One of the biggest concerns, among women today is of unhealthy and dull-looking skin. Everyone loves to flaunt soft and radiant skin. How about achieving that without an illuminator? So here we share with you a few tips to achieve perfect glowing skin.
A vital step in your skin care routine, that you should never skip is of CTM. Cleanse your face at least twice daily, to get rid of sweat, dirt, and oil to prevent clogged pores and a dull appearance. Follow it up with a good toner. Finally, moisturize your skin after every cleansing.
Exfoliating will remove all dry and dead skin cells to reveal soft, glowing skin underneath. This also allows moisturizers to penetrate deeper, instead of just sitting on dead skin cells. If you choose a scrub, use one which is not too harsh. Apply gentle pressure and let the scrubbing granules do their work. Always pick a product that contains fruit acids.
Sunscreen, is one of the skin care products, you really need to invest on. This will keep your skin even toned, younger and healthier. If you are prone to irritations or breakouts, look out for extra gentle sunscreens, that are specially formulated for your face.
4. Change with seasons
It is a good idea to modify your skin care routine with the change in seasons. Use oil control washes and light toners during summers. During monsoons, opt for antibacterial and deep cleansing face washes. During winters, switch to hydrating foot care lotions and moisturizing skin care products. Use deep nourishing toners and lip balms.
Nourishing your skin regularly is a good idea to fight back all the stress that pollution endows upon it. Use a relaxing face mask to serve the purpose. Always opt for a botanical mask but the best idea would be to make one yourself at home with your kitchen ingredients. Here is a simple one that you can try: Mix half a cup of oatmeal with 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon milk and some gram flour (besan). Apply gently over your skin and wash of after 15-20 minutes. This has worked for me!
To look and feel great, your skin needs to be pampered at least once a week. Get yourself a spa once in a while. If visiting a professional spa every week is not convenient for you, get a home spa instead. Treat your skin with essential oils and steam for 5 minutes. Then, splash cold water and finish off with a toner and moisturizer.
It is very important to keep yourself hydrated at all times. Water helps remove toxins from your body, thus making your skin appear more radiant and youthful. The daily water requirements vary for individuals.
Maintaining a proper diet, is also equally essential for maintaining a radiant, youthful skin. Some foods to include in your diet are papayas, oranges, bananas, spinach, carrots, broccoli, tomatoes and dry fruits like almonds and walnuts.
9. Vitamins that help
Vitamins A, C and E are natural antioxidants and help to make your skin glow. Include foods rich in vitamin A like carrots, strawberries, leafy greens, apricots, fish. Vitamin C is found in all citrus fruits, tomatoes, berries and broccoli. Vitamin E, the most powerful natural anti-oxidant, is found in almonds, sunflower oil and other plant oils. You can inculcate these in your diet or blend them and apply as face mask.
10. Detox juice
You can always swap your morning glass of detox water or plain water for a glass of detox juice. Or you can have it after your day’s exercise sessions. Mix half a green apple with a cucumber, a handful of kale or spinach leaves, juice of half a lemon and a glass of water. Another option is blending juice of 4-5 carrots with a small piece of ginger and water.
Massaging the skin using oils and creams enhances blood flow. This in turn, helps in replenishing the skin cells. Regular and gentle massaging ensures glowing skin in the long run.
If you exercise regularly, you will undoubtedly notice the glow on your skin. Exercise does not necessarily mean going to the gym. You can always go for freehand exercises at home, do yoga or Zumba. My personal favourite however, is dance, because not only it exercises your body but also keeps you happy! You can practice any form you like.
When you are having a sound sleep, your body repairs all the damaged cells and replenishes them with newer ones. You need a good 8 hours sleep, to achieve radiant skin. Also, when you sleep, make sure all lights are turned off, your bed is comfortable enough and the bedroom atmosphere is quiet. Try switching to satin sheets and pillow cover as they reduce the chances of getting wrinkles.
14. Buy smart
Try to avoid chemicals and use botanical products as much as you can. Next time you go shopping for skincare products, make it a point to check the list of ingredients. Stay away from anything that contains parabens and sulphates. Always look for products that contain natural oils and herbs.
15. Lifestyle changes
You have probably heard this a zillion times. Believe it or not, alcohol, tobacco and too much caffeine are responsible for dull looking skin, premature ageing, wrinkles and countless other health problems.
16. Makeup tips
If you have an important event to attend and want an instant glow, blend some highlighter along your cheek bones. You can also mix a luminizing highlighter with a liquid foundation before application. For a more sun-kissed glow, brush some bronzer onto the temples and under the cheekbones. You can also use the same bronzer on your eyelids. You can also apply a clear gloss on the bridge of your nose and onto the cheekbones.
These are the things I do. I’d love to know if you have any other suggestions for possessing radiant skin.
