Winter Wardrobe Essentials

Winter Wardrobe Essentials

September is almost over and with each passing day we move towards my favourite season- winters! 🙂 now many of you who are reading this may be living in places where the word ‘winters’ doesn’t mean a thing. But for all my friends back in Delhi and rest of the north India, the exciting process of updating the wardrobe is about to start.

This is a compilation of trends to go in for this winter season without burning a hole in your pockets. But before you begin to decide on what to shop keep 2 things n mind:
• Go through your last year’s wardrobe in order to see what all basics you have. Whatever you dont need, give away to those who need warm clothes. Also, go through your summer wardrobe and see what all can you work with in winters as well.
• If you are planning to buy some basic winter item (read expensive) then i suggest you hold on for some time and hit the mall on the very first day of winter sales. They usually start in January first week and if you reach on time, you will get great deals.

Now, have a look at the following essential fall trends that you can find in variety of ranges- from thrift stores to designer labels. These are additions to your classic or basic winter wardrobe:

Cozy Pullover

Assuming you already have pullovers in basic colours, this season go in for a chunky cozy pullover. There are limitless options when it comes to colour, fit and style. If you are a working professional, then go in for a sweater dress instead.

Flared Jeans

flared jeans
Flared jeans have come back in a big way. There are not just so 70s but also very easy to wear. Team these with a structured blazer for formal occasions or a pullover for more casual occasions.

Wedged booties or Lita boots

Depending on your usage, pick either a wedged booties or Lita boots. Both of these have been hot since last season and still have a long way to go. They are surprisingly comfortable, come in every possible colour and material and they go with EVERYTHING.

Full Skirts

skirts
If you dont already have a full skirt in your summer wardrobe, grab one now! Wear them with a fitted cardigans and flats for a feminine look or a boxy pullover or leather jacket and wedged booties for more fun and edgy look.

Polka Dots in Anything

This will add the degree of fun in your safe winter wardrobe. If polka dresses and tops (which are so cute btw) not your thing, then find polka dots scarves and bracelets for a more subtle look.

What do you think of these? What all do you want to add to your winter wardrobe?

  12. It’s winter here already in the UK. My 2nd. 🙂 It’s very sensible to buy a good warm coat and layering is essential. The only new things I will buy are a nice coat and a new pair of calf/knee length boots. Apart from that I’m sticking to my jumpers and sweaters from last year.
