How are you all doing today? Hope you are great and rocking as usual. Well, I am a dry skinned girl and, at some instances, I feel blessed. Because, my flatmate has oily and acne-prone skin. You can see acne on her skin all the time. But, is it really that normal? So gradually, I realised that there were some basic shower mistakes which she was making. These mistakes were giving her more acne than usual. Don’t believe me? Here is the list of mistakes that you could be making in the shower too; take a look!

9 Shower Mistakes that Cause Face and Body Acne

Your dirty sponge

Your sponge is a skin care accessory that hangs in your shower day and night. It attracts a lot of dirt and germs. So obviously these sponges and loofah lead to bacterial infections and acne. Thus try to go for dermatologically approved konjac sponges. These sponges are made with natural konjac fibres and are hypoallergenic in nature.

Don’t forget to moisturise your skin

Moisturising your skin is of utmost importance every day. When you are in the shower, your skin is wet so that is the perfect time to apply a moisturiser. This way, your moisturiser will sink deep into your skin. Sometimes dry skin can also be a major cause of acne. So, don’t forget to moisturise your skin. And, if you don’t have body moisturisers or don’t like them, go for all-natural jojoba oil.

Filtered shower head

Did you know that the city water is very hard and infectious? It is not good for your skin and hair directly. So, you can try a filtered shower head. It removes chlorine, pesticides, heavy metal and bacteria from your water and thus will make your water pure and perfect for the bath.

Strong shampoos

Sometimes the usage of extremely harsh shampoos and conditioners can clog your pores. And if you are a frequent shampooer then we would suggest you switch to all natural shampoos and conditioners. Try going the no-shampoo way for best results.

Use of microfiber

Do you know what microfibre is? Microfiber is a thick towel which is very effective at removing makeup. Sometimes even your makeup remover can remove your makeup 100%. Many beauty experts swear by this piece of fabric and claim that this microfibre can deeply cleanse your skin.

Use aloe vera

Aloe vera is an all-natural moisturising agent. It keeps your skin soft and glowy without causing any breakouts or other skin concerns. So, if your skin is extremely sensitive and you are not sure about any other moisturiser, use aloe vera on your face.

The too hot water

Very high temperature of the water is not good for your skin. It is not good even for your hair too. Did you know that hot water causes hair fall and hot water on the skin causes skin redness and irritation? So, even in winters, dilute your hot water with normal water so that it is soothing and comfortable on your skin.

Harsh soap

Usage of harsh soap or even too much of scrubbing and soap can make your skin dry and sensitive. This can further make your skin sensitive and acne prone. So go for gentle soaps, body washes and face washes.
