Wayne Goss Brush #17 Review

Hello gorgeous gals,

I am back with another Wayne Goss eye brush review. As I have mentioned while reviewing Brush #19, this brush too was part of the second eye collection that Wayne launched. Initially, it was available only as part of a set. Later, they were made available for sale as individual brushes. Let us dig deeper into this one…

Wayne Goss Brush #17 Review

Product Description:
Brush 17 – This is Wayne’s go-to for a smoky eye. It can pack on lots of color because it’s large enough to cover about half the lid, while blending seamlessly into a gradient effect. Also ideal for highlighting and contouring smaller planes of the face. Handcrafted in Japan. Cruelty free.
Price:
US $32

My Experience with Wayne Goss Brush #17:

I have shared a brief on Wayne Goss while reviewing brush #08. His beautifully crafted brushes are available exclusively online. The good thing is that since they ship to India as well, so it is easy to get your hands on these babies.

Wayne Goss Brush #17 all brushes

Reiterating the basic information on Wayne Goss brushes – these are handcrafted in Japan and are some of the softest brushes that you will come across. The brushes are well crafted, well balanced with sleek black handles. The point to note is that Wayne Goss brushes are smaller in length than more regular brushes – say MAC, Sigma, etc., which works great for people like me who can barely see where they are applying the eyeshadow and go pretty much inside the mirror to get a better look and don’t care for long handle of the brushes coming in the way. And just to clarify – yes, I do use a 5X mirror and I still can’t see placement!! *Rolls the eyes*

Coming back to the brush in hand… this brush can be used for powder as well as cream application. However, personally, I do not use such natural hair brushes for cream products.

Wayne Goss Brush #17 full brushes

Like the Brush #16, the first thing which strikes you when you first pick this up is the size of the brush head. I had heard that it is bigger than normal eyeshadow brushes, but I didn’t quite get how big till I actually held it. It’s ultra soft, dense, flat, paddle type brush which has little give.

The brush can be used for:
1. Application of under eye concealer.
2. Setting the underage concealer.
3. Contouring the nose.
4. Application of brow highlighter.
5. Last but not the least – application of eyeshadow.

Okay, so while the brush is a little bit of a multi tasker, it’s intended purpose is application of colour onto the eyelid. It does the job well and very quickly. Quickly because the brush head is so large, it actually cover half your lid in one go. So application is faster. However, this isn’t the brush you would reach for if you intend to do intricate detailed work with a number of shades.

Wayne Goss Brush #17 handles

This would come into use more for gals who use an all over colour on the lid on a daily basis or do a two-color look. This would be perfect for them. It can do a quick wash of colour or pack on the pigment – both with ease.

Wayne Goss Brush #17 bristles

The bristles are amazingly soft and you do not feel individual hair on the skin – its a soft smooth silky movement of the brush head on your sensitive eye area.

To sum this up for you:

Pros of Wayne Goss Brush #17:

  • Extremely soft and well crafted.
  • Light but well-balanced handle.
  • Short length of handle – allows you to go close to the mirror while using it.
  • Can multi-task – have mentioned details on top.
  • Perfect for creating a wash of colour or for packing on the pigment to the lid quickly.
  • Bristles are extremely soft.
  • Does not shed.
  • Being natural bristled, excellent with picking up the product.
  • Made in Japan.
  • Cruelty free.
  • Can be used for powder and cream both.

Cons of Wayne Goss Brush #17:

  • Might be difficult to work for gals with smaller eyes as it will cover the entire eye in one go.

IMBB Rating:
5/5
This is again a very well-crafted brush and works beautifully. Having said that, I will specify a couple of things:

1. Do I recommend it? Absolutely.
2. Is it a must have? No. This is an excellent brush but may not be a must have from he collection. It is a multi-tasker, so you will not regret buying it.
3. Who needs it? It will work for everyone who loves eye makeup. These are such luxurious feeling brushes and it is a joy to use them. However, this will work better for Gals who prefer a single or duo shade eye look on normal basis. This one is not for intricate/detailed eye work.
