Hi all,
When it comes to style, nobody wants to be left behind! Trends come and go but there are few style statements you can always bank upon!

9 Modern Style Lessons Every Woman Should Learn

1. Believe in pink

Fashion has definitely fallen back in love with colour pink. It has been seen all over the red carpet, with big brands like Chanel and Prada showcasing collections particularly in colour pink. I totally suggest that we should embrace the colour pink and I’m all for it. Feminine, classy and elegant is what the colour defines. So go for it girls. Get some pinks in your wardrobe.

2. When in doubt, wear a bold statement jacket

statement jacket
The word jacket comes from the French word jaquette and it refers to a small or lightweight tunic. There is nothing like a statement jacket. It is an instant style statement and makes you unnoticeable. Every woman should have one good jacket that is a saviour at all times.

3. Sometimes your biggest fashion statement should be your shoes

stilettos
If you are a girl, then you will definitely agree with me when I say that shopping for shoes and flaunting a new pair every time you go out is one of the most fulfilling experiences. Stilettos are a symbol of attitude rather than just high heeled shoes. They are the armour of modern day women as they project the person wearing them as confident and strong willed, so definitely a must have and strongly recommended. You can wear them with a short dress or casual trousers and you will look enticing. In my opinion, these statement shoes are a women’s best friend.

4. Don’t be afraid of a bold and an unusual hue

bold hues
Human eye can see millions of different hues, but sometimes, choosing even just two or three to use from those million can seem like a daunting task. Colours have an extraordinary ability to influx mood, emotions, and perceptions. They take on cultural and personal meaning and attract attention, both consciously and subconsciously. So do not hesitate in trying unusual or for that matter, bold hues (monochromatic hues or analogous hues or complementary hues). They will definitely make heads turn for good.

5. Long live the maxi skirt

maxi skirts
Maxi skirts are classic pieces that many ladies are wary to try on. It’s important to understand that like jeans and a jacket, a maxi skirt is also a staple fashion piece that works in any season, and can be worn either to dress down or up. All you need to do is to convince yourself first that you, too, can rock this outfit. The trend of the maxi skirts dates back to the late 1970s. Designers today have been reviving vintage fashion. So start planning a skirt shopping trip.

6. Embrace the printed pants whenever you can

printed pants
With printed pants paving their way through the fashion streets, it’s time to get experimental and revamp your wardrobe. Bold motifs, feminine patterns and even figurine prints make their way in, on all kinds of pants, to flatter all body types. For those on the heavier side apprehensive about wearing prints, you can take your pick from loose, comfy harems, palazzos and dhoti pants to camouflage your problem areas whereas for those who love to flaunt their perfectly toned legs, sleek denims and pencil jeans with a whole range of prints can do wonders. Pretty print trousers are a great addition to your wardrobe for the summer. Surprisingly versatile, the summer style staple can be smartened up for the day and then dazzle at night.

7. When dressing for a black-tie event, go for a feminine fairy tale black gown

An evening gown is a long flowing women’s dress usually worn to a formal white-tie or black-tie occasions. It is usually made of luxurious fabrics such as chiffon, velvet, satin etc. An evening gown can be in any silhouette (sheath, mermaid, a-line etc). It’s very feminine and an instant statement. No woman can ever go wrong with a well fitted black gown. The black Givenchy dress (sheath) of Audrey Hepburn is cited as one of the most iconic items of the twentieth century. Flatter everyone with your favourite fairy tale black gown.
P.S. – Black makes anyone look slimmer!

8. Invest in a pair of leopard print pumps

One fashion trend that I have always loved or rather can’t do without (and can still incorporate into my summer wardrobe) is leopard print. You can pair pumps with your favourite closet staples; hence it’s a must in every woman’s wardrobe. They are a perfect accessory. I love them paired with wide leg trousers, skinny jeans, fun skirts, denim cutoff shorts, dresses, ankle length ripped pants; you name it! Go grab one pair for yourself soon.

9. Draped coat over your shoulders = instant chic

Chicest way to wear a coat is to not wear it! Photos after photos show that women are skipping sleeves in favour of a slung coat look (just letting it be there, not actively putting on the coat). Drape coats are one of the hottest trends. The trend has become incredibly popular with big names like Olivia Palermo and Miranda Kerr carrying it.

I hope these modern style lessons will be of help to all you beautiful women of IMBB. Keep experimenting and stay confident. Remember that a smile is the most beautiful curve on a women’s body. So keep smiling and stay stylish.
