7 Tips To Remove Skin Corns

Corn and calluses are thick, hard layers of dead skin that usually form under the feet, at the sides of the toes or above the toes. Corns are usually the result of uncomfortable footwear worn over a long period of time that usually leads to increased pressure on a particular area of the feet. Other factors include:

• Toe deformities, such as hammer toes.
• Protruding bones.
• Imbalanced or abnormal way of walking that results in uneven pressure on different parts of the feet.

Though they are not considered a serious medical problem, but they can be extremely painful.

Generally these corns can be effectively treated at home, with the use of over-the-counter medicine and regular exfoliating. However, some stubborn corns may require the care of a podiatrist for removal.

Mentioned below are few such natural tips and tricks that may prove helpful for you in case you do suffer from this problem.

• Avoid wearing poor-fitting footwear to avoid the problem from erupting at the first place.

• You must always soften your skin by dipping your feet in lukewarm water for about 20-25 minutes and then exfoliate it with pumice stone. Always be sure to use the stone gently on your skin or else you may face the problem of open sores that may further lead to infection and pain.

• Do not forget to moisturize your feet frequently to prevent the corn from becoming too dry. You can either use any good quality foot-cream or use castor oil for this purpose.

• Apply mashed papaya over the corn area and leave it on overnight. In most cases, it causes the corns to fall off naturally.

• Make a paste of baking soda, lime juice (a few drops) and some water and apply it over the corn area before going to bed. Applying this paste over the corn for 4-6 days will help it to dry off naturally.

• Soak few bread crumbs in one tsp. of vinegar for about 30 minutes. Make a paste and then apply it on your corn and leave the paste on overnight.

• Take 2 tbsp of mustard seed and 1 tbsp of salt, grind them together to make a smooth paste. Apply it on your corns before sleeping and let it remain there for about 12 hours with the help of Bandage. Soak your feet in warm soapy water after removing the paste.

If the corn still persists and continues to be painful, then it is advised to see a physician or podiatrist, who may be able to cut out the corn. Also, people who have diabetes or circulation problems should not try to cut or shave away corns at home because of the risk of injury.
