6 Uses Of Epsom Salt

Hey Girls,

My mom loves using Epsom salt for many things – most notably to get rid of unwanted body odors and doing laundry. Epsom salt is packed with many health benefits and it’s uses go far beyond bath salts. Here goes!

Epsom Salt

At Home Pedicures

Epsom Salt

After a hard week, I’m sure all you want to do is just pamper yourselves. A Pedicure would be the perfect way and there’s no need for you to leave your comfy abode for the nail parlor, just get some Epsom salt, warm water and a bucket.

Add 1/2 cup of Epsom salt and warm water into a bucket, soak your feet for 5 minutes and it’ll soften your skin. When that’s done, remove your nail polish, push back the cuticles, cut and file your toenails before you add some color on them.

If you’re trying to achieve super soft feet, soak your feet for an additional 5 minutes and enjoy soft and smooth feet after. This method also helps to get rid of foot odors.

Volumize Hair Without Dry Shampoo

Epsom Salt

If you’ve ran out of dry shampoo or couldn’t be bothered to step out and stock up, this is perfect for you! You won’t have to buy any dry shampoo or leave home.

Mix equal parts of Epsom salt and any ol’ conditioner that you’ve got and apply to your hair. Work the mixture through your hair thouroughly and leave it on for 20 minutes.

The minerals in the Epsom salt will help to soak up the excess oils that’ll just cause your hair to look flat and dull. Rinse it off after and enjoy the results.

DIY Sea Salt Texturizing Spray

I’ve been meaning to get the Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray. However, I’ve not had the time to step foot into the nearest Sephora. I was looking online a few weeks ago and I found this as an alternative. Hey! I might not even need to make a trip to Sephora.

Throw in 1 cup of hot water, 2 tablespoons of Epsom salt, 1 teaspoon of aloe vera gel and 1/2 teaspoon of conditioner into a spray bottle. Shake well to mix.

Spray the salt mixture into your hair, scrunch up your hair and enjoy your beautiful beachy-waves hair.

Soft Lips Salt Scrub

Want to get rid of the dead skin on your lips? Thinking of getting a lip scrub from Lush or Sephora? Don’t get one yet! Try this out instead. It might save you a few extra dollars.

Combine a couple tablespoons of Epsom salt with 1 tablespoon of Vaseline and apply it to your lips. Rub gently across your lips to remove dead skin and rinse off for soft, full lips.

Natural Epsom Salt Body Scrub

I’ve mentioned before that I love baths, showers and body scrubs. I really do take time to cleanse myself and remove the dead skin on my body. Every 3 or 4 months, I’ll get a body scrub from the drugstore but I use natural body scrubs most of the time. Here’s one!

After your shower or bath, gently massage handfuls of Epsom salt over wet skin to exfoliate your skin. Watch your dead skin disappear and enjoy a relaxing self-spa in the comfort of your own home.

Acne Facial Scrub

If you’ve got acne, Epsom salt is a great solution. It’s got antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties that makes it an awesome treatment for acne.

Combine 1/2 teaspoon of Epsom salt with a facial cleanser of our choice and massage it into your skin gently in small circles. It’ll help to deep clean your pores. Rinse your face with cool water and pat dry.

If you’ve got acne, I’d say to do this once a month. When the acne is really bad, don’t scrub at all. It’ll just make it worse. For those without acne, once a month is fine to deep clean your pores.

I hope you’ll enjoy the many uses of Epsom salt and it’ll help you either way. Have a great day girls! 🙂
