My Experience with Ahava Mineral Botanic Velvet Body Lotion:

My skin being on the dry side, I need all the hydration I can get. Hence I love to collect body lotions and hydrating creams. I knew that Ahava was a very reputable brand and they had very high quality raved about products. Hence I decided to try this body lotion from their mineral botanic line which is claimed to be infused with dead sea minerals.

Packaging:

I love the sleek and simple packaging.  The pump dispenser makes it incredibly hygienic while controlling the amount of product taken out during use, hence controlling wastage.  I do not like products which have opaque packaging as it makes it difficult to know when you are running low on product. Thankfully, this product does not have a completely opaque packaging. You can see the amount left in the bottle if you put it in front of the light. Also, the dark and slightly opaque bottle helps in keeping the product quality from being affected under direct light.

Texture/Consistency/Feel of product:

The texture and consistency of the lotion is very good, neither too thick nor too runny. Hence it spreads very easily without compromising the hydrating properties.  The lotion gets absorbed into the skin instantly and skin feels incredibly smooth and soft instantly. No greasy or sticky feeling.  I do not feel the need to reapply the lotion during the day which is a very remarkable quality as my skin sucks up any moisturizer I put on it and after a few hours, it’s parched as ever. My skin stays hydrated with this applied just once in the morning. This can also be used as a great hand cream as the skin on hands still feels moisturized even after a couple of washes.

Fragrance:

I sniffed this product in the store before buying and it was love at first sniff for me when it came to this particular fragrance. I also smelled the Honeysuckle and Lavender versions, also the Hibiscus and Fig variants in the store before settling on the Lotus flower and chestnut scent. The former two smelled very sweet to me which is something I do not enjoy. The lotus flower and chestnut scent has the right amount of floral quality to the scent without being too sickly sweet. It also smells a little bit beach-y to me. The scent is so incredibly refreshing whenever I sniff it. Also my husband loves this scent on me too which is a huge plus. The scent mildly lingers on the skin for a couple of hours.

Long term effects on skin:

I have been using this lotion for a couple of weeks now and have noticed vast improvements in the skin. My skin does not get dry quickly and stays softer and smoother for long. I do not feel any itchiness or flakiness on my skin which used to be a huge problem when I was using other drugstore lotions.

The quantity provided is huge for the price and only 1-2 pumps are needed to cover full hands or full legs. Hence this bottle will last me for a few months.

  • There’s no need to reapply it for the rest of the day.
  • Skin stays hydrated even when the product is washed away.
  • No sticky or greasy feeling, gets absorbed instantly.
  • Huge quantity provided for the price which makes it very affordable.
