I have been trying to do this post for a pretty long time but somehow or other it gets delayed. Being a Mac fan I had to lay my hands on this palette that was launched as a limited edition palette, with all the 6 shades of Viva Glam. It is a collector’s item and I just could not let this go. I will not review the palette in general but I wanted to put all the Viva Glam shades together in one post. All 6 shades mentioned here are permanent and picking up a Viva Glam is always guilt free as 100% of the price goes to the Aids Fund. Hope you like the swatches.
From the website:
An unprecedented 100% of the purchase price of any VIVA GLAM product goes toward the M•A•C AIDS Fund.
Mac describes Viva Glam I as Intense brownish blue-red [Matte]. Very true description and I find this very wearable shade of red. Due to the depth and richness of the shade it can be worn easily by a lot of age groups and skin tones. Though matte might seem uncomfortable, I find Mac mattes to be pretty comfy and long wearing.
Mac describes Viva Glam II as muted pink-beige with shimmer [Satin]. I find this the lightest of the lot and slightly difficult to pull off. It gives a “washed out lips” to my NC 42 skin tone and I keep it only for fresh face days. With blemishes and tanning it looks horrible on me. If you are NC 40 or lighter, you can give this a try for “the nude” lipstick.
Mac describes Viva Glam III as muted brownish-plum [Matte] and this is the darkest shade of the lot. It looks gorgeous on the lips and one swipe of color is great to up the whole make up look. Being matte it stays long and gives intense color depositing in one stroke. This is one of the favorites in the whole collection.
Viva Glam IV:
Mac describes Viva Glam III as mid-tone rose with gold pearl [Frost]. For me this is beautiful rose-gold shade and an ideal wear for day events. It not only brightens up the face but being in frost finish gives the illusion of fuller lips as well. It can be paired with a variety of makeup looks and is again a winner shade in the Viva Glam collection. The staying power is less but that can be improved with a lip liner as a base.
Mac describes Viva Glam V as a neutral pink with pearl [Lustre], which is good for daily use. Lustre finish lip colors by Mac are comfortable to wear but do not give intense pigmentation on the lips. Also the staying power of the luster lipsticks are less compared to other finishes. The problem with this shade is, it goes on a bit streaky on the lips and does not completely cover lip pigmentation (as you can see in the lip swatch).
Mac describes Viva Glam VI as terracotta-plum with pearl [Lustre]. I find this quite similar to IV but this one is on the warmer side. The pearly shimmers add to the glam quotient of the lip color and make this a lovely wear for day-events. This shade is again a very wearable shade and I like pairing it with dramatic makeup as the lips remain glossy and muted.
These are priced at Rs 1450/- each and do not come in the range of Back to Mac, which means if you return 6 empty containers you are entitled to get any one permanent lipstick but not these.
