Ola bonita chicas!
Spring is fast approaching and I’m bored with plain and simple nail polishes so I’m here to offer you some shine and sparkle in your life 🙂 These will help you create fun and sparkly accents and gradients, a really simple way to spice up your nails! Maybelline Color Show nail varnishes have caused quite a buzz in the makeup world recently with their amazingly huge variety of shades and with how inexpensive they are. Although there are limited lines available in India, they have a lot more lines available in many other places, especially in America! It was hard choosing just five from all over the world, but I hope these can give you some idea of how to jazz up your nails this spring!
All Maybelline Color Show nail varnishes come in a transparent glass bottle with a black screw on top. While the Indian ones come with 6 ml of product all other varieties outside India contain 7 ml of product. Also, an important reason I picked these shades to review today is because on the Maybelline website they look very different to what they actually are like. I swatched SO MANY of these before I spent my money on this so I hope this help all of you chose something nice for yourself!
Product claims from the Maybelline Website :
I can’t find anything online and there’s nothing on the bottle regarding this. The bottle does say “Caution- keep from heat or flame”.
1. Maybelline Color Show: Diamond In The Rough 285:
Although it looks quite cloudy in the bottle, the base colour is actually is quite clear and dries to an almost dull shine. The flakes in this bottle are what immediately attracted me to this ‘shade’ and the name is so true to what it is like. This contains small flecks of foil that changes colour depending on how the light hits it; at times it is a gold, then rose gold, then almost bluish pinkish greenish purple. I imagine that’s what rough diamonds must look like! The closest thing I could describe this shade to would be a mermaid’s bottom half. This looks beautiful over a darker colour, use it on all nails or just your thumb and ring finger as accents- your call!
Price: CAD 3.49 for 7 ml
2. Maybelline Color Show ‘Veils’: Teal Beam 614:
They call this a ‘textured top coat’ and the Teal Beam is so different from the other ‘veils’ in this line. With a clear base it has these absolutely tiny gold glitter particles that give it a subtle gleam. The major particles you can see in it are small round mint green and baby blue in colour and this looks good on its own, over similar colours or over bright pastels. A romantic shade for the spring, with this the possibilities are endless!
Price: SGD 5.29 for 7 ml at Watsons.
3. Maybelline Color Show ‘Glitter Mania’: Pink Champagne 607:
The Glitter Mania line has been so popular in India and I think out of all the shades this is so versatile. It’s a light pink mixed with a silver glitter in the base note and there is also 2 sizes of glitter particles (small and smaller, if you can comprehend my size dictionary) in silver. I’ve loved doing gradients with this shade on top of other colours and Pink Champagne is one you definitely need this spring if you don’t have it already!
Price: INR 125 for 6ml.
4. Maybelline Color Show ‘Jewels’: Precious Pearl 600
This clear based ‘colour’ has several sizes of pearly white flecks in it. Teeny tiny and small round pearly white ones and, small, medium and large hexagonal pearly white ones. When you layer this on top of a dark blue or black this seriously reminds me of the constellations in the night sky. I’ve also done dotted patterns of different colours on my nails and then added this on top for extra texture. This spring it’ll be catching a lot of attention ladies!
Price: USD 2.97 at Walmart
5. Maybelline Color Show ‘Jewels’: Gilded in Gold 608:
Don’t get this confused with the Maybelline ‘Gilded in Gold’ collection like I did! This ‘shade’ from the Jewels line is called Gilded in Gold, oh boy oh boy it sure is. It contains beautiful flecks of different shapes and sizes of an eye catching gold foil. You can just imagine how many ways this can be used- by itself, as an accent on one nail, as a gradient, layered on other nail colours. Sky’s the limit! This is a must for the upcoming spring!
Price: USD 2.97 at Walmart
Pros of 5 Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquer:
- The colours are limitless and so are the possibilities you can achieve with these five!
- Everything about these is a pro!
Cons of 5 Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquer :
I’m being really picky as there really are no cons, maybe one drawback is that these aren’t very smooth to the touch once they dry?
Would I repurchase or recommend the Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquers?
I have so many of these, I will keep repurchasing more in the future. But always swatch these on clean nails before you buy because some can be really watery and have no colour or they take forever to dry. I highly recommend these to everyone out there! Go sparkle in the coming spring!

A 5 on 5 for these special five!
