5 Lip Products You Absolutely Need This Winter Season For Beautiful Lips

Hi everyone,

As the winter season intensifies, the focus of my skincare and makeup routine naturally begins to shift towards the lips. In many wintertime makeup looks, you will find a bold berry or burgundy lip featuring. Whether it is a casual look for the everyday or a glam party makeup look, a bold lip is quite acceptable and popular in the winter season.

However, with the changes in the weather, taking care of your lips becomes equally important. Not only should you make sure to exfoliate and moisturize your lips regularly to keep them soft, supple and healthy, but also it is just as important to keep your lips prepped for when you plan to wear these dark lip colors.

I have compiled a list of just 5 lip products you need this winter season to take care of your lips and to wear just about any kind of makeup look you want.

1. A clear lip balm:

To wear throughout the day (on top of a lipstick or even on the days when you’re not wearing any makeup) and to apply at night-time before bed, you need to invest in an ultra-hydrating clear lip balm. I would say that you should splurge on this product if you need to because this can really make a difference to how your lips look and feel.
Recommendation: By Terry’s Baume de Rose Lip Balm.

2. A lip scrub:

Exfoliating your lips in the right way becomes increasingly important in the winter season. Because your lips will get more dry than usual, they will also tend to flake. One of the best and easiest ways to exfoliate your lip is to prepare a DIY lip scrub using some white sugar and coconut oil. You can use a damp washcloth or an old toothbrush for a more generous scrub. But, if you’re too lazy to do that, then you can pick up a lip scrub from the market.
Recommendation: Forest Essentials Cane Sugar Lip Scrub or this homemade DIY.

3. A tinted lip balm with SPF:

It’s important to remember that you lips need sun protection, too, even in the winter season when you’ll probably be spending more time in the sun. Make sure to keep a tinted lip balm with SPF handy at all times. It’s easy to apply on the days you don’t feel like wearing a lip colour. It’ll give your lips an instant flush of colour and will keep them nourished and protected throughout the day.

4. A dark-hued bold lipstick:

As we know, the winter season is one time where we get to sport those bold, dark and vampy lip colours. There are just so many options available out there in the market for you to take your pick. My personal preference is a matte finish formula, but there’s literally something out there for everyone across different budgets. Take your pick from plum, burgundy and berry shades.

5. A red lipstick:

A red lipstick is a classic all year long, but it gains even more popularity during the December party season. Whether it’s a Christmas party or a New Year’s Eve party, you just won’t go wrong with a bright and bold red lipstick. Again, there are many kinds of reds for you to choose from. Whether you like something dark and matte or something bright and glossy, make sure to keep a red lipstick in your makeup stash this season!
