Before I start writing this article, I do want to take a moment to both appreciate and also complain about what’s going on. Human bodies, especially for women undergo change at any stage of life and experience a condition we call ‘stretch marks’. While there can be many reasons why stretch marks are caused, some common ones are, rapid gain or loss of weight, during puberty, post pregnancy or due to some underlying medical reasons.

While none of us would really appreciate those stretch marks on our bodies, we should also agree that they are unavoidable. However, we can always find a work around for everything, right? So, here I have a few easy home remedies to get rid of stretch marks.

1. Apricots:

Take a few dried apricots, get rid of the seeds and grind the apricots in to a fine paste. Now apply the paste on to your stretch marks and leave the mask on for about 15-20 minutes. Wash off with warm water and pat dry. Do this at least 2-3 times a week to see rapid results.

2. Castor Oil:

Take some castor oil and heat it for a few seconds, once warm, apply the oil over your stretch marks and massage in circular motions, cover it up with a muslin cloth and place a hot water bag over the area for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off with plain water and do this daily for about one month to see results.

3. Potato:

Cut a thick slice of potato and rub it over the stretch marks and massage in circular motions with the slice for a few minutes. Leave it on for 10 minutes before you wash off with normal water. Doing this daily can help fade off the stretch marks quickly.

4. Cucumber:

Peel the skin of a cucumber, grate it and extract the juice of the cucumber. To this freshly extracted juice, add equal amounts of lemon juice and apply this mixture over the stretch marks and leave it on for 15 minutes. Wash off with normal water.

Extract the fresh gel from an aloe vera plant and rub the gel over in circular motions on the stretch marks and leave it on for 30 minutes and wash off with warm water. Do this daily for best results.

Apart from these external remedies, it is also important that you help treat your body from the inside. So, take adequate amounts of water, add good portions of protein in your diet. It is important to maintain a healthy weight and avoid crash dieting, eating a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals, particularly vitamins A and C and the minerals zinc and silicone for a healthy skin.
