5 Essential Tips for Flawless Eye Makeup Application + Products I Swear by

Hope you all are having a great day. Today I will share with you some tips and tricks, dos and don’ts on how to get your eye makeup looking flawless and right. It can be quite intimidating as a novice to use and blend eyeshadows, but fear not as with some simple tips, you can make it happen! Let’s get started!

1. Never skip primer

I can’t emphasize how important it is to use an eyeshadow primer before you apply your eyeshadow(s). Using a primer will make the colors stand out in a vibrant way, so you won’t have to go back time and again in the pot and pick up more product just to layer it heavily on your lids. A little product goes a long way when used with a primer underneath. There are several different primers available at all price ranges.

You can choose from transparent ones, nude ones, dark ones and color correcting ones also. Go for nude primer if your lids are not the same color as the rest of your face, it will create an even base and prep your lids for makeup application. Dark primers work best when working with dark eyeshadows as in smokey eyes or other metallic eyeshadows. The biggest job of a primer is to prevent your eyeshadow from creasing.

2. Right set of makeup tools

Having the right tools makes the job much easier and hassle free. Sure applying your base eyeshadow with your finger tips never goes out of style, but for creating versatile looks you need some must have brushes like a fluffy blending brush to blend in a transition color and a crease brush to smoke out the outer corners with some darker shade to create a 3 Dimensional look. You also need a pointed detailing brush to apply eyeshadow on the lower lids and an angled brush to apply eyeliner. Don’t underestimate the power of good quality brushes. Once you find the right ones, you will regret not finding them sooner!

3. Use a nude eye pencil instead of black kohl

Using black kajal on the waterline makes the eyes look smaller especially with smokey eyes or heavy eye makeup. The eyes look closed and squeezed with so many products (this doesn’t apply to girls who have big eyes). So to balance out the whole look of the eyes, skip the kajal on the waterline; instead, use a nude kohl pencil and apply the kajal/eyeshadow in black/brown shade just underneath it aka on the lower lids. You will instantly notice how awake your eyes look and the eyeshadow on top and bottom will balance out the entire look.

4. Highlighting

Make sure you highlight the inner corner and under the brow bone to finish off the look. This illuminates the eyes and gives a “lift” to your brows as well. Also highlighters reflect light so when applied to the highest parts of the face, it makes you glow with radiance. It works well when doing a party or night out look. Apply mascara to open up your eyes further.

5. Always clean fall out

Once you are done applying eyeshadows make sure to clean any fallout that has happened. You don’t want your cheeks to have specks of eyeshadows shimmering all over. It’s a simple yet effective tip that adds in having flawless eye makeup. Just use any makeup remover wipes, a wet cloth or even a big kabuki brush to dust it off. You will notice your face will look cleaner and smoother.
