As far as I am concerned remembering names is no less than a herculean task for me. Need to hog on the brain food now I guess. Anyway, today while surfing the net I thought to find out some tips that might help me to remember names. Mentioned below are some of them that would help me not only to remember names but many things as well. Enjoy reading, maybe it would help you too in some way or other.

Tips to Improve Concentration/ Memory

• Stay away from stress: Chronic stress destroys brain cells and damages the hippocampus, the region of the brain involved in the formation of new memories and the retrieval of old ones.
• Take adequate sleep: Don’t be sleep deprived if you want your brain to operate at full capacity. Researches show that the key memory-enhancing activities occur during the deepest stages of sleep.
• Interact with people: Active social lives lead to the slowest rate of memory decline.

• Exercise: Physical exercise increases oxygen in brain. It also decreases the risk for disorders that lead to memory loss, such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Exercise is also very helpful in enhancing the brain chemicals and protects brain cells.
• Meditation helps: Meditation can improve focus, concentration, creativity, and learning and reasoning skills. Persons who meditate have more activity in the left prefrontal cortex, an area of the brain associated with feelings of joy and calmness.
• Keep depression in check: Difficulty in concentrating, making decisions, and remembering things are the key effects of depression. See a doctor to keep a check on it so that you can enjoy your life.
• Increase the intake of omega-3 fatty acids as they are beneficial for brain health. Walnuts, ground flaxseed, flaxseed oil, pumpkin seeds, and soybeans are equally good sources of brain food.

memory

• Avoid the intake of saturated fats as they weaken a person’s concentration and memory. Red meat, whole milk, butter, cheese, sour cream, and ice creams are the prime source of saturated fats.
• Take a diet rich in antioxidants: Antioxidants protect our brain cells from damage. Green leafy vegetables such as spinach, broccoli, romaine lettuce, Swiss chard, and arugula, and fruit such as apricots, mangoes, cantaloupe, and watermelon are rich sources of antioxidants.
• Engage yourself in brain games: Such games improve memory, attention and concentration. Relying on your long-term memory and trying to solve tough questions help stimulate the brain.

Hope these tips will help you in improving your concentration and memory.
