Causes
Dandruff can appear on the scalp when the scalp is parched and of poor condition, but dandruff occurs on eyelashes or eyebrows due to various reasons:
1. Blepharitis – This is a condition where dandruff appears to be flaky on eyebrows. However, this flaky dandruff can be treated and you need not worry as it is not contagious.
2. Seborrhea dermatitis – In this condition dandruff appears flaky, but the real reason is not known. However, experts say that this occurs due to excess consumption of junk or oily food. People who drink very little water often suffer from dandruff problems as the toxins in the body tend to clog the pores.

Here are the home remedies to treat this issue:

1. Almond oil

You should use some almond oil to massage your eyebrows and lashes. When dandruff occurs, the area tends to become dry and hence an oil massage is necessary to maintain the hydration level of the skin. Due to its antibacterial properties, almond oil keeps your skin supple as well as give you stronger brows and lashes. Take some almond oil, heat it for some time and then massage for 10 minutes.

2. Baby shampoo

If you are using an anti-dandruff shampoo to get rid of dandruff on eyebrows then stop using it. Use a baby shampoo instead to remove dandruff from your eyebrows and eyelashes as it will not affect your eyes. Dip a cotton swab in diluted shampoo and apply on your brows and lashes. Now massage for some time using the fingertips and wash off with water. Be gentle and careful while doing this.

3. Tea tree oil

Using tea tree oil is one of the most effective remedies to get rid of dandruff. You should take some tea tree oil, warm it for some time and apply on your lashes and brows using a cotton ball. Wait for some time and wash off with lukewarm water. Repeat this procedure 2-3 times a day for best results.

4. Use of warm water

Take some hot water and soak a cloth in this. Now keep the towel directly on your eyelids covering the eyebrow area as well. Allow the cloth to be there in the same position for some time and then remove it. Using a warm cloth can eliminate dirt, dust, and oil accumulated on the eyelids as well as the eyebrows, resulting in removal of dandruff over time.

5. Olive oil

Packed with large amounts of antioxidants, olive oil is the answer to most of the skin and hair problems. Olive oil is potentially rich in antioxidants that help eliminate dandruff from the eyelids and brows. Take some olive oil and rub on the targeted area. Now keep a hot towel on the face and leave it on for 15 minutes.

6. Healthy diet

You should make sure that you drink at least 10-12 glasses of water every day. Including water in your daily regime can reduce dandruff. You will observe the difference in a few days, but consult a dermatologist if you do not see any changes.
