Surabhi Surendra asks:

Hi Girls,

I am traveling to Mumbai next week and would like to buy some cotton Kurtas or suits for daily use. Can anyone suggest a good shop that sells good quality suits or kurtas at affordable prices? I am looking for cotton kurtas that do not lose color. Any shop near IIT Bombay or Malad would be of great help.

  1. Visit Infinity Mall at Malad..there you have plenty of shops for kurtis πŸ™‚ Natraj market is a great place. You’ll get salwar kameez, Kurtis anything at reasonable price πŸ™‚
Natraj Market Location: Near Malad Station (west), towards SV Road, Mumbai

    Enjoy Shopping ! <3

    1. hihihi.. I think we should have posted it on some other day.. not a single person has replied.. πŸ™ but jomo.. this just proves that you are my best friend..!!!! Love you..

  2. Welcome to Mumbai Surabhi

Malad has a market called Natraj Market, you get good clothes there, I hear. But no experience. Meanwhile Cotton Cottage is a chain of stores that sell good quality cotton kurtas in Mumbai. They have their stores at kala ghoda, dadar, and various malls across the city. Check out

I personally like cotton cottage kurtas, they are economical and last long. Although they are made often with natural dyes and are not always colorfast.

Fab India has many outlets in Mumbai too, if you like them. Fab kurtas are certainly costlier.

I stay in Mumbai and I love to shop, take people shopping. I would love to take you around stores at Dadar or Vile Parle provided you are OK with that and our timings match!

    1. Hey Varsha.. thanks a lot dearie for this offer and I would love to meet you. Can you please email me so that we can be in touch. I would be staying in Malad and would go to IIT- Bombay for 2 days..
Fab India is better but I dont like their kurtas anymore.. I prefer W over Fab India and FI clothes also lose color.. πŸ™ W is better though. Would visit W.

Please get in touch with me and we can have fun around.. πŸ˜€

  3. Hie Surabhi,
I stay near IIT Bombay. there are few shops in d area like Vaishali,Lajja n Sagar where dey sell reasonalble cotten kurtis.. these shops are in the IIT Market area.

  4. I’m very vague about how far will be colaba market for you, but you get good stuff. Otherwise there’s a shop on linking road (bandra) in KFC wala street called “dream fashions”..v nice collection…not branded but nice. And you get only tops & kurtas there πŸ™

    1. Hey Neha.. I remember checking out Dream Fashions.. once πŸ˜€ I remember buying a few stuff from there.. thankiesssss.. Will update you on my shopping.. πŸ˜€

  5. Surabhi Baby…..
I do not know Alpha 1 mall ke aaps pas iit hai ya nahi… this is the best mall ever.. I shop from there only… U will get everything there….

  6. there are a couple places actually.
for the best cotton kurtas I suggest you shop at any of the W stores, you will find it in Inorbit Mall in malad also. but I have noticed the collection in south bombay is somehow better than it is otherwise. also. the shoppers stop in inorbit also has a good collection. at w kutis range from 700 and upwards but they are worth the price. I wear only that brand when it comes to kurtis
    hope I helped πŸ™‚

    1. Yeah Neerja, I have plans of checking out W stores. I have few W kurtas and I really like them.. will check that out and if its in Inorbit mall, it would be an added advantage! Thank you sooo much sweetie.. πŸ˜€

  7. Hey Surbhi, You can go to heera panna market (Mahalaxmi) to shop for kurtis etc. In bandra linking road, u have to bargain and sometimes the quality is not upto the mark except few shops, but u can get western dresses at super cheap prices. In malad do see Infinity Mall, Inorbit and Hypercity (all the three are nearby). @ Dadar Phoenix Mall is also an awesome option.

    1. Yeah Neha.. Inorbit and Infinity toh I’ll surely check out. I wanted to know a particular shop that sells good kurtas.. I mean any shop that sells super quality kurtas or suits.. Bandra mein street shopping I agree.. quality is bad, bargaining is a problem but midis and dress.. awesome option!

  8. In that case u can shop from the market located in front of Andheri West Station. Sorry i forgot the name but it is just in front of station so easily accessible and also Alpha Shops (Andheri- Irla Maket) is a good option.

  9. Try Nikki stores in Hiranandani Powai – There is a punjabi aunty who sells some real good quality printed kurtis. You can also see Soma-Soma is located at Shop 93-94 on the ground floor of Powai Plaza, right near the main entrance. It specializes in fine block-printed textiles,….There is one more shop in powai just near to janta bakery(i do not remember the name) vaha pe you get some real expensive but classy stuff.
    I hope this helps!!

  10. i know of this store called Moda in Lokhandwala (near 4 bungalows, andheri). they have some nice kurtis (short and long) and some pretty skirts- short ones and the longer kinds. small shop but good stuff.

  11. Hi Surabhi,

If you have the time, try going to Gandhi Market (near Kings Circle / Dadar). There are loads of shops and street stalls that sell ethic wear. You need an afternoon there at least πŸ™‚ you can pick up beautiful suits and kurtis both for home wear or festive wear. In fact, I did loads of trousseau shopping there…. πŸ™‚

    have fun in mumbai!
