Algenist Gentle Rejuvenating Cleanser Review

Skin type: Oily-sensitive, acne prone.

Hello Beauties,

I am here with another addition in my winter skincare regimen from the brand “Algenist”. I have tried Algenist products before and find them pretty wonderful for my weird skin type considering the fact that they are generally gentle enough for sensitive skin types. Let’s read more about Algenist Gentle Rejuvenating Cleanser!

My Experience with Algenist Gentle Rejuvenating Cleanser:

The creamy cleanser comes in an opaque and sturdy plastic tube packaging with a flip top opening. It does have a strong medicated fragrance which might be a turn-off, though, it subsides quickly. Overall, I like its travel-friendly and user-friendly packaging. The pearl white cleanser reminds me of the Cetaphil cleanser (though it is not runny like the former one). It also produces a good amount of lather that is enough to cleanse the skin, unlike other foaming cleansers. Like any cream cleanser, we need few drops of water to work into a decent lather and rub it gently on the skin; it has smooth slippery texture and not grainy or scrub kind of formula.

It is mild and gentle on our skin like Cetaphil os cleanser though the latter has slight thick consistency with a tacky feel. Moreover, I am habitual of using intense foamy cleansers lately, hence, it definitely makes me wonder if I am going under or overboard with this product. It also takes a bit of patience and slight hotter temperature than warm water to remove it from the skin. This is the reason why I limit its usage for night time routine and not during early morning rush hours! However, using it with a charcoal sponge or Clarisonic system does not make any difference except the fact that I feel same slimy tackiness while rinsing it off the skin. I mean this cleanser seems ideal for pairing up with our cleaning tools while I would still rely on my previous Belif cleanser for hands-on cleaning.

Now talking about its few positive points, as I mentioned earlier, it’s way mild for our skin exactly what I want in my winter skincare regimen. Secondly, it gently invigorates the skin for a smoother and refined appearance without being harsh or physically exfoliating our skin. I never felt any redness or over stimulated skin after using this cleanser; in fact, I often pair it with my Clarisonic brush and it smoothly cleanses off dirt, grime from the skin without causing dryness or flakiness so far.

This also explains its utility for beauties with dry, combination skin along with problematic skin as it does not irritate or interfere with the natural pH balance of our skin. Even I find it equally useful for dry summers considering its mild invigorating property which keeps dirt, oil at bay without ripping off the natural oils and hydration off our skin at the same time. It is just that my pregnancy is making me go nuts for medicated fragrances and anything in the name of the perfume, hence, I really cannot stand such products for now.

But, if you have sensitive skin which can easily feel irritated then go for this mild cleanser it will work like charm for your skin, provided you are fine with medicated smells and the tacky formula. I might not get it again as I am tending to like a fragrance free formula; plus we cannot deny the fact that I have used (slightly) better products than Algenist before which seem bit cheaper or otherwise equally pricey. Hence, it would be my least preference if not staying clear of it!
