Here are the lip swatches of some 51 lipsticks that have been reviewed on IMBB in past couple of months. This post is dedicated to Neha as all the lip swatches in this post are hers. Enjoy and Good Night! 🙂
I am more into hot pinks and pinky mauves and hence I picked up this one, which is not too hot or fuchsia (see comparison), but still it’s a bright pink and I think this shade would perk up any face or dull day.
The color is so blue based that it sucks the life out of my face. I think peachy nudes are my first preference but for a change I got this one with a mauve shade to it. I would say this lipstick will make a very nice n*de for people who can carry blue-based lipsticks.
The shade is a soft mauvy pink, it’s a cream finish. I am loving such shades these days. When I tried it on for the first time, I seriously thought, “wow, such a soft, buttery lipstick.”
The color is a deep plumy pink and this pink really perks up the face. It brings a lot of brightness on my dull face most of the days. I know it’s a little mature perhaps, but still I won’t call it a maroon because it does much more than that.
The color I would say is a mauvey-based fuchsia, nothing like pink or hot pink, but feels very mauvy on me. I like how they have named it as well. I would consider this lipstick best for fair-skinned women and on days when you want to brighten up your day. Its best for the dull, cloudy day when you want to brighten things up . 😛
I love the color in a carroty pink or red. My friend called it a red but it’s not much of a red to me. It is more like a carrot pink towards the hot side and I would say it is definitely wearable as well.
Gorgeous, orange red, matte with superb pigmentation, long lasting, price is justified as well. If you don’t like lipsticks that settle and feel dry and matte, then this is not for you!
Long lasting, matte, intense, pigmented, gorgeous mauvy pink shade, but sometimes looks like it has some coral undertones too. Its a must-have for 450 rupees!
This is a very feminine “hot pink” kind of a color and this can perk up fair complexions. I think its more of a party shade when worn full on and otherwise best suited as a stain only.
People who like sheer lips, soft browns, and nude colors may like this one. This shade I must say is very dull and sucks the life out of my face on a dull day. I honestly think this will make a very nice nude on tanned and dusky skin, but for me, it makes me look ill.
This particular color in deep red, I think is a classic red with orange undertones. This feels a little stiff to swipe and the color no doubt is very pigmented and goes opaque in one swipe. The formula is not so creamy as they once were, but rather harder now.
It’s soft brown, very mild, and has a very soft glossy shimmer milled inside the lipstick. So, when you see the lipstick, its all nice and flat topped and it would be mistaken for a regular lipstick, but it has fine shimmer inside which together with the sheer glossy texture gives a glistening, glossy as well as a mild shimmery effect.
I have been into mauves and pinks since I realized that browns and bricks can make you look a little suave, but as for mauves, they look sophisticated yet perky and lifts up the face. Such is the color that I am reviewing today which is a stunning, soft, mauve-pink-purple that you simply cannot ignore!
It’s creamy luscious soft pigmented and over all a beautiful nude shade, I cant pinpoint whether its peachy or pinky nude but it is nevertheless gorgeous.
This particular pink is a very blue-based pink, it’s a mauvey pink, not the soft girly pink we always have in our kit.
The color is a peachy nude, almost an mlbb shade, and I love how thick and pretty it is for a nude lipstick. The coverage is very good in one swipe and keep it at that to avoid any dryness. I love the color and the creamy matte finish which still feels petal soft.
It’s a lovely brick shade for the price of Rs. 140. Don’t expect any softness in texture. You will need to swipe it more than once to get full coverage.
This particular shade is very pretty soft peachy brown. I would still call it brown because in two swipes it starts to look more brown than peachy but very soft indeed. This one doesn’t have those strong brown tones but rather feels light and peachy. There is no shimmer or frost but plain soft brown cream finish, no gloss or moisture finish.
The color is out of this world and I am short of words to define the color. It is a coral, peachy pink, sometimes carrot plus pink, sometimes a little brick. I really can’t point my finger at that.
The lipstick is a red-based orange and its not a red as it looks. It is mainly an orange lipstick. The texture is nice and thick and still on the lips it has to be layered on and on. It feels very sheer on the lips and comes out saucy too.
The color is an awesome nude, it has a pinky brown undertone. It is not matte, rather it is glazy, not shimmer or frosty, but glazy, like very finely milled silverfish tone to it.
The shade is a pretty red-based brown and on first look, I thought it would be a maroon on me, but it wasn’t. Its a nice red-brown on me and looks fine after drying. If I want, I can still use another corresponding lipstick on the coat of this flowing lipstick, something that I like to do as I am fond of thicker lipsticks.
The shade is a brick-plus-pink based brown and of course absolutely matte. The shade comes out more brown in person than what it looks here and I don’t know why. Now, I think these are evergreen lipsticks since there are always some takers for soft browns and matte lipsticks, so I am happy to possess this one.
