These days we all are well-informed about how to take good care of our skin. We use the correct products and we eat right. But then why is our skin not glowing enough? Why does our skin not look clear? Clueless? Don’t worry! In this compilation, I am going to talk about nine skin care mistakes that you could be making and why any good dermatologist would wish you stopped making them.
When you have a rough or coarse skin or your face is darker and patchy than your neck, over-scrubbing could be the reason. You might be overusing products with salicylic acid, glycolic acid, retinol, cleansing grains etc. Even overuse of cleansing brushes could make your skin patchy and dark. Scrub your face once or twice a week for best results.
Frequently touching your face
A lot of dirt and germs get accumulated on the hands throughout the day and, when you touch your face with your hands, these get transferred to your face. This habit further clogs the pores, leading to infection and pimples.
Washing your face with harsh chemicals
Always choose a gentle cleanser and use it only once in the morning. After that, opt for only water, cold water particularly, to wash your face. You can splash it multiple times during the day.
Using too many products
All of us make this mistake. Remember, too many products won’t guarantee great results. Try to use lesser but more potent products. An antioxidant-rich serum, a sunscreen and a retinol-based night cream are essentials; you can add or subtract other products from your regimen.
Torturing your pimples
Pimples are painful and they make your life painful too if you keep picking on them. Over-touching, pulling and picking pimples do not only leave marks on your skin, they permanently damage your skin too.
Not removing makeup every night
Do you think your skin is ageing faster than it should or it is losing the “glow” with each passing day? Then, you are responsible. You are the one who is not removing makeup before hitting the bed. Doesn’t matter how tired you are, just remove it. Follow up with a cleanser, toner and moisturiser to keep your skin healthy.
The cleansing brush is not for everyone
Cleansing brushes look quite fancy and even promising. But did you know experts suggest that cleansing brushes are not meant for all skin types and textures? Sensitive skin types and dry skinned people should maintain a safe distance from such brushes.
Being too rough
Rubbing your skin vigorously after washing your face isn’t ideal at all. You need to gently pat your skin dry. Keep showing your skin some TLC every now and then to see some results. Love your skin and it will love you back.
Using random products
Do some research on the products you are opting for before finally including them in your skincare regimen. Do not buy fancy products just because their packaging looks promising. Read the ingredients list well, find out if they are meant for your skin type. For example, people with dry should stay away from astringents as they are not meant for dry skin type at all, and use a toner that’s specially formulated for their skin.
