6 Wonderful Ways to Use Rose Petals for Enhancing Your Beauty

A friend of mine sent me an image on Whatsapp which said every rose has its thorns and I replied her back “you deal with thorns, send me the petals I will make gulkand!” LOL! I am like that sometimes. This incident reminded me all the things my Maa does with rose petals. So, here is a “rosy post” where I share some amazing uses of rose petals. 1. Acne fighting paste:

Rose petals have anti-bacterial properties which makes them best for curing acne. They also soothe irritated skin and have calming effect on skin. Soak some rose petals in water; make a paste out of it. Add honey and apply it on your acne. Leave for 15 minutes and wash it off with luke warm water. Apply it every alternative day to see results.

2. De-puffing eye mask:

To soothe tired puffed eyes you just need to crush rose petals so that their essence comes out a bit. Then, place these crushed rose petals on your eyes (over lids and under the eyes). Leave for 15-20 minutes and relax. Wash it off and see the puffiness gone pooofff!

3. A moisturizing bath:

If you suffer a very dry itchy skin which is a skin condition called Xerosis, rose petals will help you have an extremely moisturizing bath. A cups of crushed rose petals, 1 cup powdered milk or 1 cup of whole liquid milk, 2 tablespoons rose water , and 1 teaspoon of evening primrose oil. Mix them all to make a paste. Dampen your body and then apply it like a moisturizer. Leave for 10-15 minutes and then take your bath as usual.

4. Yummy gulkand:

Gulkand is a natural coolant which is very pleasant and sweet in taste. Home-made gulkand is much much better in taste than store brought ones. To make gulkand , you will need –
Rose petals (petals of fragrant and light pink roses). – 2 cups
Granulated Sugar – approx. 2 cups
Cardamom powder – 1 tablespoon
Rose essence. – 2-3 drops

Wash the rose petals with water and be very gentle. Then let them dry on a clean cloth or kitchen towel paper. Chop the petals roughly into pieces. You have to add an equal amount of sugar by weight in the petals. Spread a layer of rose petals in a dry mason jar then spread a layer of sugar over the petals evenly, repeat it until you are done with it. Close the jar with a lid and keep it in the sunlight for 7 – 10 days. Do not forget to mix it well every other day using a clean spoon. After 7-10 days, store in an airtight container and refrigerate it. Gulkand has numerous benefits .It helps in treating ulcers and prevents swelling in the intestine. It prevents sunstroke and nose bleed in summers. It also purifies blood, clears your skin and improves digestion.

5. A rejuvenating scrub for face and neck:

Soak almonds overnight and make a grainy paste in the morning, add rose petals paste to it. Use it as a scrub for your neck and face to get rid of tan and dead cells. This scrub imparts glow and clear complexion with regular use.

6. DIY Lip balm:

Take 2 tablespoon coconut oil, 1 tablespoon beeswax, 1 tablespoon shea butter, 1 teaspoon coconut or Vanilla Extract, 1/4 cup Rose Petals (fresh or dried), and 1 teaspoon sweet almond oil . Heat all ingredients on low flame until everything is melted, or microwave for 30 second intervals until melted Strain petals or keep petals. Pour into lip balm containers. They will be ready to use in a couple of hours.
