3 Steps To Hide Pores While Applying Makeup

By Smriti Prabhat

Hello everyone!

Hope you’re all doing great and have flawless skin and so, you’re just reading this article to help a friend out. However, if you have dealt with acne in the past and have been left with pores around your cheeks or nose, I have a 3-steps solution to hide it all for you. It works amazingly well.

3 Steps To Hide Pores While Applying Makeup1

So, here is how you go about it –

1. Exfoliate Your Skin

Always start off by exfoliating your skin if you are planning on doing this. In the final step, you will realise why this is important but until then, just invest in a good exfoliator that is gentle and meant for sensitive skin. You DO NOT want to rub around your skin too much and aggravate it. Just let the microparticles in the exfoliator do their job. All you want to do is get rid of the dead skin on top that would cause flakiness and ruin your makeup later.

Here are some amazing exfoliators you can use:

Vichy Normaderm 3 in 1 Cleanser Scrub Mask – I love this exfoliator because it contains both Glycolic acid and Salicylic acid. Plus, it also has 25% clay. You can use this as an exfoliator and it doubles up as a face mask and a skin cleanser. It is gentle on the skin and won’t cause any breakouts.

Coffee – Use honey and ground coffee for making your own exfoliator that would exfoliate your skin gently, leave it feeling soft and smooth, and it’s also great for evening your skin tone out. If you are a DIY fan, this one’s for you. (Plus, no need to shell out extra money!)

2. Moisturize Well

I always like using a moisturiser with some SPF in it because it acts as an emollient and makes my skin hydrated and supple. I like using Cetaphil’s DermaControl SPF 30, but you can try out other moisturizers by Cetaphil, I love them all. Just don’t use too much or they would make your skin look oily, especially the Moisturizing Cream by the same brand. Remember, a little goes a long way.

Here are a few other options you can try out:

Sebamed Moisturizing Cream – This one is especially for sensitive skin and you can’t go wrong with Sebamed. Their Clear Face Gel is also an acne product that moisturizes at the same time. Plus, the texture of your skin would be so amazing after you use this.

Jojoba Oil and Aloe Vera – I know a lot of you will gawk at the very idea of putting oil on your already oily face, but it’s actually quite good. Aloe vera is there to soothe your skin.

3. Change Your Makeup Technique

This is the final most important step of them all. Use your foundation and a thick brush that has natural hair for this. The trick is to fill the pores using your makeup. So, it is important that you use the right foundation for this.

• Get to the area around your nose and go clockwise on well moisturized skin
• Stay at the same area and now go anti-clockwise on the skin
• Repeat the same around your cheeks or any area where you have visible pores on your face
• Remember to use a light hand because you have exfoliated and moisturised before, the buffing motion wouldn’t cause any problems regarding flakiness

When you’re done for the day, don’t forget to remove your makeup properly and then wash your face for good measure. You don’t want any makeup remaining in those pores. Try it out and let me know if you managed to make the pores less visible.

  1. Really useful tips gal.. I do Have open pores problem and so I wud like to add few cents.
Rubbing ice cube prior of using makeup truly helps in shrinking pores and flawless makeup. Plus using a primer is added advantage which helps me to get poreless flawless skin 🙂

  2. Yes, I agree with Neetu. Rubbing an ice cube before makeup helps for sure. I make sure I exfoliate well and moisturise my skin before I start my makeup. Still learning foundation application technique though. I wish I had flawless skin and was reading this for my friends. 😛
