You always feel happy seeing the bath products that adorn your shower shelves. But did you know that many bath products are actually hazardous for the skin? Worry not because we are here to your rescue! Below are some of the bath products that skincare experts totally condemn. Try to stay away from these products to make your skin look healthier and more beautiful.
1. Bath bombs
A while ago, my Instagram feed was filled with pictures of bath bombs and the hashtag #bathbombing was almost everywhere. Beware ladies! Do not fall for this trend. It turns out that these bath bombs are nothing but a mix of fizzy substances, salts, colorants, fragrances and oils. Some of these ingredients can be potential skin irritants, especially the fragrances and dyes. So if you have skin that is at all sensitive, skip the bath bomb altogether.
2. Bubble baths
These products rely on heavy detergents to clean simple dirt and are also highly fragranced. They contain ingredients that can cause a strange vaginal discharge, leading to yeast infections and UTIs. They can also cause skin irritation, allergies and headaches.
3. Pink-colored bath crystal salts/soaps
Evidently, a lot of us love pink. I myself ended up shopping for a lot of pink bath products until a while ago. But these pink ones are made with a dye D&C Red 6, which has been shown to be extremely hazardous to the skin. This dye is made of heavy metals that deposit toxins into the skin.
I hope all pink lovers will be able to resist their love for pink while shopping for bath products next time!
4. Cleansing products with polyethylene glycol (PEG)
PEG is a potentially carcinogenic petroleum ingredient that can alter and reduce the skin’s natural moisture factor. This could increase the appearance of aging and leave you more vulnerable to bacteria.
5. Products with added fragrances
Everyone loves to come out of a shower smelling fresh. But bath products with added fragrances are harmful for our skin. Not only do they cause irritation and rashes, but also give rise to conditions like eczema. So it is always better to opt for fragrance free soaps, conditioners, cleansers.
I hope this helps. Take care!
