Smoothies are great and really delicious. There are all kinds of smoothies from really healthy to unhealthy ones. We can make them delicious and healthier by adding these super foods to them. Let’s find out who they are?

Flax Seeds
Flax seeds are an excellent plant source of omega-3 fatty acids. These seeds are also great alternative for vegetarians like me who doesn’t eat fish or take fish oil supplements.
Recipe: Take 1 ripe banana, 1 cup frozen blueberries, 1 cup low-fat plain yogurt, 4 tbsp flaxseeds and 1 tbsp of honey in a blender and blend until smooth.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil aids in weight loss, reduces cholesterol levels, have anti-aging properties and works as a hair and skin moisturizer. Coconut oil works well with almost all smoothie recipes.
Recipe: Take 1 red bell pepper (stem and seeds removed), 1 orange and 1 tbsp coconut oil and blend them in a blender. Sprinkle some cayenne pepper or ground cinnamon over your smoothie.

Aloe Vera

Yes you can use the natural aloevera gel derived from plants in your smoothies. It can lower the cholesterol levels, stabilise blood sugar levels and improve the digestion.

Recipe: Raw aloevera gel does not alter the taste of smoothies so you can add it to all your smoothies to enjoy all of its health benefits.

Blueberries

Blueberries have the highest amount of antioxidants present in any fruit which can help fight cell damage caused by free radicals and delay the onset of the signs of ageing.

Recipe: Take 1/2 cup frozen blueberries with 2 cups green tea and 1 cup unsweetened pomegranate juice. Combine all ingredients in a blender, and blend until smooth.

Kale
Kale contains unique chemical compounds that boost DNA repair in cells; it stops the growth of cancer cells and is extremely high in many vitamins and minerals.

Recipe: Take 1 cup kale, 1 sliced apple, 1 banana, parsley leaves and coconut water. Blend them and serve.

Chia Seeds

They are truly super foods packed with calcium, fibre, protein, phosphorous, manganese, and omega-3 fatty acids. They work great to provide a creamy base to any smoothie.

Recipe: Take 1 cup apple juice and frozen mixed berries with 1 tbsp chia seeds. Blend all ingredients in your blend until smooth.

Goji Berries
If you can find them then they are the best super food you can get. They are great for our mental well-being, strengthen the eyes and boost the immune system.

Recipe:You can add a tablespoon of these berries to any of your smoothies and enjoy the divine taste.

Spinach

These green leaves are excellent source of fibre and curb our appetite which makes us feel full for longer intervals and avoids overeating.

Recipe:Take 1 cup apple juice, 1 cup of diced and peeled avocados and apple and 2 cups of spinach. Blend them in a blender to achieve a smoothie like consistency.
