6 Cool Ways to wear the High Waisted Skirts

The 50’s are calling out to us this Spring/Summer. There is room for all thing high waist this season. Flared pants, skirts, short shorts, anything that you can think of wearing to cover or show off your legs comes in a high – waist variety! But amongst all these fabulous pieces, skirts are the ones making headlines in all of their high waist glory. There are so many options when it comes to skirts that you are certain to find one perfectly suited to your body – type. So fret not! All you need to do is some research and I’m hoping this trend report would be helpful.

Balmain

At Balmain the skirts were body hugging with cut work detail. Who else is lusting over these beauties? I know I am! Drool! They also did one maxi skirt which I think looks raw and edgy and can be paired with a lot of different options. I love the tucked in Chambray shirt into a high waist skirt. It looks casual cool. One can never go wrong with a white shirt. It’s a classic. Which look would you pick? I would one for each day! 🙂

Carven

Carven A line skirts are playful and have a bit of a school – girl feel to them. Paired with a white shirt and bright coloured accessories, this is one great look. I love doing high waist with a hint of the midriff showing. It is so 50’s and so fabulous! Just make sure to conceal your belly button, you don’t want to look trashy.

Dolce n Gabbana

Fruit prints are oh – so – cute! I would love to team one of these skirts with a bustier of a contrasting colour and a cropped jacket. The print is so fun that you can play around with it as you wish. However it might be over powering and doing print on print might be tricky. I love the fullness of the second skirt, it would look great with high platform wedges for brunch. A look which can be carried off by anyone!

Elie Saab

I am always speechless when it comes to Elie Saab. All I care about is the fact that it it Elie Saab! Enough said.

Jill Sander

The high waist, below the knee pencil skirts at Jill Sander can be a major wardrobe fix for all the working women out there. They will look strong and sexy with a pair of stilettos and a shirt. And team these with a sexy top for the night out. Either way its a winning look which you should definitely incorporate in your wardrobe this summer.

Nina Richie

Wearing just a bra with a high waist skirt might not be everyone’s cup of tea. But what you can do is add a lacy, mesh or sheer top to the look and you have a wearable outfit which would still make heads turn!

Prada

The prints at Prada and the tube tops somehow make me feel very beach – like when looking at these clothes. I would add some bangles and some long chain necklaces and dance the night away at a beach party. A tough tuxedo jacket over one of these would make for a great office/college look too!

So that’s all about high waist skirts for this season. I think everyone should give the shirt plus skirt combo a shot! It is the look to own! The rest is left to you. Try out different shoes, accessories, hats, (why don’t people wear hats anymore) and bags. You can wear one skirt in so many different ways! Just think out of the box and be creative!
