1. Cosmetic Surgery and Plastic Surgery are One and the Same
Cosmetic surgery is a special part of plastic surgery. Plastic surgery also includes reconstructive surgery. Cosmetic surgery is all about the appearance of an individual while plastic surgery and reconstructive surgery is about restoration of any physical deformity.
2. Breast Implants Increase the Risk of Breast Cancer
Breast implants do not cause breast cancer or the recurrence of breast cancer. But, it is always advisable to go for routine checkups and self breast exams.
3. Saline Implants are Safer than Silicone Implants
Both of the implants are considered safe by FDA. There is no harm in trying any of these. Although, silicone implants are more recommended because saline implants tend to have more rippling and have a much higher leak rate than silicone.
4. After Liposuction, fat will Come Back Somewhere Else
Liposuction removes fat and fat cells from the body. Once the fat cells are removed, they’re gone forever. But you need to remember that liposuction removes fat cells and not cellulite from your body. So it may not be the fat, but the cellulite that is giving your body an uneven look even after the surgery.
5. Botox is Not Safe and Causes a “Frozen Face”
There are 43 facial muscles. If the botox is injected in small doses into specific muscles by a certified surgeon, then one can have a natural softening of unwanted lines and wrinkles, without compromising on any facial expressions.
6. Cosmetic Surgery is Only for Women
This is true to an extent as number of women who choose to go for the procedures outnumber men. But more and more men are going for various cosmetic surgeries like liposuction, eyelid surgery, nose jobs (rhinoplasty), breast reductions, and ear surgery.
7. Fillers can be Easily Identified
If fillers are used in the right quantity and done in accordance with the facial structure and overall aesthetics of the face, then they do not look unnatural at all.
8. It’s Safe to Breastfeed with Breast Implants
Breast milk could absorb some of the silicone from breast implants but the amount is not considered harmful to your baby. So yes, you can.
