine who has oily skin tried this & she likes it! All told, this will not suit normal, dry skin because it strips away the moisture!

Pros of the VLCC Gold scrub

• The micro granules aren’t too abrasive.
• It does provide a deep pore cleansing action that gently exfoliates dead skin cells.
• Gives radiance to the skin after scrubbing.
• Doesn’t leave a soapy film & rinses off easily.
• The scrub comes in a see through tube, so you get to know when you would need another before it runs out.
• Fragrance is mild & not too over-powering.
• Affordable at Rs.135 INR for 75g

Cons of the VLCC Gold scrub

• Makes the face dry after scrubbing.
• VLCC hasn’t mentioned which skin type this would be suitable for.
• The flip cap fits loose & may result in spillage in the bag.
• Doesn’t remove superficial white and black-heads as per the claims.

Will I repurchase this? No!

Will I recommend this? If you have Oily skin, you might like this. But this will not suit dry & normal because it’s too drying.
