8 Eye Makeup Tips for Office or College that Won’t Look OTT

Hello everyone!
One of my friend’s sister, who just got admitted in a college and is a big-time IMBB fan, asked me, “I want to try out new eye makeup, but I can’t flaunt something very loud in my college. Suggest something!” This post is for all those college and office goers, who want to break out of their old rut, and experiment with new colors and yet look subtle and not OTT.

Get your basics right

how to apply kajal
A jet black kohl and a black liquid liner: the must-haves in any women’s kitty. And the more, the merrier! Look for an intense, long-wearing, smudgeproof eye liner or kajal that can add depth to your eyes. I would suggest L’Oreal Paris Kajal Magique Bold and Maybelline Colossal Super Black Kajal. If felt tip liners are your thing, the Maybelline The Colossal Liner, Maybelline Hypersharp Power Black Liner and Lakme Eye Artist Pen can be your BFFs.

Try white and beige liners

On days you want to look awake, and yet not made up, swipe a white or beige liner on your lash line for the brightened effect. Make sure you don’t apply too much pressure. Sephora Long Lasting Kohl Infinite Beige and Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Liner Pencil Soft White are my recommendations.

Try darker colors in place of black

The best way to add colors to your eyes is by wearing colored liners. Since you can’t go for bold colors, try colors which are dark and yet retain an allure. Think of charcoal, cocoa and navy blue, which can be easily worn to the most dreaded of lectures and most tiring meetings. Top picks are Colorbar I Glide Eye Pencil Absolute Pine and Electra, L’Oreal Paris Charcoal and Plum Infallible Silkissime Eyeliners.

Invest in a nude palette

Every cosmetic company is coming out with nude palette variants. Reason: they are versatile and can add definition to your eye makeup. Plus, they complement the bolder colors, so they are the perfect companion for a muted yet elegant eye makeup. Maybelline The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette, Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Eyeshadow Palette, theBalm Nude Dude Eyeshadow Palette and L’Oreal Colour Riche La Palette Nude can be option for you to consider.

Lash line matters

If you are bored of same old colors, try lining your upper lid with black liner, and fill in your lash line with emerald and turquoise. This way, you get to use these beautiful jewel colors and yet not attract any unwanted attention. L’Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner in the shade True Teal, Maybelline Turquoise Kohl and Colorbar Emerald Charm I-Glide Eye Pencil are definitely some lovely options to try.

Steer clear of shimmers

Do not wear shimmery makeup to college or workplace, it is distracting and is often looked down by peers and higher authorities. Mattes are made for you! So, use eye shadows which have a matte finish and look classy. Reserve your shimmery blues and golds for night outs.

Choose eye shadows with care

A few eye shadows can be your daily staples: rose, brown, beige and grey. They are neutral and pretty apt for everyday use. Take care that you blend them well and avoid any harsh lines or patchy application.

Tone down with black

If you really want to wear a bright color, tone it down with a black liner. Smudge your purple or green kohl with a black one for a slightly smokey look. This way, you can create a bit of drama in your looks, but not make your eyes the focus of everyone’s attention.

Besides these, take care if your brows, keep them well groomed and don’t forget a generous coat of your favorite mascara. You can surely ace your daily eye makeup with these simple tips.
