Winter Skin Care tips for Dry Skin

Winter Skin Care Tips for Dry Skin

With winter approaching, our skin needs extra taking care off and people with dry skin like me need to be extra loving and pampering to our skin. I have almost perfected this art of tending to my skin ๐Ÿ˜‰ and so I thought of sharing it with you guysโ€ฆ So here goesโ€ฆ

I strictly follow a regime of cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing, steaming and sun-screening ๐Ÿ˜‰ Not necessarily in the same order but yeah to most extent.

CLEANSING

Well yeah we all wash our faces now donโ€™t we? But do we do it right? Do we use the right products? One thing that must always be kept in mind is that we must always choose products that are suitable to our skin types. Of course, even when you go for a face wash that reads your skin type, you might not just like it or your skin might just reject it. So, yes it does take time for someone to find that โ€œOh so perfectโ€ face wash. It took me some time but I was lucky to find mine ๐Ÿ™‚
My skin is on the drier side, ok who am I kidding? My skin is the extreme of dryness and so I opt for cream face washes rather than gel ones that my sister who has oily skin opts for. ๐Ÿ™‚
The two face washes that I swear by are:

Everyuth Cream Face Wash (Peach)

Everyuth Face Wash
Everyuth Face Wash

Washing your face off make-up, dirt and grime every night before going to sleep is a must and does wonders to your skin in the long run. I follow this regularly.

One must also keep in mind to avoid using soaps on the face, they excessively dry out the skin. Also, try to wash your face with cold or lukewarm water. Avoid washing your face with hot water.

EXFOLIATING

Ok, now this is my favorite part and I just simply love scrubbing my face! It works awesomely for my skin and gives me an instant glow. It basically removes the dead skin from the surface that tends to dull your complexion. Exfoliation should be done in circular motion and skin under the eyes and other such delicate areas must be avoided. To rinse off, use cold to lukewarm water. One must keep in mind that you must not scrub your face daily, an interval of 7-10 days is enough.

I exfoliate every week or maybe every 10 days. I usually use the following scrubs:

  • HipHop Peach Face Scrub
  • St Ives Apricot Face Scrub

You must make sure to use a gentle scrub with tiny grains. Big grains are a sign of cheap scrubs and by using them you run a risk of tearing your skin.

MOISTURIZING
A basic law in beauty is that everyone needs to moisturize, difference lying in the type of moisturizer or cream one uses. It is no secret that the type of cream you choose to use should be dictated by the skin you have. Dry skinned people must use moisturizers during the day as they seal moisture into the skin. Whenever your skin feels tight or stretchy one must moisturize. You must keep a small bottle of moisturizer handy in your purse or hand bag especially during winters.

Moisturiser

During winter season, one must also use either some kind of body oil or glycerin or a night cream before going to bed in order to keep oneโ€™s skin hydrated throughout the night.

I personally use the following oils and moisturizers:

  • Garnier Body Cocoon
  • Vaseline Cocoa Butter Lotion
  • Almond Oil
  • Olive Oil

SUN SCREENโ€œINGโ€
Whatever the season, one must use a sun screen during the day. It not only helps prevent tan, it actually delays the process of ageing and getting wrinkled up. It is a very important part of a daily skin care regimen.
I use Oriflameโ€™s SunCare Photostable Sun Lotion. It is oily, doesnโ€™t dry my skin and still protects my skin from the sun ๐Ÿ™‚

STEAMING
Now this is one process that I follow generally once a fortnight. It is the best process to best way to thoroughly deep clean your pores, to get rid of pimples, blackheads and whiteheads. Steaming your face is very important to loosen debris that may be embedded into the skin. When steaming, your pores get widened and the skin is softened, which help in cleansing the impurities more easily.

Steam

You could also use either some herbs or some essential oils in the steam water. For dry skin, rose, rosemary or lavender is recommended.

What do you do to take care of your skin during winter months?

  5. Garnier products are already here in our country. I noticed that most of the customers choose Garnier for skin lotion. Giving it a try might save me from excessive dryness.
