We all know how great tomatoes are for our body because of the high vitamin and lycopene content. But today, I will enlighten you all on how great it is for your skin too. So, stay tuned!
Works like a charm on acne
Take a fresh tomato and cut it into small cubes. Now, rub these small cubes directly on the acne for some time. The Vitamin A and C content in the tomato will help in curing the acne and give you a desirable blemish-free skin. Alternatively, you can also apply tomato juice on your face for the same superior results.
Helps in treating sunburns and tan
In order to reduce your tanning and comfort skin-burn, make a tomato paste in the blender and add some turmeric and cream to the mixture. Apply this paste to your face for 15 minutes every day till your skin soothes down. Also, people who consume five tablespoons of tomato daily are naturally protected against sunburns.
Good for teeth
Traditionally, tomatoes have been known to have high calcium content because of which they are extremely beneficial in keeping our teeth and bones in general in a tip-top condition. So, if you want to protect your pearly whites, start indulging in tomatoes more often.
Works as an anti-ageing potion
Tomatoes are rich in lycopene and zeaxanthin, both of which are known to be the most powerful flavonoid antioxidants. These flavonoids work by fighting off free radicals in our body which cause the ageing process.
Tomatoes not only add a tangy flavour to your dishes but also give you a glowing complexion when applied on a regular basis. Sprinkling tomato juice on your face or rubbing out tomato cubes directly onto the skin revives old skin cells and rejuvenates the senses.
Acts as a natural sunscreen
Being high in lycopene content, tomatoes are capable of giving you a little protection out there in the sun which can protect your skin from harsh UV rays. However, it cannot be a substitute for real sunscreens.
Acts as an astringent
The astringent property of the tomato makes it a popular choice between oily-skinned beauties. To use the tomato as a toner, mix it with a little bit of lemon juice and rub it with cotton balls on your face in circular motion.
Works as a natural bleach
Though we all know about the bleaching properties of potato, not much is known about tomatoes in this department. In order to use tomatoes like bleach, prepare a simple face pack by mashing together potatoes in the tomato pulp. Apply this mixture on your face for 30 minutes and wash off. Do this remedy at least 3 times a week.
Since tomato juice works wonders in reducing the oiliness and mattifying the skin, you can use it for reducing your open pores too to achieve a flawless look every day. Apart from shrinking your pores, tomato juice can work wonders on blackheads as well as whiteheads too. In order to reduce your pores with tomatoes, apply some tomato juice on your face and keep it on overnight. Wash it in the morning and see the difference.
Soothes irritated skin
Since tomato juice is slightly acidic, it has the ability to maintain the skin’s pH level in case it gets irritated by using a lot of makeup products or after going through chemically loaded facials at the parlor.
That’s all for today, munchkins. Hope you girls liked it! 🙂
