Today I am here with five easy hair mask recipes using yoghurt. We tend to get numerous hair-related issues during summers. Using yoghurt in your hair masks provides your hair with a huge list of benefits. These five hair masks will help you pamper your hair and make them picture perfect. So, let’s read further.
1. Yoghurt with lemon and honey for dandruff
Lemon and honey are quite popular in treating dandruff. Yoghurt, on the other hand, has vitamins and minerals that help in keeping hair healthy and hydrated. Apart from this, it helps in removing excess oil from the scalp and hair.
How to use: Take half a cup of yoghurt and a tablespoon of honey in a bowl. Squeeze half a lemon in it. Mix all the ingredients together very well to make a smooth mixture. Apply this from roots to tips of your hair. Once your scalp and hair are covered with the hair mask, wear a shower cap to avoid any dripping. Leave the mask on for around 30 minutes and then wash it off with a mild shampoo.
2. Yoghurt with fenugreek seeds and amla for hair growth
The powder of fenugreek seeds has a high amount of potassium, vitamin C, protein and iron. It helps in cleansing the scalp and strengthening the hair follicles. It is quite efficient in strengthening the hair roots also. Amla boosts the health of the scalp and maintains sebum production. This hair pack helps in the growth of healthy and lustrous hair.
How to use: Take 6-7 tablespoons of yoghurt, a tablespoon of fenugreek seed powder and a teaspoon of amla powder. Mix all the ingredients together and keep it aside for 2 hours to let the fenugreek seed powder and amla powder to swell up. Now, apply this hair mask on your scalp and hair and let it sit for 30 minutes. Later, rinse it off with normal water and use a mild shampoo.
3. Yoghurt with avocado and coconut milk for deep conditioning
All three ingredients used in this hair mask are known for hair conditioning. Yoghurt helps in cleansing your scalp and hair while keeping them hydrated. Avocado helps in keeping your hair soft. It is quite rich in potassium and amino acids that help in conditioning your hair thoroughly. Apart from this, coconut milk provides nourishment to your hair and treats itchy scalp, too.
How to use: Take half ripe avocado, half cup of yoghurt and half cup of coconut milk. Mix all the ingredients together to make a smooth paste. Before applying this hair mask, shampoo your hair well. After shampooing, apply this hair mask and leave it on for a good 20 minutes. Later, rinse it off with normal water and follow up with a conditioner.
4. Yoghurt with egg yolk for damaged hair
This hair mask is packed with protein and protein is quite necessary to keep your hair healthy. Egg yolk in this hair mask will provide your hair with a lot of moisturisation. On the other hand, yoghurt will help in reversing the damage caused to your hair.
How to use: Take an egg yolk and mix it with 6-7 tablespoons of yoghurt to make a smooth paste. Cover your hair with this mask and wear a shower cap. After 20 minutes, wash it off with cool water instead of normal or warm water, otherwise, the egg yolk will get cooked up. Use a mild shampoo and conditioner as usual after rinsing the hair mask.
5. Yoghurt with banana for strong hair
Banana is quite rich in potassium, antioxidants and vitamins. It provides strength to your hair by maintaining its elasticity. This makes your hair breakage-free and split ends free. Also, the natural oil present in banana provides moisture while yoghurt helps in cleansing your scalp and hair by removing excess oil.
How to use: Take one or two overripe banana and mash it properly so that it is lump free. Add a quarter or half cup of yoghurt, according to your hair length. Add a tablespoon of coconut and olive oil each. Now, mix all the ingredients to make a smooth paste. Alternatively, you can put all the ingredients in the blender to make a smooth paste. Apply this hair mask and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. Wash it off with lukewarm water. If required, you can use a mild shampoo.
