Today’s review is about a facial scrub which I had purchased under the “Product Purchased by IMBB” scheme. Let’s get in to the in-depth review of Alba Botanica Hawaiian Facial Scrub with Pore Purifying Pineapple Enzyme.

Product Description:
Pore-pleasing papaya and pineapple enzymes work their magic to clear out impurities. Gentle buffing granules smooth away dulling debris to unveil radiant skin. Hypo-allergenic vitamin E, aloe and jojoba soothe and moisturize.
My Experience with Alba Botanica Pore Purifying Pineapple Enzyme Hawaiian Facial Scrub:
Packaging: It comes in a very attractive but slightly bulky tube. The chubby tube is yellow and green in color, with product details printed in attractive fonts. The packaging is so tropical and summery, perfectly goes with the name “Hawaiian.” The flip open cap is quite okay, and you can squeeze out the product easily.
At the very onset, I need to clarify that I am not really very impressed with this scrub. It is not a bad scrub, but not the kind that I like. So, where did this scrub fail to impress me?
The first aspect is the fragrance. Normally, I am not sensitive to strong smells, so rarely I am concerned about the fragrance. But this overpowering smell has a weirdness to it that I can’t explain. It does have a prominent pineapple smell, but I feel it also has some other ingredient which gives rise to a not-so-appealing scent. Nonetheless, I guess I can live with it.
The consistency of the scrub is not creamy, instead it feels that the exfoliating granules are suspended in a thick liquid. A long time ago, I used face wash with a pinch of salt as a scrub. I used to add the salt in the face wash and exfoliate my wet face. This somehow reminds me of that, the difference being that these granules are slightly larger and less harsher than salt.
The granules give a nice cleansing action, more than a deep scrubbing one. My skin feels clean and soft. It doesn’t result in any major abrasive action against the delicate facial skin and can be used as a daily exfoliator. On the flip side, it does nothing for blackheads, whiteheads or open pores. I like a scrub which clears out the deeply-rooted gunk from pores, but this works mostly on a superficial level. I use this daily, and every two days, I use a blackhead-removing scrub to clear my clogged pores.
On a different note, Alba Botanica products are organic with 100% vegetarianism and no animal testing. The brand also advocates that no parabens, sulfates, phthalates, or artificial colors are used in the products. I would definitely try out some more of their products, as Deep Sea Facial Mask from this very same brand really impressed me.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase Alba Botanica Pore Purifying Pineapple Enzyme Hawaiian Facial Scrub?
No, I have used many better performing facial scrubs at lower prices, so wouldn’t recommend or repurchase.
