Sunspots can appear at any age and it can damage your appearance. Sometimes, the skin looks flaky too. A prolonged exposure to UV rays, excessive melanin production or sensitivity to sun rays; any of these factors could be responsible for the appearance of sunspots. You cannot get rid of sunspots overnight as the process needs time and patience. There are many Over-The-Counter medicines and treatments but, if you want to go all natural to get rid of those annoying sunspots, try any of the following remedies on a regular basis. It does not matter what remedy you use, but make sure to moisturise your skin afterwards.

Turmeric is used by my mother to treat sunspots as she always prefers using natural ways or medicines than any other treatment. She is super sensitive to UV rays and has sunspots over her cheekbones only. Turmeric is best known for skin lightening properties since ages. It treats all types of skin discolouration and makes your skin look healthy and radiant. It also has anti-inflammatory properties which help in reducing the irritation caused by UV rays.
How to use: My mother used to apply turmeric by making a paste with raw milk. She uses an adequate amount of turmeric and milk. Apply it over the affected areas and keep it for about 30 minutes and wash it off with normal water. She used this remedy for a month regularly and it helped in lightening her sunspots. Now, she uses it every alternate day to prevent the reoccurrence.
2. Lemon Juice:
Yes, it is lemon again. Be it any kind of discolouration of the skin, lemon is always proven to be an effective remedy. It has anti-inflammatory and bleaching properties which not only works on acne scars and dark spots but also works great in treating the sunspots. Using lemon makes your skin sensitive and you should avoid going out in the sun after applying lemon juice. It is advised to use lemon juice either in the evening or at night.
How to use: Just squeeze lemon juice and apply it over the affected areas. Leave it for a few minutes and then wash it off. Use this remedy regularly to see visible effects.
3. Butter Milk:
Being the richest source of lactic and malic acid, buttermilk helps in improving the discolouration of the skin. It promotes the growth of new cells and is considered to be one of the fast ways to remove sunspots. Buttermilk has the ability to keep your skin hydrated and nourished while treating the sunspots effectively.
How to use: Apply buttermilk over the affected areas. Leave it for 20-25 minutes and then wash it off with warm water.
4. Aloe Vera:
Aloe vera is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. As it contains polysaccharides, it helps in promoting the cell growth and heals the skin by regenerating the new cells. The regular use of aloe vera over the sunspots help in reducing them without any side effects.
How to use: Extract gel from a fresh aloe vera leaf. Apply it over the affected areas and leave it for a good 25-30 minutes and then wash it off. Use this remedy regularly to see visible results.
5. Green Tea:
Green tea is best for its anti-oxidant properties. The antioxidants present in green tea fights against the free radicals and makes your skin healthy. It helps in promoting the growth of new cells. It further protects your from any UV damage, if applied topically.
How to use: Prepare fresh green tea and apply it over the affected area with the help of a cotton ball. Wash it off after sometime, according to your convenience.
Watermelon is a rich source of lycopene, vitamin A, B and C. It helps in skin cells turnover and promotes the growth of new cells. This helps in treating the sunspots. In addition to this, it also lightens the complexion and evens out your skin tone. It makes your skin plump and prevents premature ageing too.
How to use: Scoop out the inner part of a watermelon. Apply it directly to the affected areas and leave it for 30 minutes or so. Then, wash it off with normal water.
7. Castor Oil:
Castor oil contains monosaturated fatty acids which promote the growth of healthy tissues. Using castor oil regularly is very effective in reducing the sunspots. In addition to this, it also makes your skin glowing and keeps it nourished while protecting from further damage.
How to use: Take a few drops of castor oil and just apply it to the affected areas. Keep this overnight. Wash it off in the next morning.
