3 Quick DIYs Using Glycerine and Rose Water For Winters

Everybody is well aware of the beauty benefits of glycerin and rose water.  Remember the famous moisturizer of mixing equal amounts of these two for winters, it’s always amazing.  So, I am bringing 3 very quick and easy DIYs for winters which I am using now-a-days regularly; thought to share with you lovely ladies.

1.  Makeup Setting Spray:

I have never owned a makeup setting spray.  Everything in cosmetics that we buy contain a lot of chemicals.  So instead, I have worked with this recipe and it has fared very well for me. The simple science behind this is that rose water is excellent in providing hydration and glycerine locks in the moisture in skin.

Ingredients and Procedure:

All you need is 20 ml of rose water (approximately two tablespoon full) and 2 drops of glycerine and a bottle with spray nozzle.  Mix them and keep in the refrigerator.  This can be used up to 4 weeks after preparing, just shake it before every use.  The application results in fresh skin, in countering cakey/powdery effect of foundation and adds a dewy finish to makeup.  If you have super dry skin, add a vitamin E capsule to the mixture by piercing a hole in the capsule. If you suffer from pimples and zits, add a single drop of tree tea oil to the mixture.

2.  Two-in-One Scrub and Cleanser:

This trick was shared with me by my best friend when we were in school. Since then, I have been using it on-and-off (due to busy schedule), but this winter, I have turned to it religiously. It works amazingly for every skin type.

Ingredients and Procedure:

Take 1 tea spoon of sugar, 1 tea spoon of glycerine and 1 tea spoon of lemon juice in a bowl. You can of course vary the quantity taking equal proportions. Mix them well till the sugar is dissolved. Apply it to hands, arms, feet, neck and face, concentrating on elbow and dark knees.  Let it dry and the rub it with a soft cotton cloth. It will not only scrub away dead skin, but you will see dirt particles coming off, accumulated on the skin over years.  Rinse with lukewarm water and apply moisturizer.

The skin becomes noticeably soft with glowing complexion and clear skin.

3.  Rose Petals Face Pack:

I am a lazy person; I prefer using readymade face masks instead of putting in efforts to make a homemade one! But as I love nurturing my rose bushes, why not reap the benefits.  So, if you are lucky to have a garden or can get fresh roses, don’t hesitate to try this. I have been using it for two years.

Ingredients and Procedure:

The essential ingredients are rose petals of one/two roses, 1 tea spoon glycerine, 1 tea spoon rose water and either Fuller’s Earth or sandalwood.  Since its a very dry and cold weather here, I am using sandalwood bar which I soaked in rose water and then made a paste. In summer, I use Fuller’s Earth (multani mitti).

You can also use these ingredients in addition:

Egg white:  If you want toning and firming benefit from this mask (1 tea spoon and whipped).

Fresh milk cream: for those with dry skin  ( 1 teaspoon, whipped).

Lemon juice:  For those with acne problem (1 teaspoon).

Procedure:

Take all the ingredients and grind them well.  Take out in a bowl; if the paste feels runny, add sandalwood powder or multani mitti to it. If it is too thick, add some rose water. Apply and keep for 20 minutes, then rinse off.  With regular use, you can get soft, smooth and hydrated skin, with glowing face. If egg white is added, you can feel the firmness in skin and somewhat reduced pores.

  3. awesome work sumera.. *clap* I am applying rose petals and honey (replaced glycering it itches me.. *hihi* ) as per ur trick.. *haan ji* superb post!!

    1. replacing honey was a good decision neetu, its obviously very beneficial for skin but the problem here is that we consume lots of honey in green tea and weekend brunch so i am avoiding its use in face masks now-a-days … else i have to get a honey haul separately from monthly budget 😛
