For years of exploring makeup, I never had once used a liquid eyeliner until recently when a dear friend sent a package with few makeup products in it. 😀 She’s so sweet. I truly appreciate people who exert an effort to let you know they remember you. They are amazing! In the package, I got this Almay Brown Liquid Eyeliner in Brown, I will be sharing the review with you lovelies!

On Almay Liquid Eyeliner – Brown Label:

Water- resistant color wears up to 16 hours.  Flexible tip applicator for mistake proof control.  Unique inkwell design delivers fresh color each time.

How To Use:

With cap tightly closed, shake well, apply close to the base of lashes, press lightly for a find line, use a firmer touch for a bolder line.  Hypoallergenic. Good for contact lens wearers.  Wont’s smudge.

Ingredients:

Aqua, Propylene Glycol, Oleyl Alcohol, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate. Stearic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Glyceryl Stearate, hectorite, Cellulose, Tromethamine, Acrylates/ C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Citric Acid, Isopropylparaben, Butylparaben, Isobutylparaben.

My Take on Almay Liquid Eyeliner – Brown:

Almay has been around the beauty industry since 1931, so that’s around 80 years already! They are known as a makeup company using pure and hypoallergenic ingredients. They are actually claiming to be the first hypoallergenic cosmetic brand/company.  Interesting right?  Almay Liquid Eyeliner comes in a small, less than an inch tall, 2.9 ml plastic bottle that has twist open lid that is about thrice as tall as the bottle and is tapered towards the tip. Attached to it is the applicator that is firm but a bit flexible at the end.

Again, I never tried liquid eyeliners before this and as a newbie to it, I feel I have to go through a learning curve. I have shaky hands to begin with, but after 5 tries, I was able to make a decent line over my lids. I find this type of applicator gives the user more control and so, creating a precise line is possible with this. I can make cat’s eye better with this compared to gel liner I am using but again this requires practice.

I like that it is fragrance free and gentle to the eyes. It didn’t cause me irritation.  It retails at $6.99, I checked online.  One swipe gives a rich brown color on lids, but I double it up to make it darker. It dries quickly, like 15 seconds, and it gives a matte finish.

It stays on the lids for 5 long hours in an air conditioned room with minimal fading. I wish I was able to try it for 16 hour, but failed to do so. I do not think it will last longer than 6 hours on a hot weather when we sweat and oil a lot as it is not waterproof! It smudges on me when I tried it on a hot day, as sweat and tears tend to wash it away. Water and soap can easily wash this off my lids. No need for a makeup remover.

Almay Liquid Eyeliner – Brown – What I Don’t Like:

• Transfers on fingers when touched.
• Oil, sweat and tears ruin lines on my lid.
• Not waterproof.
• Does not stay for more than 5 hours on me on a hot weather.
• Availability.

Final Thoughts:

Almay is not available here in my country and can only be ordered from some online shop. In my opinion, this is not being sold here maybe because this is better suited for ladies living in cooler areas. I will not purchase and will just explore other liquid liners to use for that perfect cat’s eye suited for me, living in a hot country, but I will try using this again as soon as I have migrated to Canada.