The color is a very good one, brightening up fair complexions a lot, but the rest of the face has to be kept neat, otherwise this color can look very dark. The lipstick is very smooth, soft, deep, and pigmented and goes on well and sets for longer.
The shade that I got is called “Rose Fantasie” and very aptly named, it reminds me of a nice, soft rose and the color is soft as well. Its not a stark pink, neither hot nor maroon based, but it’s a mauve based color.
I wore this lipstick happily and saw that it did not wash me out and to think that Faces carries such an offbeat “not suited to olive skin tone color” itself surprised me and more so to see that I can actually use this shade on days when I am not so blemished or tanned!
The colour is a deep plum-brown and duochrome finish with golden sheen to it. So, when light falls on, it shines a pretty golden and basically it is brown more than plum.
The shade is an amazing peachy orange shade and I totally love such perfect combinations of peach and brick which life up the face, not being orange, but at the same time being very “face brightening” you know.
I think I would go for this lipstick when I have used some heavy, deep blue eye makeup and never on another occasions will I wear this alone.
The shade is a pinky soft n*de brown, something that you can wear to office and wear it day in and day out. The shades is pure cream, no shimmer or frost, nothing over the top.
The color is a soft brick brown, but like I said, the color feels quite sheer, so its ideal for day wear or office wear. The lipstick on a closer look has very fine and mild silver shimmer to it due to which it looks somewhat glazy, very light though.
This shade I think is also very Indian as most of us like browns. This is a very “party wear” shade as it would go well with Indian outfits. It is definitely an evening wear and will suit fair to dusky skin tones and everyone who can carry off browns and golds.
This is the cherry on the cake. I misused it so much that you can see the result now but it is perhaps the most beautiful and wearable pink in my collection. This is a glossy pink and very creamy to the extent that it broke and crumbled under pressure but I love this lipstick and was really a late discovery.
Overall, it is an unbelievably gorgeous red lipstick and if you don’t have one in your collection, you can easily get this one soon. I am yet to buy the “Desert Bloom” shade, which an absolute nude, but remaining I have most in my collection that I really cherish.
The shade as such is a very very bright blue and pink-based purple. I don’t know how else to define it, but you can see for yourself that it really shines through in the swatch as well. I would have expected a little toned-down, creamy, mauvey-purple, but this turned out to be a loud purple.
The more I sing in praise of this shade, the less it is. It is an absolute must-have for our Indian skin tones. I think most warm skin tones would rock it. Brown, corals, pink and even mauve lovers will fall flat for this one. If you don’t have “Moisture Extremes” or say you are warming up towards them, this one should be your first buy.
The shade is a soft plum-mauve kind of color and it is an absolutely matte base. What sets this lipstick apart is that it has a duochrome sheen to it in gold.
I am so impressed with this lipstick because of the pigmentation, texture, smoothness and most importantly, the volume and fullness it gives to my lips (no its not a plumping lipstick).
The crème cup shades is a lighter version of mocha which I loved, it’s a orangy shade, no shimmer no frost, flat color with soft semi matte look, coral color and totally love the shade, the pigmentation is good the formula smooth but the real tragedy happens after an hour when it starts turning pink and stains and after a meal leaves lip as if you juts had frost bite, dry chapped and pink!
Burning Sunset is a shimmer color, absolutely orange and full of silver and gold shimmer. I would say the shimmer is definitely noticeable, which would make “non-shimmer lovers” cringe. The shade is such a glamorous orange with sparkling silver shimmer in it.
This shade is a pink, a little deeper pink, and not berry as the name suggests. Its creamy, no shimmer, no frost and no glaze, but glossy, yes!
The color that I got was a big blunder, honestly, I got it by looking at some wrong swatch online, where it appeared so much lighter, but when I opened, it was pure brown looking in the tube and was not at all lighter nudey or berry.
It is more of a sheer lipstick, for office goers or for days when you want to highlight your eyes. For me, I love the shade a lot and will definitely recommend checking these out on the counters if you like crème texture and moisturised finish lipsticks.
The color is more like my other Nine to Five that I had reviewed shades like Mocha, Earth, etc., are on similar lines, but this one is softer and with little specks of shimmer.
46. Cover Girl Continuous Color Lipstick Mauve Elegant Review
Covergirl Continuous Color Mauve Elegant is a wonderful crème lipstick, the texture which I die for, totally stunning mauve-y pink, I would say. I find it milky pink, towards mauve side, but mainly a pink for me. I picture mauve somewhere with plum in it and so I would safely call this a mix of baby plus milky pink.
This toasted almond shade is a crème lipstick (that’s what the pack said) and in one swipe delivers loads of smooth, glossy color for me, which would really look good for someone who can carry lipsticks from the red family.
