It’s true that celebrities have million dollar logistics working behind them but that doesn’t mean that we can’t take inspiration and tips from this diva to ensure getting back into shape and being the most yummylicious mommy in the block.
1. Stay Active Before and During Pregnancy
Like they always say, prevention is better than cure and this is an advice to all the mommies-to-be, an active lifestyle is extremely crucial for post-partum weight loss. Kareena says that she loaded up on calories in the traditional Indian manner during pregnancy which led to weight gain, but her high metabolism due to a fit and active life before and during pregnancy helped to kick-start those hormones and metabolism and pave way for the phenomenal post baby weight loss.
2. Don’t Go on a Crash Diet:
Rujuta Diwekar, the celebrated dietician credited with Kareena’s size zero figure swears by this funda. She says that crash dieting is like taking one step forward and two steps back, because it will cause extreme imitation of calories which will put additional strain on an already strained post pregnancy body, leading to spoiling of bot mother’s and baby’s health and not achieve noticeable weight loss. Rather the right food, in the right proportion will help you achieve your goal faster and in a more sustainable manner.
3. Say Yes for Ghee:
It’s the Indian weight loss secret for mothers and Kareena and Rujuta swear by it. Before you discard ghee as fat, it’simportant to know a few more things about ghee. Ghee isn’t healthy only for the baby’s health but also for weight loss. “Anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, lubrication of joint, glowing skin, good fat for weight loss are some of the benefits of ghee,” Rujuta says.
4. Say Yes to Rice:
Rice is one of the first things we cut out when on the weight loss path but we forget that rice in the right quantities can do wonders for your body. According to the dietician, rice is a must every day. It brings back the bacteria needed by the body. She said, “The reason is that eating rice allows you to bring back a lot of the good bacteria that something as strenuous as a delivery may wash out.”
5. Walk those Pounds off:
Walking is one of the best exercises in the initial days after delivery. Kareena was advised to stay off extremely strenuous exercises initial to recover herself from the strain of delivery and during that time when it was too difficult to even get on the treadmill, Kareena walked those pounds off. She would walk for 20 minutes carrying Taimur in her arms as free weight, and felt that it kick-started the initial weight loss for her.
6. Be Religious when it Comes to Working Out
If there is one thing that we see in abundance in social media is pictures of Kareena stepping out stylishly and casually out of her gym, which should remind you that she sticks to her workout no matter what. She is known to be extremely disciplined and for any workout to work, it is extremely important to be religious with it. Therefore, no matter what you’re chosen form of work out is, running, jogging, gym, yoga, always remember that consistency is the key.
7. Aerial Silk Yoga to the Rescue:
We all know, Kareena practices yoga every day, and her yoga instructor, Anshuka Parwani shared that Bebo is not counting kilos and her focus is on strengthening her core muscles.In fact, Anshuka designed a special workout routine for Bebo, which she followed exceedingly well.Anshuka further added:“It’s not about jumping but holding postures. Kareena can hold position for up to two minutes which is an achievement. Her workout is tailor-made and we keep changing the routines. Post pregnancy, it’s been a lot more about balancing out hormones and the endocrine system.” “She practices the ‘Aerial Silk Yoga’ which uses a low-hanging hammock to aid traditional postures by supporting your entire body weight mid-air. Kareena and I are always working towards achieving more aligned postures through relaxation and breathing. I usually travel with her so we don’t miss a session and when I can’t she does cardio.”
8. Milk for More than Weight Loss:
Milk has been an all-round wonder drink for Kareena. Aside from keeping a strict calorie count, she also paid attention to her calcium levels. “In one pregnancy, you lose five years of calcium in the body,” said Kareena, explaining why she has been religiously drinking a tall glass of milk every night since she gave birth. Aside from having large quantities of CLA (conjugated linoleic acid), dairy also has short chain fatty acids, “These help in the mobilisation of fat from stubborn areas, such as the tummy,” explained Rujuta.
9. Stay Happy and Positive:
This is going to be one of the most special phases of our life so being happy and positive is crucial to losing weight. Kareena wanted to enjoy motherhood and take things slow which is why even though her transformation took over a year, we can truly call her the happy, radiant, diva Mom.
